Scoliosis correction systems, methods, and instruments
12121266 · 2024-10-22 · ·

Devices, systems and methods for use in spinal surgeries. The system may include a fastener system comprising a fastener, a staple, and a locking cap. A cord may extend along the spine and through at least one fastener system. An instrument may be provided for tensioning the cord. The system may, for example, apply fixation on the convexity of the scoliotic vertebrae to limit growth on the convex side and allow unilateral growth on the concave side.

ORTHOPEDIC EXTENDABLE RODS

Embodiments herein are generally directed to extendable rods for use in orthopedic assemblies. In some embodiments, these implants may be used in conjunction with procedures to treat spinal deformities, including, but not limited to, early onset scoliosis.

Reusable Surgical Implement
20180177532 · 2018-06-28 ·

A reusable surgical implement is provided that is formed of a core positioned within an enclosure. The core is formed of a suitable flexible material to enable the implement, which can be any suitable device such as a reusable surgical trial implant, rod template or flex driver, among others, to be bent to conform to the desired shape for an actual implant to be placed in the location of the implement. The material forming the enclosure is also flexible to accommodate the flexing of the core, and is biologically inert to enable the implement to be sterilized after use for use in subsequent surgical procedures.

TOOL SYSTEM FOR DYNAMIC SPINAL IMPLANTS
20180168701 · 2018-06-21 ·

A tool set for implanting bone screws in a human spine, followed by the implantation of a longitudinal connecting member into the bone screws includes a pair of independently mountable and manipulatable elongate guide tools that form a unitary tool guide when desired. Each guide tool includes attachment structure for independent operable connection of the guide tool to an arm of the bone screw. The bone screw/guide tool attachment includes an undercut and/or recess so as to resist separation of the guide tool member from an attached bone screw. Further tools include a removable stabilizer, a cooperating bone screw driver with an attached stabilizer, a closure starter/reduction tool, a closure driver and a counter torque tool.

PIVOTAL BONE ANCHOR WITH BOTTOM-LOADED SHANK AND TOOL-DEPLOYABLE INTERFERENCE FIT ROD-ENGAGING INSERT
20180168692 · 2018-06-21 ·

A polyaxial bone screw assembly includes a threaded shank body having an integral upper portion receivable in an integral receiver, the receiver having an upper channel for receiving a longitudinal connecting member and a lower cavity cooperating with a lower opening. The receiver can have crimp tabs, but is devoid of spring tabs and collet-like flexible structures. A down-loadable compression insert (some with lock and release feature), a down-loadable friction fit split retaining ring and an up-loadable shank upper portion cooperate to provide for pop- or snap-on assembly of the shank with the receiver either prior to or after implantation of the shank into a vertebra. The shank and receiver once assembled cannot be disassembled. The receiver and insert include aligned tool receiving apertures for lock and release of the polyaxial mechanism.

LONGITUDINAL CONNECTING MEMBER WITH SLEEVED TENSIONED CORDS
20180168693 · 2018-06-21 · ·

A dynamic fixation medical implant having at least two bone anchors includes a longitudinal connecting member assembly having rigid sleeves for attachment to the bone anchors, at least one spacer engaging the bone anchors and the sleeves, and in some embodiments, an end elastic bumper. A flexible cord is initially slidingly received within the rigid sleeves, the spacer and the bumper. The spacer may include an optional inelastic inner liner, with at least one of the sleeves having an extension slidingly receivable within the liner. Some sleeves include apertures for receiving a closure top portion for locking the cord against the sleeve, or alternatively receiving a closure top that does not extend into the aperture, the slip or grip option provided by the aperture in each sleeve resulting in an overall connector with variable segmental stiffness.

System and method for replacement of spinal motion segment

A system for flexibly stabilizing a vertebral motion segment of the facet joint by connecting a first vertebra and a second vertebra is disclosed. The system includes an elongate connection element with end portions interconnected by a flexible coupling member. The system includes first and second attachment portions for connecting the connection element to the vertebrae. A first resilient member is positioned between the first end portion and the first attachment portion, and a second resilient member is positioned between the first attachment portion and the second attachment portion.

BOTTOM-LOADED PIVOTAL BONE ANCHOR ASSEMBLY WITH NON-PIVOTING RETAINER AND DEPLOYABLE INSERT

A polyaxial bone screw assembly includes a threaded shank body having an integral upper portion receivable in an integral receiver, the receiver having an upper channel for receiving a longitudinal connecting member and a lower cavity cooperating with a lower opening. A down-loadable compression insert with tool receiving arm extensions, a down-loadable friction fit split retaining ring and an up-loadable shank upper portion cooperate to provide for pop- or snap-on assembly of the shank with the receiver either prior to or after implantation of the shank into a vertebra. The shank and receiver once assembled cannot be disassembled.

SPINAL FIXATION TOOL ATTACHMENT STRUCTURE
20180146991 · 2018-05-31 ·

A tool set for implanting bone screws in a human spine, followed by the implantation of a rod into the bone screws includes end guide tools having flexible back wall flaps that receive opposite ends of the rod and intermediate guide tools that hold the rod in intermediate locations between the end guide tools. Both the end and intermediate guide tools include an attachment structure for operably connecting the guide tool to a bone screw. The attachment structure includes an undercut and/or recess so as to resist splaying and separation of the guide tool from an attached bone screw.
