Magnetic Probe Apparatus
A system and method for locating magnetic material. In one embodiment the system includes a magnetic probe; a power module in electrical communication with the magnetic probe to supply current to the magnetic probe; a sense module in electrical communication with the magnetic probe to receive signals from the magnetic probe; and a computer in electrical communication with the power module and the sense module. The computer generates a waveform that controls the supply of current from the power module and receives a signal from the sense module that indicates the presence of magnetic material. The magnetic probe is constructed from a material having a coefficient of thermal expansion of substantially 10.sup.−6/° C. or less and a Young's modulus of substantially 50 GPa or greater. In one embodiment magnetic nanoparticles are injected into a breast and the lymph nodes collecting the particles are detected with the probe and deemed sentinel nodes.
APYROGENIC PREPARATION CONTAINING NANOPARTICLES SYNTHESISED BY MAGNETOTACTIC BACTERIA FOR MEDICAL OR COSMETIC APPLICATIONS
A non-pyrogenic preparation containing nanoparticles synthesized by magnetotactic bacteria for medical or cosmetic applications. The nanoparticles are constituted by a crystallized mineral central part including predominantly an iron oxide, as well as a surrounding coating without material from the magnetotactic bacteria.
ULTRA-SMALL SUPERPARAMAGNETIC IRON OXIDE NANOPARTICLES
The invention relates to a method for producing an adjusted nanoparticle composition comprising ultra-small superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles coated with dextran-T10, compositions obtained thereby, and uses of such compositions. The adjusted compositions have improved parameters such as lower batch-to-batch variance and improved stability, and are useful as magnetic imaging agents.
Nano-Particles Containing Carbon and a Ferromagnetic Metal or Alloy
The invention relates to nano-particles comprising metallic ferromagnetic nanocrystals combined with either amorphous or graphitic carbon in which or on which chemical groups are present that can dissociate in aqueous solutions.
According to the invention there is provided nano-particles comprising metal particles of at least one ferromagnetic metal, which metal particles are at least in part encapsulated by graphitic carbon.
The nano-particles of the invention are prepared by impregnating carbon containing bodies with an aqueous solution of at least one ferromagnetic metal precursor, drying the impregnated bodies, followed by heating the impregnated bodies in an inert and substantially oxygen-free atmosphere, thereby reducing the metal compounds to the corresponding metal or metal alloy.
Hypoosmotic solutions for lymph node detection
Provided are compositions for rapid detection of lymph nodes. The compositions include magnetic particles, such as iron oxide, and a solute present in an amount that results in a hypoosomotic solution. Methods for detecting lymph nodes also are provided.
EXTRACT OF PLANT POWDER, AND WATER PURIFIER
Provided are an extract, which is a fractionated component 1 of a water extract of a plant powder, wherein the fractionated component 1 is a fractionated component having a fractionation molecular weight of 12,000 or greater, wherein an ethanol-undissolved component of the fractionated component 1 exhibits a peak attributable to carboxylic acid in a Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) measurement and exhibits a peak attributable to cellulose in a gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS) measurement, and wherein an ethanol-dissolved component of the fractionated component 1 exhibits a peak attributable to carboxylic acid in the FT-IR measurement and exhibits a peak attributable to a plant protein in the GC-MS measurement, and a water-purifying agent containing the extract.
Preparation of dry formulations of dairy probiotics
The invention relates to a method for the preparation of dry formulations of dairy probiotic bacteria using a combination of different polymers. The said formulations having increased viability during processing, storage and upon transfers to the rumen of the dairy animals. Further said formulations having high tolerance to lactate and acetate in the rumen of dairy animals.
Method for producing stable dispersible magnetic iron oxide single-core nanoparticles, stable dispersible magnetic iron oxide single-core nanoparticles and uses of same
The present invention relates to magnetic single-core nanoparticles, in particular stable dispersible magnetic single-core nanoparticles (e.g. single-core magnetite nanoparticles) having a diameter between 20 and 200 nm in varied morphology, and the continuous aqueous synthesis thereof, in particular using micromixers. The method is simple, quick and cost-effective to perform and is carried out without organic solvents. The single-core nanoparticles produced by the method form stable dispersions in aqueous media, i.e. not having a tendency to assemble or aggregate. In addition, the method offers the possibility of producing anisotropic, super-paramagnetic, plate-shaped nanoparticles which, due to their shape anisotrophy, are extremely suitable for use in polymer matrices for magnet field-controlled release of active substances.
Method of forming inorganic nanocages
Nanocages are formed by etching nanocubes. The nanocubes are added to an aqueous system having an amphiphilic lipid dissolved in an organic solvent (e.g. a hydrophobic alcohol) to form reverse micelles. As the water evaporates the micelles shrink as etching of the flat surface of the nanocubes occurs. In this fashion hollow nanocages are produced. In one embodiment, the nanocage is covalently attached to a polymer shell (e.g. a dextran shell).
