A safety needle is disclosed having a puncture needle with a needle lumen and a ground tip; a holding device that, during use, bears on the skin of a patient and holds the puncture needle; and a safety mechanism with a protection element that has a first, opened state and a second, closed state. When the holding device is taken away from the skin and/or when the holding device is moved with respect to the defined position, the safety mechanism automatically moves the protection element from a first position, in which the tip of the needle is exposed, to a second position, in which the tip of the needle is covered as the protection element at the same time transfers automatically from the first, opened state to the second, closed state.

Intelligent medication delivery systems and methods

Systems, devices, and techniques are disclosed for administering and tracking medicine to patients and providing health management capabilities for patients and caregivers. In some aspects, a system includes an injection pen device including a dose setting mechanism, a dispensing mechanism, and an electronics unit to generate dose data associated with a dispensing event of a dose of the medicine dispensed from the injection pen device and time data associated with the dispensing event; a mobile device in wireless communication to receive and process the dose data; and a software application configured to determine a recommended dose based on health data and contextual data associated with a user of the injection pen device, the software application including a learning dose calculator module to adaptively calculate the recommended dose of the medicine based on time-relevant and circumstances-relevant data specific to the user of the injection pen device.

SAFETY PEN NEEDLE ASSEMBLY

In one aspect, a safety pen needle assembly includes a hub having an open proximal end, a needle fixed to said hub, said needle having a distal end for insertion into a patient, and a proximal end extending into said open proximal end of said hub, a shield having a distal opening and an internal thread that is engaged to said hub so as to be manually movable relative to said hub to selectively expose said distal end of said needle via proximal movement of said shield and cover said distal end of said needle via distal movement of said shield, said shield having an open distal end, and a cap that seals the distal opening of the shield.

Pen needle packaging

Pen needle packaging concepts provide sterile packaging which can be made with fewer small parts and which can be opened with one hand, streamlining the process of installing the pen needle on the medication pen. In some instances, the packaging operates as a sharps container to store the pen needle after use.

INSULIN PEN NEEDLE WITH NEEDLE TIP PROTECTION

An insulin injection needle with needle tip protection has a needle body, needle base, main cover and outer sheath. The main cover is provided with the trigger tube, front casing and spring. The trigger tube is used to protect the injection section of needle body before use and the front casing is used to protect the injection section of needle body after use. Before use, the trigger tube extends out of the main cover and is in the state of protecting the needle, and the front casing is in the main cover; after, the trigger tube is in the main cover and the front casing extends out of the main cover and protects the needle. The unlocking of trigger tube and front casing correlate with injection readiness and the tail cover and needle base trigger the unlocking of trigger tube and front casing during the installation.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ERGONOMIC NEEDLE PROTECTOR

Provided is a system and method for an ergonomic needle protector. More specifically, provided is an ergonomic needle protector for a needle having a first curvature. The ergonomic needle protector has a flexible body having a first end and a second end, and an internal channel extending from the first end towards the second end. The flexible body is formed of a resilient material structured and arranged to return to a curved state along the length of the flexible body according to a second curvature different from the first curvature of the needle. The internal channel structured and arranged to receive the needle when the flexible body is deformed to conform the internal channel to the first curvature and frictionally bind against the needle when the flexible body is released back to the second curvature. An associated method of use is also provided.
