The system includes an anchor rod configured for mounting to a bone of a subject, the anchor rod having one or more spring-biased tabs disposed at one end thereof, and a connector having first end and a second end, the first end having a receiving cup configured for detachable mounting on the anchor rod, wherein the one or more spring-biased tabs are configured to engage with an inner surface of the receiving cup, the connector having a second end operatively coupled to an end of a first member and wherein the second member is configured for mounting to a second bone of a subject.

Expandable rod system to treat scoliosis and method of using the same

Correction of a scoliotic curve in a spine comprises the steps of implanting an expanding rod isolated completely under the skin and attached to selected portions of the scoliotic curve of the spine at opposing ends of the rod; and producing a controlled force by means of expansion of the rod over at an extended time period under external control until a desire spinal curve is obtained. An incremental force is generated to stretch the scoliotic curve of the spine between the selected portions where attachment of the rod is defined. The controlled force is provided steadily for at least one month or alternatively 1-3 months. Multiple rods may be employed each associated with a different scoliotic curve of the spine or a different portion of the scoliotic curve.

A spine connecting rod includes a coupling assembly, a first rod and a second rod. The coupling assembly includes a cylindrical body having first and second coupling parts and a cylindrical elastic part inside the body. The first rod, pivotally connected with the coupling assembly, has a diameter less than any inner diameter of the elastic part and the first coupling part. One end of the first rod is furnished with a ball having a diameter greater than that of the first rod and any inner diameters of the elastic part and the second coupling part. The second rod is connected with the coupling assembly. The first and second rods protrude out of the first and second coupling parts, respectively. The ball of the first rod is rotationally disposed inside the coupling assembly to allow the first rod to undergo elastic movements via the elastic part.

ADJUSTABLE, MODULAR INSTRUMENT AND METHOD FOR SPINAL MANIPULATION
20230329758 · 2023-10-19 ·

A spinal manipulation instrument, system, and method may use a driving rod to move instrument arms toward or away from one another to compress or distract between selected vertebrae to which the arms are connected. Two arms may be coupled to the driving rod. A threaded collar may axially engage one of the arms, to translate that arm along the driving rod with respect to the other arm. The other arm may be at a fixed axial location or driven by another, oppositely-oriented thread. The arms may be highly adjustable to accommodate a wide range of anatomical variation between patients. Attachment members may be modular to interchangeably couple the arms across multiple platforms.
