Methods of operating fluid catalytic cracking processes to increase coke production

A process for upgrading a hydrocarbon feed includes passing the hydrocarbon feed and an aromatic bottoms stream to an FCC unit including an FCC reactor and a catalyst regenerator. The hydrocarbon feed is hydrogen-rich having at least 12 wt. % hydrogen, and the aromatic bottoms stream is a bottoms stream produced from an aromatics recovery complex for processing reformate from naphtha reforming. The hydrocarbon feed and aromatic bottoms stream are cracked over the FCC catalysts to produce an effluent and spent FCC catalysts having coke deposits. The spent FCC catalyst is regenerated through combustion of the coke deposits. The hydrogen-rich hydrocarbon feed does not produce enough coke to satisfy the heat demand of the FCC reactor. Cracking the aromatic bottoms stream increases the amount of coke so that combustion of the additional coke during regeneration produces additional heat to satisfy the heat demand of the FCC reactor.

System and Method for Purifying Vanadium Pentoxide

The present invention provides a system and method for purifying vanadium pentoxide. Industrial grade vanadium pentoxide is converted to vanadium oxytrichloride by low temperature fluidizing chlorination, wherein chlorinating gas is preheated via heat exchange between fluidizing gas and chlorination flue gas, and an appropriate amount of air is added to enable a part of carbon powder to combust so as to achieve a balanced heat supply during the chlorination, thereby increasing the efficiency of chlorination and ensuring good selectivity in low temperature chlorination. The vanadium oxytrichloride is purified by rectification, and then subjected to plasma oxidation, thereby obtaining a high-purity vanadium pentoxide product and chlorine gas. The chlorine gas is returned for low temperature chlorination. The system and method have advantages of favorable adaptability to raw material, no discharge of contaminated wastewater, low energy consumption and chlorine consumption in production, stable product quality, etc.

FATTY ACID COMPOSITION

This disclosure relates to the field of renewable oil compositions and to the use of renewable oil compositions for production of hydrocarbon compositions, which can be used for traffic fuels and other solutions. An exemplary composition contains free fatty acids and triglycerides, in a concentration of free fatty acids from 15 wt-% to 80 wt-% and a remainder being predominantly triglycerides. A method for producing hydrocarbons from a renewable oil feedstock, in which the feedstock which contains free fatty acids from 15 wt-% to 80 wt-%, and a remainder being predominantly triglycerides, is subjected to a pretreatment process followed by a hydrotreatment process for obtaining hydrocarbons.

PRODUCTION OF AT LEAST 1-HEXENE AND OCTENE FROM ETHENE

The invention is concerned with the production of 1-hexene and octenes from ethene. 1-Butene is optionally also to be produced. The problem addressed by the present invention is that of developing a process for producing 1-hexene from ethene by MTHxE etherification to achieve better chemical utilization of the employed carbon atoms. This problem is solved by catalytic retrocleavage of MTHxE into the C.sub.6 olefins and the alcohol, reuse of the alcohol in the etherification and reaction of the obtained C.sub.6 olefins with ethene to afford C.sub.8 olefins. In this way the alcohol is not lost from the process but rather is internally recirculated as a derivatizing agent. The less attractive C.sub.6 olefins from the cleavage product are upgraded to octene with further ethene in order to provide a further commercial product.
