A shield remover extends through an opening in a proximal end of the housing for removing a needle shield which covers a needle of the syringe. A cassette identification arrangement is provided on a surface of the housing to enable the autoinjector to identify the cassette. The autoinjector is provided with a detector for reading the cassette identification arrangement.

An auto-injector for administering a dose of a liquid medicament includes an elongate housing arranged to contain a syringe with a hollow needle and a stopper for sealing the syringe and displacing the medicament, the housing having a distal end and a proximal end with an orifice intended to be applied against an injection site. The syringe is slidably arranged with respect to the housing. A spring capable of, upon activation: pushing the needle from a covered position inside the housing into an advanced position through the orifice and past the proximal end (P), operating the syringe to supply the dose of medicament (M), and retracting the syringe with the needle into the covered position. After delivering the medicament, an activator arranged to lock the spring in a pressurized state prior to manual operation and capable of, upon manual operation, releasing the spring for injection.

Medicament delivery device
An injection device with distal and proximal ends includes a housing, a needle-protecting sleeve that is longitudinally movable relative to the housing, a container holder that is longitudinally movable relative to the housing toward the proximal end from a non-delivery position to a delivery position, and a needle-protecting sleeve spring that is operatively coupled between the needle-protecting sleeve and the container holder such that the sleeve is longitudinally movable toward the distal end from an initial position to an activating position and toward the proximal end from the activating position to an end position. The sleeve spring is strained by a first amount when the sleeve moves from its initial position to its activating position, and by a second amount when the container holder moves from its non-delivery position to its delivery position.
ACTIVATING MECHANISM FOR A MEDICAMENT DELIVERY DEVICE AND MEDICAMENT DELIVERY DEVICE
The invention relates to an activating mechanism for a medicament delivery device (1), comprising: —an outer body (8), —a cartridge (2) containing a dosage of a medicament and sealed with a sealing element (2.1) that is arranged across an open distal end of the cartridge (2), —a cartridge carrier (4) adapted to hold the cartridge (2), —a needle safety mechanism adapted to hold a double-ended hollow needle (6) and to relatively move along a longitudinal axis (L) with respect to the cartridge (2) and to the outer body (8) to cover or to expose the needle (6), —wherein in an initial position (P1) of the medicament delivery device (1), the double-ended hollow needle (6) is spaced from the cartridge (2) in a distal direction (D), and —wherein when the needle safety mechanism is pressed into the outer body (8), a proximal end of the needle (6) pierces the sealing element (2.1). The invention further relates to a medicament delivery device (1) comprising such an activating mechanism.
Needle Cover Assembly
The present invention relates to a needle cover assembly to be used with a medicament delivery device, wherein said needle cover assembly (10) is disposable and comprises a retainer element (50) connectable to the medicament container holder; a hub (16) having a longitudinal axis and comprising a double pointed injection needle (22) with a proximal needle end (24) and a distal needle end (48), wherein the proximal needle end projects a distance from the hub (16) along the longitudinal axis, and a shield (18) covering at least the proximal needle end and a portion of the hub (16). The invention is characterised in that said shield (18) comprises a detachable element (26), that the shield (18) is attached to the hub (16) when said detachable element (26) is attacked to the shield (18), corresponding to an untampered state, and that the shield is released and is telescopically movable in relation to the hub (16) along the longitudinal axis when said detachable element (26) is detached from the shield (18) corresponding to an activated state.
Holder with safety shield for a drug delivery device
A holder with a safety shield for a drug delivery device; the shield obstructing access to a needle of the drug delivery device following use thereof. The safety shield may be actively deployed, in which case the health care worker must perform an action beyond complete depression of the pusher into the body of the drug delivery device to deploy the shield. Alternatively, the safety shield may be deployed passively or automatically, in which case deployment of the shield occurs upon complete depression of the pusher into the body, with no additional action required of the health care worker. The safety shield is spring-loaded and released to its extended position by a mechanical coupling of a series of position members, including levers, formed on the holder and the drug delivery device.
Injection device with needle shield
According to the invention, an injection device (D) comprises a pre-filled syringe and a safety device. The pre-filled syringe comprises a barrel with an inner cavity in fluid communication with a hypodermic needle attached to a distal end of the pre-filled syringe and a piston fluid-tightly sealing a proximal end of the inner cavity. The safety device comprises a support body for retaining the pre-filled syringe therein, an outer body operably connected to the piston, a needle shield and a releasable retaining means (R). The retaining means comprises a radial projection and a longitudinal recess adapted to receive the radial projection. The radial projection is connected to or integral part of one of the support body or the outer body and a longitudinal recess formed into the other of the support body or the outer body. The needle shield, the support body and the outer body are telescopable relative to each other. The piston is movable in a distal direction to expel a medicament contained in the inner cavity through the hypodermic needle by a manual actuation of the outer body. A telescoping movement of the outer body with respect to the support body is restricted by the retaining means (R) when the needle shield is moved with respect to the support body in a proximal direction from an initial position (I) towards a retracted position (II). The retaining means (R) is released when the needle shield reaches the retracted position (II) allowing for a telescoping movement of the outer body with respect to the support body to expel the medicament contained in the pre-filled syringe through the hypodermic needle.
