Needle mounting feature for ensuring proper reconstitution sequence

In one aspect, a medical injector is provided herein having a body and an overcap releasably attached to the body configured to prevent mounting of a needle prior to mixing of components within the body. In a further aspect, a slidable collet may be provided useable to urge resilient members from an outward disrupted state inwardly to collectively define a needle mount. Advantageously, a medical injector is provided which ensures proper sequence in preparation of the device, particularly with respect to the step of allowing mounting of a medical needle to the device subsequent to preparation of the medicament to be administered.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SAFETY SYRINGE

One embodiment is directed to a system for injecting, comprising a syringe body defining an interior medicine chamber; a stopper member configured to be inserted into the interior medicine chamber to contain medicine within the medicine chamber; a plunger member configured to be manually manipulated to insert the stopper member relative to the syringe body; and a needle having proximal and distal ends, the proximal end comprising an anchoring geometry configured to be at least partially inserted into the stopper member such that upon retraction of the stopper member, the needle is pulled proximally along with the stopper to be at least partially contained within the interior medicine chamber.

A reuse prevention mechanism includes a guidance arm with a pin engaged in a guidance contour adapted to control movement of the guidance pin, and a blocking part adapted to block access to a needle in a fourth position of the reuse prevention mechanism. The guidance contour is adapted to constrict linear movement of the reuse prevention mechanism in a direction from a first position to a third position.

Retractable needle safety syringes

A barrel adapter mountable to a syringe barrel includes a barrel tip, a biasing member, a locking mechanism, and a needle assembly. A safety syringe includes a barrel, a plunger assembly, and a barrel adapter. The needle assembly includes a needle, a needle hub, and a needle seal. The needle is configured to pass-through the needle assembly, locking mechanism, biasing member, and barrel tip such that, at one end the needle is within the barrel and at another end the needle passes through an aperture in the barrel tip. The barrel may be substantially cylindrical, having along its longitudinal axis a distal end for drug injection, a proximal end for injection control, and at least a portion of the barrel interior for drug containment. The barrel adapter provides needle retraction mechanisms to the barrel to form a safety syringe. Methods of assembling, manufacturing, and using such syringes are also provided.

A needle tip shielding device, comprising a base plate with a hole extending there through from the proximal side of the base plate to the distal side of the base plate, and at least one resilient arm extending at an attachment point at said base plate (101) is provided. The resilient arm has a resting state wherein a distal hook of the resilient arm will coincide with a straight imaginary line extending longitudinally through said hole in the axial direction of said base plate. The resilient arm comprises a knob at its distal end, said knob extending laterally from the resilient arm. The knob is shaped with an outer curvature in the transversal plane around an axis parallel to the central axis of the needle tip shielding device and said knob is shaped with an outer curvature in the midsaggital plane around an axis perpendicular to the central axis of the needle tip shielding device.
