COMPACT INJECTOR SYSTEMS AND METHODS
20240091461 · 2024-03-21 ·

Devices and methods for a compact injector are provided with a compact configuration for ease of carrying or storage, and an activated configuration ready for injection. In the compact configuration, a plunger and a needle are both retracted into the injector housing, and upon actuation to the activated configuration, the plunger extends proximally and the needle extends distally, ready for injection. An extendable needle shield is also provided to block visibility of the needle during injection, and to reduce the risk of inadvertent needle stick at other times, including disposal.

In one embodiment there is an injector comprising a housing having a proximal end and a distal end, a shell, a plunger, a needle guard, a first member, and an actuation assembly. The shell may be within the housing and may have a cavity to receive at least a portion of a medicament chamber. The shell may be moveable with respect to the housing from an initial position to an injecting position. The plunger may be moveable with respect to the shell. The needle guard may be moveable between an extended position and a retracted position. The first member may be within the housing. The actuation assembly may be coupled to the housing and the shell. The needle guard may move the first member with respect to the housing as the needle guard moves from the extended position to the retracted position. The actuation assembly may move the shell from the initial position to the injecting position when the first member moves with respect to the housing. The actuation assembly may move the plunger with respect to the shell when the shell is in the injecting position.

Described is a safety device (30) for a medicament container (20) comprising a first sheath (31) having a first ledge (35) and a second ledge (36), a second sheath (32) telescopically arranged with the first sheath and releasably coupled to the first ledge (35), and a finger flange (50, 500) having at least one resilient clip (72) adapted to engage the second ledge (36) first sheath (31).

Autoinjector

An autoinjector basically includes a housing, a pre-filled syringe, a drive chassis, and a needle guard. The pre-filled syringe is mounted in the housing. The drive chassis is configured to move a plunger in the pre-filled syringe to dispense medicament via an urging force from a drive spring. The needle guard is moveable in the housing between a storage state, a dispensing state, and a lock-out state. The needle guard is biased towards an extended position by a lock-out spring. The needle guard selectively engages the housing to establish a frontmost position of the needle guard in the storage state, and an offset position of the needle guard in the lock-out state. The offset position is axially offset from the frontmost position in the distal direction.

SAFETY HOUSING BASED IMPLANT/ MEDICAMENT INJECTING SYSTEM

A safety housing based implant/medicament injecting system. System includes a needle assembly prefilled implant/medicament for injection and an injecting needle/cannula, a housing for accommodating the needle assembly under usual bias inside said housing, a plunger means having a plunger rod configured for stage wise forward motion including an initial injecting plunger forward motion with the needle assembly within the housing to first engage the needle assembly with the housing and subsequent continuing injecting plunger forward motion independent of the needle assembly for injecting of the implant/medicament, and post injecting return of the needle assembly secured inside said housing blocking any subsequent use thereof.

Housing blank and activation member for a medicament delivery device, a kit comprising such blanks, and a medicament delivery device

A housing blank and an activation member blank for a medicament delivery device are disclosed, with a kit including a housing blank and an activation member blank, and a medicament delivery device assembled from the kit. The housing blank includes a mid portion having a through-opening for receiving a proximal end portion of a medicament container assembly, and first and second legs foldable relative to the proximal end portion. The activation member blank includes a central portion and a first and second arm foldable relative to the proximal end portion.

MEDICAMENT DEVICE FOR USE WITH A CONVENTIONAL SYRINGE

The novel medicament devices comprise a housing that preferably contains a preloaded, conventional syringe with medication. Both trained and untrained users may administer an injection safely and conveniently to themselves or others in myriad settings. Certain of the disclosed embodiments rely on the user's manual action to insert the needle. Only after the needle is fully inserted is the medicament delivered, resulting in a safer injection. After use, the devices may include a locking mechanism that locks a spring-loaded sheath in place around the needle for protection. As a common syringe is utilized, engineering and production issues of conventional automatic injectors are avoided. Moreover, with the novel medicament devices, the syringe needle is never directly exposed, avoiding accidental needle sticks and unsuitable syringe disposal.

A device for injecting a medicament includes a housing for a medicament container assembly, and an activation member axially movable relative to the housing between extended and retracted positions with a gripping member. A movement guide mechanism includes a first guide, a second guide that has a locking portion, and a guide follower that slides along the first guide when the activation member moves from the extended position to the retracted position and that slides along the second guide when the activation member moves from the retracted position to the extended position. The gripping member engages the container assembly when the activation member is in the retracted position. The locking portion interacts with the guide follower when the activation member moves from the retracted position to the extended position to restrict movement of the activation member. A method of assembling a delivery device is also disclosed.
