Cooling Systems Having An Integrated Ionic Liquid Salt Dehumidification System
20230383963 · 2023-11-30 ·

A cooling system utilizes an organic ionic salt composition for dehumidification of an airflow. The organic ionic salt composition absorbs moisture from an inlet airflow to produce an outlet airflow with a reduce moisture from that of the inlet airflow. The organic ionic salt composition may be regenerated, wherein the absorbed moisture is expelled by heating with a heating device. The heating device may be an electrochemical heating device, such as a fuel cell, an electrochemical metal hydride heating device, an electrochemical heat pump or compressor, or a condenser of a refrigerant cycle, which may utilize an electrochemical pump or compressor. The efficiency of the cooling system may be increased by utilization of the waste heat the cooling system. The organic ionic salt composition may circulate back and forth or in a loop between a conditioner, where it absorbs moisture, to a regenerator, where moisture is desorbed by heating.

Atmospheric Water Harvester with Cryogenic System

An atmospheric water harvesting system includes a water-harvesting unit with an air mover and a heat exchanger. The water-harvesting unit may also include one or more screens on which water can condense. The water-harvesting unit is supplied by a coolant pathway, in which a non-cryogenic fluid coolant flows. A cryogenic cell is in the coolant pathway. The cryogenic cell receives the fluid coolant and removes heat from it by causing or allowing a controlled heat transfer between the fluid coolant and a first cryogen sealed within an inner vessel in the cryogenic cell. The coolant may be a liquid at operating temperatures, and the cryogenic cell may cool it to an appropriate temperature without a phase change, essentially acting as a “cold battery” to remove heat from the coolant.

HYDROCARBON GAS RECOVERY METHODS

A method of recovery of rich gas where the rich gas is a hydrocarbon gas comprising less than 50 mole % methane is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of gathering the low pressure gas, compressing the gathered gas, cooling the compressed gas in a condenser so that a portion of the compressed gas condenses to form a liquefied gas and liquefied gas vapour in the condenser, and discharging the liquefied gas and liquefied gas vapour from the condenser, in which the cooling of the compressed gas is performed using at least one heat exchanger (40).

Switchable System for High-Salinity Brine Desalination and Fractional Precipitation

A saline feed stream flows into a liquid-liquid extraction system; and a volatile organic solvent flows through a main compressor. The compressed volatile organic solvent then flows through a solvent regenerator, which can be a heat exchanger or a combination of a vaporization device and a condenser, to cool the volatile organic solvent. The cooled volatile organic solvent in liquid phase then flows into the liquid-liquid extraction system, where the saline feed stream contacts the volatile organic solvent to selectively extract water from the saline feed stream into the volatile organic solvent, producing a concentrated brine and an organic-rich mixture of water and the volatile organic solvent. The organic-rich mixture flows from the liquid-liquid extraction system into the solvent regenerator, where the organic-rich mixture is heated to produce an organic-rich vapor and desalinated water; and the organic-rich vapor is recycled as volatile organic solvent back into the liquid-liquid extraction system.

Cryogenic gas separator

Contaminants are removed from a raw natural gas stream and other types of mixed-gas streams by a separation system. The system is based on using a series of cryogenic cells, devices that can impose essentially any desired temperature and pressure conditions on a volume of incoming gas, down to cryogenic temperatures and up to multiple atmospheres of pressure. Used in succession at specific setpoints of temperature and pressure, the cryogenic cells cause gaseous contaminants in the raw gas stream to condense into liquid form, at which point, they can be separated from the stream. Flowmeters and component detectors, like mass spectrometers, are used to detect the state of the gas stream at various points in the system. The system may be divided into stages, each stage having cryogenic cells operating at different setpoints of temperature and pressure, in order to cause different contaminants to liquefy for separation.

Embodiments described herein relate to a heat exchanger for abating compounds produced in semiconductor processes. When hot effluent flows into the heat exchanger, a coolant can be flowed to walls of a fluid heat exchanging surface within the heat exchanger. The heat exchanging surface can include a plurality of channel regions which creates a multi stage cross flow path for the hot effluent to flow down the heat exchanger. This flow path forces the hot effluent to hit the cold walls of the fluid heat exchanging surface, significantly cooling the effluent and preventing it from flowing directly into the vacuum pumps and causing heat damage. Embodiments described herein also relate to methods of forming a heat exchanger. The heat exchanger can be created by sequentially depositing layers of thermally conductive material on surfaces using 3-D printing, creating a much smaller footprint and reducing costs.
