DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE WITH VARIABLE PISTON FORCE

The present disclosure relates to a drug delivery device, comprising a housing, a cartridge, the cartridge containing a drug in a quantity sufficient for a plurality of doses of the drug, a bung, the bung being movably retained within the cartridge to dispense a dose of the drug from the cartridge upon movement of the bung with respect to the cartridge, and a drive mechanism, the drive mechanism being operable to transfer a driving force to the bung to dispense the dose of the drug from the cartridge. The drug delivery device is configured such that the maximal driving force which is transferrable to the bung via the drive mechanism varies and is adjusted to the current position of the bung within the cartridge.

Drive Mechanism and Drug Delivery Device Herewith

The present disclosure is generally directed to a drive mechanism for use in a drug delivery device having a cylindrical cartridge, i.e. a handheld injection device for selecting and dispensing a number of user variable doses of a medicament. The drive mechanism includes a base element, a toothed piston rod, which is guided within and movable relative to the base portion, and a drive gear having a pinion, which is rotatably held in the base element and in meshed engagement with the toothed piston rod. The toothed piston rod includes multiple rigid rod pieces which are connected by hinges. The rigid rod pieces comprise a flat plate provided with a straight toothed rack.

Drive mechanism for a drug delivery device

A drive mechanism for a drug delivery device having a rotationally fixed plunger rod driven by a lead screw. The lead screw engages a free lock which is coupled to a release knob. A dose setting dial cooperates with an inner cylinder using a clutch to establish the axial movement of the plunger rod during dose setting and dispensing.

DOSE DETECTION WITH PIEZOELECTRIC SENSING FOR A MEDICATION DELIVERY DEVICE
20230173189 · 2023-06-08 ·

The present disclosure relates to a medication delivery device having a dose detection system and an associated control system configured to determine an amount of medication delivered from the medication delivery device based on the sensing of relative rotation within the medication delivery device. The relative rotation may occur between a dose setting member and an actuator and/or housing of the medication delivery device. The rotation sensing may involve piezoelectric sensing, more specifically repeatedly deforming a piezoelectric sensor with a mechanical force. The dose detection system may be a modular or integral component of the medication delivery device.

DEVICES AND METHODS FOR PRECISION DOSE DELIVERY

Disclosed herein are delivery devices for delivering a volume of a drug product, placebo product, or other product including a fluid. The devices may include a barrel having a longitudinal axis, a proximal end region, and a distal end region. The proximal end region may include an opening, and the barrel may be configured to receive a drug therein. A plunger rod may be disposed at least partially inside the barrel and protruding from the opening. The plunger rod may include a rack having a plurality of teeth. The device may further include a pinion having a plurality of teeth configured to engage with the plurality of teeth of the rack, and rotation of the pinion against the rack may move at least a part of the plunger rod along the longitudinal axis of the barrel.

DOSE SETTING DEVICE FOR AN INJECTION DEVICE

A dosing device for an injection device, the dosing device including an actuating element for adjusting and/or dispensing a dose from the injection device, a thrust element for generating a forward movement for discharging a dose and a coupling to which the actuating element and the thrust element are coupled such that a rotational movement of the actuating element is transmitted directly to the thrust element and an axial movement of the actuating element is different than an axial movement of the thrust element.

DOSE SETTING MECHANISM AND DRUG DELIVERY DEVICE WITH RATCHET MECHANISM

A dose setting mechanism comprising a first element and a second element; the first element being moveable with respect to the second element; the first element and the second element being coupled by a ratchet mechanism allowing motion of the first element with respect to the second element from a first position to a second position only in a first direction while preventing motion in a second direction that is opposite to the first direction; once passing the second position, the first element being moveable with respect to the second element in the first direction and in the second direction.

Dispensing speed control mechanism and injection device

The present invention relates to a dispensing speed control mechanism for use in an injection device. The injection device may have a housing (10, 30, 40; 40′; 40″; 40′″) and a drive member (70), which is driven by a power reservoir (100, 100′) and axially movable between a dose setting position, in which the drive member (70) is rotationally constrained to the housing (10, 30, 40; 40′; 40″; 40′″), and a dose dispensing position, in which the drive member (70) is rotationally de-coupled from the housing (10, 30, 40; 40′; 40″; 40′″). The speed control mechanism comprises friction means (42) for retarding the drive member (70) during dose dispensing depending on the axial position of the drive member (70). Further, the invention relates to an injection device with such a dispensing speed control mechanism.
