Safety device for a hollow medical needle
Method, system and device involving a needle device with a needle safety element with improved stable structure. A frame can surround the needle safety element to provide added stiffening of the needle safety element. The frame can include stays extending laterally of the needle safety element. The needle safety element with the frame can be slidably located on a needle and in a catheter hub in a ready to use position and be removable from the catheter hub in a protective position.
NEEDLE SAFETY CLIP, SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A needle safety clip including means to cover the end of a needle, e.g., after use, and allowing for another medical instrument, e.g., a guidewire or a catheter to extend from the clip with the needle-sharp end secured in the clip. A distal end section of the safety clip includes a slot to receive the guidewire therethrough in a safety position while blocking the needle from moving distally past the distal end section.
Intravenous catheter apparatus
The invention relates to an intravenous catheter apparatus comprising a catheter hub arranged at a proximal end of a catheter tube, the catheter hub having an inner surface defining a chamber; a needle having a needle tip at its distal end and extending through the chamber and the catheter tube when in a ready position; and a needle guard slidably arranged on the needle and received in the chamber when the needle is in its ready position, wherein the needle guard is configured to guard the needle tip upon withdrawal of the needle from the catheter hub.
Assemblies for Identifying a Power Injectable Access Port
A method of using a power-injectable port includes obtaining the power-injectable access port, attaching a catheter to an outlet stem of the power-injectable access port, and implanting the power-injectable access port and the catheter into a patient. The method further includes identifying the power-injectable access port following the implanting, inserting a distal end of a needle through the septum and into the reservoir, and injecting contrast media through the needle at a rate of at least one milliliter per second. The power-injectable access port includes a housing, a septum, a reservoir, and an outlet stem in fluid communication with the reservoir. The power-injectable access port is rated for injection of contrast media at a flow rate of at least 1 milliliter per second. The power-injectable access port is structured for operation at a pressure in the reservoir of at least 35 psi.
Intravenous catheter apparatus with safety function and pressure controlled valve element
The invention relates to an intravenous catheter apparatus comprising: a catheter hub arranged at a proximal end of a catheter tube, the catheter hub having an inner surface defining a chamber; a needle defining an axial direction and having a needle tip, the needle extending through the chamber and the catheter tube when in a ready position; a needle guard slidably arranged on the needle and at least partially received in the chamber when the needle is in the ready position, the needle guard including a base portion and first and second arms extending from the base portion, wherein the first arm is deflected radially outwards by the needle against a restoring force when the needle is in the ready position whereby the needle guard is brought into retaining contact with the catheter hub; and wherein the catheter apparatus includes a valve which separates a distal space arranged in distal direction from the valve from a proximal space arranged on proximal direction from the valve. The invention further provides that the valve opens based on a pressure differential between the pressure prevailing in the distal space and the pressure prevailing in the proximal space.
NEEDLE ASSEMBLY AND COMPONENTS THEREOF
Needle assemblies are generally discussed herein with particular discussions extended to needle assemblies having a tip protector with a plurality of wall surfaces for preventing contact with the needle tip from a side. Aspects of the tip protectors discussed herein include a first protector body having an arm for blocking a needle tip surrounded by a second protector body having a plurality of wall surfaces.
INTRAVENOUS CATHETER WITH PRESSURE ACTIVATED VALVE
The anti-back-flow devices and methods prevent fluid from leaking proximally from a catheter, but allow ready access to the catheter using any male luer device. The devices include proximal surfaces that urge open a valve in response to force from a male luer tip. The valves are associated a female luer hub and adapted to function with standard and typical non-standard male luer fittings.
CATHETER ASSEMBLY
A catheter assembly including a catheter carried by a catheter adapter, a needle having a sharp distal tip and disposed in the catheter such that in a first needle position, the needle extending beyond the catheter, a needle hub fixed adjacent to a proximal end of the needle, a clip disposed in the catheter adapter and cooperating with the needle, and a barrel assembly including an inner diameter, wherein when the needle is in a second needle position, the clip encloses the distal tip of the needle, and when the needle moves to a third needle position, the clip and the needle is disposed in the inner diameter of the barrel assembly.
Self-Sealing Pad for a Needle-Based Infusion Set
A needle assembly to prevent fluid/vapor escape so as to reduce or prevent fluid exposure to a clinician during use of the needle assembly. The needle assembly may include a handle portion with a needle extending therefrom, and a base portion releasably coupled to the handle portion. The base portion may include a safety assembly to shield a distal tip of the needle and prevent user contact therewith. The base portion may further include a self-sealing pad covering a bottom external surface thereof. The self-sealing pad may include an upper surface designed to mate with the base portion and a raised portion compressively positioned in the opening of the bottom external surface. The needle assembly may further include a fluid isolation component.
