Screwdriver and screw for medical applications, in particular for dental applications
A screwdriver for medical, in particular dental applications, is provided, the screwdriver (2, 2′, 2″) being configured to cooperate with a screw (1, 1′), the screw (1, 1′) having an apical end (11), a coronal end (10), a screw axis (S) and a first recess (14) at the coronal end for engagement with the screwdriver, the first recess (14) having a substantially polygonal inner contour in a radial plane that is perpendicular to the screw axis (S), the screwdriver (2, 2′, 2″) comprising a shaft (2) defining a longitudinal axis (D) of the screw driver, and an engagement portion (21, 21′, 21″) for engagement with the first recess (14) of the screw (1, 1′), the engagement portion (21, 21′, 21″) having a substantially polygonal outer contour with corners (23, 23′, 23″) and outer surfaces (22, 22′, 22″) between the corners (23, 23′, 23″) wherein in a radial plane that is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis (D), the outer surfaces (22, 22′, 22″) between two neighbouring corners (23, 23′, 23″) are curved radially outward.
Dynamic bone fixation element and method of using the same
The present invention relates to dynamic bone fixation elements and a surgical method to stabilize bone or bone fragments. The dynamic bone fixation elements preferably include a bone engaging component and a load carrier engaging component. The bone engaging component preferably includes a plurality of threads for engaging a patient's bone and a lumen. The load carrier engaging component preferably includes a head portion for engaging a load carrier (e.g., bone plate) and a shaft portion. The shaft portion preferably at least partially extends into the lumen. Preferably at least a portion of an outer surface of the shaft portion is spaced away from at least a portion of an inner surface of the lumen via a gap so that the head portion can move with respect to the bone engaging component. The distal end of the shaft portion is preferably coupled to the lumen.
Surgical system, device, and method for implanting a surgical device without the use of a guide wire
The present invention relates to a system, method, device and kit which utilize a modular pedicle screw implant that does not require the use of a guide wire for implantation and can be assembled in situ. The system, method, device, and kit include a surgical instrument for implanting a modular pedicle screw comprising a cannula coaxially aligned with a modified trocar style instrument or surgical shaft. The surgical shaft contains a first member of a surgical shaft-inner pedicle bone screw member joint, illustrated herein as a locking taper, for securing an inner member of a pedicle screw thereto. The inner member of a pedicle screw is further adapted to couple to an outer pedicle sheath. In combination, the inner member of a pedicle screw and the outer pedicle sheath form a solid modular pedicle screw.
BONE ANCHOR
A bone anchor includes an anchor member including a first material, and having a tubular section extending along a longitudinal axis, a region configured to expand radially outwards from the longitudinal axis, and a bone engagement structure projecting from at least a portion of the expandable region of the tubular section, and a core member including a second material, and configured for insertion into and connection to the anchor member. When the core member is in the anchor member and is actuated relative to the anchor member, the tubular section is adjustable between a first position where the expandable region of the tubular member has a first length and a first maximum diameter, to a second position where the expandable region of the tubular member has a length shorter than the first length and a maximum diameter greater than the first maximum diameter.
Disposable orthopedic surgery kit and components
A disposable single indication orthopedic trauma surgical kit has no bone plates other than a single bone plate precountoured and sized to match an anatomic shape of a portion of a bone of a patient's extremity. The single bone plate has a plurality of fastener apertures. The surgical kit also has a plurality of fasteners with heads that are dimensioned to mate with the fastener apertures. The surgical kit also has a disposable torque driver adapted to engage the fastener heads. The foregoing components are contained in a sterile sealed container.
Osteosynthesis screw comprising an angular index in relation to the screwdriver
A tightening screw for osteosynthesis, including a screw thread that is arranged along a main axis, and including, at its distal end, a recess that has regular shapes about the main axis which are distributed angularly and are suitable for receiving complementary shapes of a screwdriver engaging therewith; the rear face of the screw is inclined in relation to a transverse plane of the screw, the screw being characterized in that the recess in the screw includes at least one specific shape that is different from the other, regular shapes.
MULTIPLE DRIVE INTERFERENCE SCREW SYSTEM AND DEVICE
A multiple drive interference screw device with a head having multiple insertion features. The screw component has a tubular body with a first end and a closed second end, and the head is positioned at the first end and configured to engage with a driver to advance the screw into the bone A penetrating tip is positioned at the second end. The head of the screw component has at least three insertion features, such as a hex shaped insertion feature around the major diameter of the head and a hexalobe shaped insertion feature within the hex shaped insertion feature, and a sprocket shaped insertion feature positioned exterior to the hex shaped insertion feature.
Implantation aid for the use of surface-sensitive implants
The present application relates to an implantation set including a tool or an aid, and at least one bone contact member adapted thereto, therefore a device designed for direct contact with a bone, the bone contact member having a greater hardness in a region intended for contact by the tool or aid than the tool or aid in a region intended for contact with the bone contact member.
Retraction assembly for surgery
A retraction assembly for use in retracting soft tissue during spine surgery having a reactor blade having a blade body and proximal and distal ends, a support member engagable with the blade body and having proximal and distal ends. The proximal end engages a passage in the blade body and the second end of the support member includes an anchorage capable of anchoring the assembly to an anatomical structure while allowing movement of the support member. The retractor blade is capable of detachable engagement with and movement relative to the support member. The retractor blade is capable of detachable engagement with and movement relative to the support member. The first end of the support member includes operating nuts to adjust the support member rotationally and vertically.
POWERED RETAINING SCREWDRIVER
The invention relates to a system and method for driving orthopedic bone screws. In one aspect the driver includes a powered driving rod that is configured to releasably couple with a recess in a bone screw via a threaded system for coupling and uncoupling the screw from the driving rod.
