Pressurized Vapor Cycle Liquid Distillation
Embodiments of the invention are directed toward a novel pressurized vapor cycle for distilling liquids. In some embodiments of the invention, a liquid purification system is revealed, including the elements of an input for receiving untreated liquid, a vaporizer coupled to the input for transforming the liquid to vapor, a head chamber for collecting the vapor, a vapor pump with an internal drive shaft and an eccentric rotor with a rotatable housing for compressing vapor, and a condenser in communication with the vapor pump for transforming the compressed vapor into a distilled product. Other embodiments of the invention are directed toward heat management, and other process enhancements for making the system especially efficient.
Smart fog net
A system for collecting water may include a base and a first arm connected to the base. The first arm may have a first base portion connected to the base and a first extension portion opposite the first base portion. The system may further include a grid extended between the base and the first extension portion. The grid may include a set of hydrophilic fibers extending substantially parallel to the base and a set of hydrophobic fibers intersecting with the hydrophilic fibers.
OXY-FUEL POWER GENERATION AND OPTIONAL CARBON DIOXIDE SEQUESTRATION
There are disclosed systems and methods for generating electrical power from oxy-fuel combustion in a turbine system. The turbine system makes use of recycled steam as a components of the turbine working fluid. Also disclosed is an integrated recuperator and separator, which may be used with the turbine system, configured to separate water and carbon dioxide from exhaust fluids from the turbine system, heat from the exhaust fluids being used to generate steam from the separated water for recycling to the turbine system. Carbon dioxide separated from the exhaust fluids is condensed to a liquid or supercritical phase and sequestered in a subsurface natural gas reservoir from which natural gas fuel for the turbine system is extracted.
Short-path distillation apparatus and method
A short-path distillation apparatus and method of operation are described. An example short-path distillation apparatus includes a double-walled bulb-shaped condensing head. The double wall forms a coolant chamber that substantially envelopes an inner condensate chamber. Coolant is introduced into and removed from the coolant chamber via ports in the outer wall of the head. Condensate in gaseous form is introduced into the condensate chamber where it comes in contact with and condenses as distillate upon the cold inner surface of the condensate chamber. Condensed distillate travels down the inner surface of the condensate chamber and then into a distillate outlet conduit that transports the condensed distillate to a collection vessel.
WATER SCAVENGING SYSTEM FOR DATACENTER COOLING SYSTEMS
Cooling a first device and second device in a fashion to produce water. The method includes collecting environmental air from an environment. The environmental air is used to cool a first device. Cooling the first device generates first device exhaust air produced from the environmental air. The first device exhaust air is provided to a first device portion of a heat exchanger. At a second device portion of the heat exchanger, thermally coupled to the first device portion of the heat exchanger, second device exhaust air generated by cooling a second device is received. At the heat exchanger, the first device exhaust air is used to cool the second device exhaust air to a dew point, causing condensed water to be created from the second device exhaust air. The condensed water is collected.
Smoke capturing system and method
A vapor/smoke capturing trap system featuring a smoke chamber trap for precipitating the smoke dispersed in the chamber. The chamber includes a bottom pool for containing a reservoir of a liquid solvent, and a gas filled portion in which a lower smog portion contains fog-sized droplets of the liquid solvent and into which the smoke is introduced, and an upper clear portion in which the concentration of the smoke and the droplets is decreased, respective of their concentration in the smog portion. A fog-condenser, disposed between the smog portion and the clear portion, precipitates the fog droplets of the smog portion into the pool. A fine mist generator streams a jet of fog-sized droplets of the liquid solvent mixed with smoke toward a concentration of the smoke at the smog portion. A closed loop gas circulator withdraws gas from the clear portion and recirculates the gas under pressure through the fine mist generator into the smog portion. Fresh smoke is introduced into the gas circulator via a smoke conveying conduit. A complementary smoke capturing method includes filling the reservoir, streaming the jet of fog-sized droplets toward a concentration of smoke dispersed within the lower smog portion of the gas filled portion, precipitating droplets, in the smog portion, into the pool by a fog-condenser disposed between the lower smog portion and the upper clear portion of the gas filled portion, recirculating under pressure, in a closed loop gas circulator, gas withdrawn from the clear portion into the smog portion through the fine mist generator, and conducting fresh smoke via smoke conveying conduit into the gas circulator.
WATER DISTILLATION SYSTEM AND METHOD OF DISTILLING WATER
A distillation system has an evaporator that uses heated air circulating in water to transport water laden air to a cooling apparatus. The cooling apparatus condenses the water present in the water laden air to produce distilled water, which is free of the biological matter and minerals that may have been present in the water present in the evaporator. The apparatus can include an airlift pump. A method of distilling water comprises the steps of generating an airflow; heating the airflow to obtain a heated airflow; providing the heated airflow to the water to heat the water and to produce water saturated air; and cooling the water saturated air to obtained distilled water.
Flue gas condensation water extraction system
A flue gas condensation water extraction system includes a flue gas condensation-end system and a flue gas refrigeration source-end system. The flue gas condensation-end system includes a desulfurization absorption tower, a flue gas purification and condensation tower, and a condensed water storage tank. The flue gas purification and condensation tower is arranged above the desulfurization absorption tower. A flue gas outlet, a water inlet, and a water outlet are provided on the flue gas purification and condensation tower. The flue gas refrigeration source-end system includes a cooling tower. The water outlet is connected to the condensed water storage tank via a condensed water downcomer. The water inlet is connected to the cooling tower via a circulating water supply pipe. A condensation circulation water pump is provided on the circulating water supply pipe. The cooling tower is connected to the condensed water storage tank via a circulating water return pipe.
