The invention concerns an apparatus (10) for separation of components with different volatility in a mixed fluid, said apparatus (10) comprising: a first heat exchanging unit (100) provided with first and second flow path structures (131, 132) forming separate flow paths for a first and a second fluid flow through the first heat-exchanging unit (100); an inlet (118) for feeding the mixed fluid to the apparatus (10); an inlet (119) for feeding steam to the apparatus (10); an arrangement for feeding a cooling medium through the apparatus (10), wherein said arrangement comprises at least one cooling medium inlet (105, 106, 107, 108). The invention is characterized in that the apparatus (10) comprises a second heat-exchanging unit (200) provided with third and fourth flow path structures (233, 234) forming separate flow paths for a first and a second fluid flow through the second heat-exchanging unit (200), wherein the cooling medium arrangement comprises at least one cooling medium inlet (205, 206, 207, 208) arranged in fluid communication with the fourth flow path structure (234) and wherein the first and third flow path structures (131, 233) are arranged in fluid communication with each other.

Low temperature spray drying of carrier-free compositions

A spray drying process and apparatus for drying a spray dryable liquid composition to a spray dried powder is described, in which the spray dryable liquid composition contains no carrier. The spray dryable liquid composition is processed at a solids concentration not exceeding 80% by weight, based on total weight of the spray dryable liquid composition, being atomized to generate an atomized spray of liquid particles of the spray dryable liquid composition into a spray drying chamber, in which the atomized spray is contacted with a stream of drying fluid flowed at temperature not exceeding 100° C. into the spray drying chamber, to form the spray dried powder.

The process includes flowing the first polymer solution and the second polymer solution to a devolatilization vessel. The process includes removing volatiles from the first polymer solution and the second polymer solution in the devolatilization vessel to form a devolatilized first polymer melt and a devolatilized second polymer melt.

A distillation unit for producing potable water using solar radiation is disclosed. The distillation unit includes a heating chamber defining an interior chamber adapted to contain a non-potable liquid for distillation, and a dome-shaped condensing portion having an inner surface and an outer surface, with the condensing portion disposed over the heating chamber such that the heating chamber and the inner surface of the condensing portion are provided in fluid-transfer communication. The distillation unit also includes a pre-heat jacket having a first surface and a second surface and an interior defined therebetween adapted to receive non-potable liquid for distillation therein. The first surface is disposed adjacent the outer surface of the condensing portion, and the pre-heat jacket defines an access entry for introducing non-potable liquid for distillation into the interior of the heating chamber. The distillation unit also includes a trough adjacent for receiving a potable liquid therein.

PROCESS FOR SEPARATING AN ORGANIC ISOCYANATE

Provided is a process for separating an organic isocyanate prepared by reacting an organic amine with a stoichiometric excess of phosgene in the gas phase from the gaseous crude product obtained in the reaction, the process comprising the steps of (i) at least partially condensing the crude product stream containing at least the isocyanate, hydrogen chloride and unconverted phosgene by contacting with at least one liquid stream containing at least one quench liquid in a first separation apparatus to obtain a liquid stream containing at least some of the quench liquid and some of the isocyanate and a gas stream containing at least hydrogen chloride, evaporated quench liquid and phosgene, (ii) discharging the liquid stream obtained in step (i) via a first liquid outlet and of the gas stream obtained in (i) via a first gas conduit and (iii) at least partially condensing and/or absorbing the gas stream discharged in step (ii) through the first gas conduit, wherein that the at least partial condensation and/or absorption is effected in step (iii) by direct introduction of at least one cooling fluid, wherein the cooling fluid is introduced directly into the first gas conduit via at least one addition unit assigned to the first gas conduit.
