PROCESS FOR USING BIOGENIC CARBON DIOXIDE DERIVED FROM NON-FOSSIL ORGANIC MATERIAL
The present disclosure provides a process for forming a biogenic carbon-based fuel or a fuel intermediate from biogenic carbon dioxide and hydrogen. The hydrogen is sourced from a process that produces hydrogen and fossil carbon dioxide from a fossil-fuel hydrocarbon and separates the fossil carbon dioxide from the hydrogen. The process may further comprise carrying out or arranging for one or more parties to carry out at least one step that contributes to a reduction in the GHG emissions of the biogenic carbon-based fuel, or a fuel made from the fuel intermediate, of at least 20% relative to a gasoline baseline. In various embodiments this includes (a) introducing the fossil carbon dioxide underground, and/or (b) using a biogenic carbon-based product selected from a chemical and energy product produced from the non-fossil organic material to displace the use or production of a corresponding fossil-based product.
PROCESS FOR PRODUCING FUEL USING TWO FERMENTATIONS
A process is provided for forming a fuel or a fuel intermediate from two fermentations that includes feeding an aqueous solution comprising a fermentation product from a first bioreactor to a second bioreactor and/or a stage upstream of the second bioreactor, which also produces the fermentation product. The aqueous solution may be added at any stage of the second fermentation and/or processing steps upstream from the second bioreactor that would otherwise require the addition of water. Accordingly, the product yield is increased while fresh/treated water usage is decreased.
Processing materials
Biomass feedstocks (e.g., plant biomass, animal biomass, and municipal waste biomass) are processed to produce useful products, such as fuels. For example, systems are described that can convert feedstock materials to a sugar solution, which can then be fermented to produce ethanol. Biomass feedstock is saccharified in a vessel by operation of a jet mixer, the vessel also containing a liquid medium and a saccharifying agent.
Natural crystalline colorant and process for production
A crystalline pigment or colorant composition having high color intensity and/or low sugar content, and methods and processes of preparation. The composition may comprise purified fruit and/or vegetable color juices.
Device and method for refining ethanol
A device for refining ethanol is disclosed, which includes a fermentation unit, a low-pressure column, a medium-pressure column, a high-pressure column and a membrane separation unit. A method for refining ethanol is disclosed, which specifically includes the following steps: after fermenting the biomass feedstock, feeding fermented mash into a low-pressure column and a high-pressure column which are connected in parallel for refining, mixing two column top distillates, and feeding the mixed column top distillates into a medium-pressure column for further rectification; and purifying the refined ethanol vapor with higher purity obtained after rectification in the medium-pressure column by a membrane separation unit to obtain high-concentration ethanol product vapor. The disclosure couples the differential pressure rectification and the membrane separation unit, adjusts the energy network structure, greatly reduces the vapor usage amount of the whole system, and has the advantages of good separation effect, high product quality and the like.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR REFINING ETHANOL
A device for refining ethanol is disclosed, which includes a fermentation unit, a low-pressure column, a medium-pressure column, a high-pressure column and a membrane separation unit. System and method for distillation
The present invention relates to a system and method for distillation to reduce steam consumption has been disclosed. The system comprises of an analyser column 11, multiple pressure booster units (fan set-I 79, fan set-II 24, and fan set-III 29), a rectifier column 15, a plurality of evaporator units (30,12), a splitter unit 05, a plurality of de-superheating units (03, 80), and additional DDGS dryer unit 25. The integration of pressure booster units (fan set-I 79, fan set-II 24, and fan set-III 29) and additional DDGS dryer unit 05 increases the steam (vapor) production and reduces the steam (vapor) consumption in the system from external source and balances the optimization of process energy requirements, energy cost, and process carbon intensity.
Systems and methods for rehabilitating alcohol compositions and rehabilitated alcoholic products
A method for removing one or more congeners from an alcoholic composition, including placing a quantity of an alcoholic composition in a pressure-controllable environment, decreasing the pressure of the pressure-controllable environment, removing one or more unwanted congeners from the alcoholic composition to yield a purified alcoholic composition, and removing the purified alcoholic composition from the pressure-controllable environment.
