A pivotal bone anchor assembly includes a receiver having upright arms defining a receiver channel for receiving an elongate rod, and an axial bore extending downward from the receiver channel to a bottom opening. The upright arms include break-off extensions, outer horizontally extending curvate tool engagement grooves, and side apertures extending inwardly from outer surfaces of the upright arms to deformable crimp wall portions adjacent the axial bore. The assembly also includes a shank having an anchor portion and an integral upper portion that is positionable in the axial bore of the receiver with the shank extending downward through the bottom opening. The assembly further includes an insert with an insert channel positionable within the axial bore and having opposing depressions formed into side surfaces that are configured to cooperate with the crimp wall portions of the receiver to maintain the insert channel in alignment with the receiver channel.

BLUNT TIP BONE SCREW

In one embodiment, a bone screw includes a shaft having a proximal shaft end and a distal shaft end spaced from the proximal shaft end in a distal direction along a central axis. The shaft is helically threaded between the proximal and distal shaft ends. A tip extends from the distal shaft end in the distal direction, and defines a plurality of lands with cutting flutes disposed between adjacent lands. Each land has a bore-cutting edge that extends from an inner cutting edge end to an outer cutting edge end. The inner cutting edge end is disposed at a center of the distal end of the tip, and the outer cutting edge end is spaced from the center of the distal end of the tip. The bore-cutting edges may blunt the feel of the tip so as to reduce the likelihood of soft-tissue damage.

SELF-RETAINING FASTENER AND DRIVER
20210275238 · 2021-09-09 ·

A provisional engagement feature for selectively connecting a fastener such as a screw to a driving tool, the fastener incorporating a head with a recess extending therein and a projection contained within the recess for engagement with a corresponding engagement feature and/or selective locking feature of the driving tool.

Wing-shaped angle steel plate and a bone shaft fixation system

The present invention relates to a wing-shaped angle steel plate and a bone shaft fixation system. The wing-shaped angle steel plate comprises a wing fitting portion and a body fixation portion which are fixedly connected to each other. The wing fitting portion is used for supporting a fracture end and has a structure matched with an inner side surface of a bone shaft. The body fixation portion is used for fixing the wing fitting portion and has a structure matched with a front side of the bone shaft. The body fixation portion is provided with at least two first locking holes for passing through first locking screws at an intersection site with the wing fitting portion and is further provided with at least two second locking holes for passing through second locking screws in the structure matched with the front side of the bone shaft. In the wing-shaped angle steel plate, the wing fitting portion and the body fixation portion of the present invention are connected to each other and cooperate to fix and support the bone shaft fracture end site, and effectively ensure and help stable reduction and healing of the fracture sites.

Twist-drivable pin assembly

A twist-drivable pin assembly includes first and second drivers, each having a driving end which can be received in a bore in the end of a twist-drivable pin, and an opposite end at which torque can be applied. The cross-sectional shape of each of the drivers at its driving end has a first plurality of apexes whose relative locations coincide with the apexes of a regular polygon such as a hexagon. The drivers differ from one another in their cross-sectional shapes at the driving end by virtue of one or more faces of at least one of the drivers between adjacent pairs of apexes having a groove formed in it. Each of first and second twist-drivable pins has a bore extending into it which is defined by a second plurality of apexes arranged as a regular polygon such as a hexagon and which is open at one end.

Coupling assembly for coupling a rod to a bone anchoring element, and polyaxial bone anchoring device
