Systems for isolation of a needle-based infusion set
A safety needle assembly of an infusion set for infusing fluids into a subcutaneously implanted access port is disclosed. The needle assembly is configured to prevent fluid/vapor escape therefrom so as to reduce or prevent fluid exposure to a clinician using the needle assembly. In one embodiment, the needle assembly comprises a handle portion including a needle extending therefrom, the needle defining a lumen for passage of a fluid therethrough. The needle assembly also includes a safety assembly defining a needle hole through which the needle initially extends. The safety assembly is selectively and axially slidable along the needle in order to shield a distal tip of the needle and prevent user contact therewith. A fluid isolation component is included in the safety assembly for isolating fluid escape from the needle to prevent exposure to a clinician.
NEEDLE ASSEMBLIES WITH SAFETY SYSTEMS AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREFOR
Safety needle assemblies that include a needle having a sharp distal tip and a needle tip cover mounted on the needle are disclosed. The needle tip cover includes a proximal wall having an opening for the needle to pass therethrough. The needle tip cover urges against the needle in a ready to use position and shields the sharp distal tip in the secured position. The needle tip cover is moved proximally by a biasing member after the needle has been inserted into a patient a predetermined depth.
Cap for medicament delivery device
The present disclosure provides a cap assembly (1) for a medicament delivery device (6), the cap assembly comprising a tubular body (4) and a first lid (2), wherein the tubular body (4) comprises a proximal opening (7) for receiving a proximal part of a medicament delivery device, wherein the tubular body (4) is expandable in a longitudinal direction; and wherein the cap assembly is configured to change shape from a first, not expanded, configuration for protecting a medicament delivery member of the medicament delivery device prior to use to a second, expanded, configuration for storing the medicament delivery device (6) after use.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR PROTECTING A USER FROM A SHARP TIP OF A MEDICAL NEEDLE
A device for protecting a user from a sharp tip of a medical needle includes a central body portion, a medical needle having a sharp tip, a pair of wings in attachment to the central body portion, and a hook-and-loop fastening system disposed on at least one of the wings, and configured to selectively attach the wings together with the medical needle positioned between the wings so as to protect a user from the sharp tip of the medical needle. A method of using the device includes withdrawing a sharp tip of a medical needle from a patient, closing a pair of wings with the medical needle positioned between the wings, and fastening the wings together with the medical needle positioned between the wings so as to protect a user from the sharp tip of the medical needle.

NEEDLE ASSEMBLIES WITH PASSIVE SAFETY SYSTEMS AND RELATED METHODS
Safety needle assemblies that include a needle having a sharp distal tip and a needle tip cover mounted on the needle are disclosed. The needle tip cover includes a proximal wall having an opening for the needle to pass therethrough. The needle tip cover urges against the needle in a ready to use position and shields the sharp distal tip in the secured position. The needle tip cover is moved proximally by a spring after the needle has been inserted into a patient a predetermined depth.
Safety shield for medical needles
A medical needle shield apparatus is provided that includes a needle hub having a needle cannula extending therefrom. At least one shield is extensible from a retracted position to an extended position to enclose a distal end of the needle. The shield includes a binding member disposed within the shield and defines binding surfaces that form an aperture configured for slidable receipt of the inner needle. The binding member includes at least one drag inducing member that engages the inner needle during slidable receipt to create a drag force. The drag force facilitates rotation of the binding member such that the binding surfaces engage the inner needle to prevent slidable movement. The shield and/or hub includes a retention element engageable between the shield and hub and a sheath retention element. The hub includes a magnifier for viewing fluid flashback.
INJECTION DEVICE WITH STABILIZING PASSIVE NEEDLE SHIELD
Medical injection devices incorporate collapsible, passive needle shields for avoiding inadvertent needle tip contact with objects. The needle shield is coupled to the distal end of the syringe barrel, enveloping the needle in its relaxed, non-compressed state. When the needle shield is in a relaxed, non-collapsed state, its contact surface extends distally longer than the needle tip, so that the tip is enveloped and shielded by the contact surface. Abutment of the contact surface against a desired patient body site stabilizes the syringe orientation. Thereafter, the syringe barrel is advanced, which passively collapses the needle shield, so that the now exposed needle tip pierces the patient's body, allowing injection of medical fluids by advancement of the syringe plunger. Injection device embodiments include ocular injection devices for injecting medication through the sclera of a patient's eye.
