Orthopedic extendable rods
Embodiments herein are generally directed to extendable rods for use in orthopedic assemblies. In some embodiments, these implants may be used in conjunction with procedures to treat spinal deformities, including, but not limited to, early onset scoliosis.
Snap-on multi-planar and mono-planar receiver assemblies having integral and multi-part multipurpose positioners for pivoting and non-pivoting retainers
A receiver subassembly adapted to couple with a universal shank to form a bone anchor assembly. The universal shank having an integral upper capture structure with opposed spaced apart flat side surfaces. The receiver subassembly including a receiver including a distal opening for bottom loading of the capture structure of the universal shank there-through. The receiver supporting a retainer and a positioner within the receiver. The positioner supporting a position of the retainer within the receiver. The retainer configured to couple with the capture structure when the capture structure extends at least partially through the distal opening.
Pivotal bone anchor with bottom-loaded shank and tool-deployable interference fit rod-engaging insert
A polyaxial bone screw assembly includes a threaded shank body having an integral upper portion receivable in an integral receiver, the receiver having an upper channel for receiving a longitudinal connecting member and a lower cavity cooperating with a lower opening. The receiver can have crimp tabs, but is devoid of spring tabs and collet-like flexible structures. A down-loadable compression insert (some with lock and release feature), a down-loadable friction fit split retaining ring and an up-loadable shank upper portion cooperate to provide for pop- or snap-on assembly of the shank with the receiver either prior to or after implantation of the shank into a vertebra. The shank and receiver once assembled cannot be disassembled. The receiver and insert include aligned tool receiving apertures for lock and release of the polyaxial mechanism.
Bottom-loaded pivotal bone anchor assembly with non-pivoting retainer and deployable insert
A polyaxial bone screw assembly includes a threaded shank body having an integral upper portion receivable in an integral receiver, the receiver having an upper channel for receiving a longitudinal connecting member and a lower cavity cooperating with a lower opening. A down-loadable compression insert with tool receiving arm extensions, a down-loadable friction fit split retaining ring and an uploadable shank upper portion cooperate to provide for pop- or snap-on assembly of the shank with the receiver either prior to or after implantation of the shank into a vertebra. The shank and receiver once assembled cannot be disassembled.
FLEXIBLE SPINE STABILIZATION SYSTEM
A system for flexibly stabilizing a vertebral motion segment by connecting a first vertebra and a second vertebra is disclosed. The system includes an elongate connection element with end portions interconnected by a flexible coupling member. The system includes first and second attachment portions for connecting the connection element to the vertebrae. A first resilient member is positioned between the first end portion and the first attachment portion, and a second resilient member is positioned between the first attachment portion and the second attachment portion. The system is designed such that the second resilient member is compressed when the first and second attachment portions move towards each other, and the first resilient member is compressed when the first and second attachment portions extend away from each other.
Tool system for dynamic spinal implants
A tool set for implanting bone screws in a human spine, followed by the implantation of a longitudinal connecting member into the bone screws includes a pair of independently mountable and manipulatable elongate guide tools that form a unitary tool guide when desired. Each guide tool includes attachment structure for independent operable connection of the guide tool to an arm of the bone screw. The bone screw/guide tool attachment includes an undercut and/or recess so as to resist separation of the guide tool member from an attached bone screw. Further tools include a removable stabilizer, a cooperating bone screw driver with an attached stabilizer, a closure starter/reduction tool, a closure driver and a counter torque tool.
COUPLING SLEEVE FOR BONE POWER TOOL
A coupling sleeve for a bone power tool and a bone anchor is provided. The coupling sleeve includes a proximal collar, a distal collar, and a central portion. The proximal collar defines a first opening that is configured to interface with a bone power tool. The distal collar defines a second opening that is configured to interface with a retention feature for a pedicle screw. The central portion extends between the proximal collar and the distal collar. The proximal collar, the distal collar, and the central portion cooperate to define a passageway between the first opening and the second opening.
SPINAL DISTRACTION SYSTEM
A spinal distraction system including a bearing connector fastened to a fixated rod and a sliding rod, wherein the sliding rod includes a spring and a stop ring is disclosed. A method of distracting vertebrae is also disclosed.
Dynamic stabilization members with elastic and inelastic sections
An improved dynamic longitudinal connecting member includes a rod portion joined with a tensioned cord portion, for use in a medical implant assembly having at least two bone attachment structures, a spacer covering the join of the rod and cord portions and extending between the at least two bone attachment structures, a sleeve, a bumper and a cord blocker. The spacer and bumper are compressed. The cord portion is slidable with respect to at least one of the bone attachment members.
UNIPLANAR BONE ANCHOR ASSEMBLY WITH POP-ON SHANK AND INSERT WITH TOOL DEPLOYMENT
A polyaxial bone screw assembly includes a threaded shank body having an integral upper portion receivable in an integral receiver, the receiver having an upper channel for receiving a longitudinal connecting member and a lower cavity cooperating with a lower opening. A down-loadable compression insert has a lower friction fit collet and an outer receiver press fit surface. A down-loadable retaining ring has at least one inner edge and outer tiered surfaces. The ring cooperates with the shank to provide for pop- or snap-on assembly of the shank with the receiver either prior to or after implantation of the shank into a vertebra. The shank and receiver once assembled cannot be disassembled. A uni-planar assembly is included.
