System and method to process effluent brine and interface rag from an oil dehydration/desalting system

A system and method for processing interface emulsion, water, and solids contained within a separator vessel that comprises the steps of continually extracting those components from the vessel and then passing them through a gas flotation cell. The cell, which is preferably a vertical induced gas flotation cell, separates the oil and water contained in the interface emulsion and discharges recovered oil from an upper portion of the cell and treated water from a bottom portion of the cell. The recovered oil and treated water may be further processed and recycled to the vessel or sent elsewhere. The treated water may also be recycled to the cell or sent to a process sewer. Fuel gas residing in an upper portion of the cell may be cooled and passed through a splitter. All the steps of occur in a closed system with no air emissions.

A tank for separating solids from a wort, the tank including: a container having inner surface portions defining an interior container space, and outer surface portions facing away from the interior container space; a whirlpool arrangement configured create a whirl of the wort; wherein the tank further includes a cooling arrangement configured to cool at least a portion of the interior container space for cooling the wort.

Lysing of organic matter with augmented oxidizing agents creating a solution with reduced microbial concentration

Described herein is a method for differentially lysing a liquid sample or target material using an Augmented Oxidizing Agent (AOA), which includes a quantity of Electronically Modified Oxygen Derivatives (EMODs). The method reduces or eliminates total dissolved solids (TDS), total suspended solids (TSS), microbial concentration, biofilms and other content in the liquid target material known or suspected to contain animal fluids, blood and blood cells and suspected or known to contain eukaryotic cells, microbial cells, bacteria, viruses, spores, fungi, prions, organic matter, minerals, proteins or associated structures. The TDS and TSS can be lowered or eliminated as desired. This action is directly proportional to the quantity of EMODs in the AOS applied to the liquid target material.

Device for Efficient Continuous Electrokinetic Dewatering of Phosphatic Clay Suspensions

Various examples related to electrokinetic dewatering (EKD) of suspensions such as, e.g., phosphatic clay suspensions are provided. In one example, a system for continuous EKD includes cake dewatering unit having a lower conveying belt extending across a dewatering chamber; an upper conveying belt extending across at least a portion of the dewatering chamber; and a sludge inlet configured to supply a sludge suspension on the first end of the lower conveying belt. The conveying belts can extend across the dewatering chamber at an angle. Rotation of the conveying belts draws the sludge suspension through an electric field where the sludge suspension is dewatered. The electric field can be established between an upper anode and a lower cathode. The upper and lower conveying belts can include the anode and cathode. A suspension thickening unit can provide a thickened sludge suspension the cake dewatering unit for enhanced dewatering.

A filter is provided including a vessel having an input positioned near the top of the vessel for contaminated fluid; the vessel containing media; a drain screen; a propeller rotatable on a drive shaft extending downwardly from the top of the vessel; a deflector plate below the drain screen to impel media outwardly from the center of the vessel; a plurality of baffles positioned on side walls of the vessel; and a drain to remove fluid from the vessel.

System and method for treating liquids and solutions to remove and/or separate components thereof using stabilized gas infused liquids
10807021 · 2020-10-20 · ·

A system for treating liquids and solutions for separating components thereof, the system including a treatment vessel having a treatment chamber therein, a device for generating a gas-infused liquid under elevated pressure, and a device for stabilizing the gas-infused liquid such that most of the gas infused into the liquid by the device for generating a gas-infused liquid will remain in the liquid if pressure of the liquid is reduced to atmospheric pressure, and for flowing the stabilized gas-infused liquid into the treatment chamber so as to form a liquid layer including the stabilized, gas-infused liquid in the treatment chamber. The treatment vessel includes a discharge port through which some of the stabilized, gas-infused liquid in the liquid layer may be discharged from the treatment vessel, the withdrawn liquid is infused with an additional amount of the gas, again stabilized, and again flown the liquid into the treatment chamber.

Animal byproduct recovery system

A system for recovery of animal byproducts and providing water reuse from an animal processing plant waste stream. In one embodiment of the invention there is an equalization tank forming part of an animal processing plant that is mechanically filtered to recover animal byproducts from a water mixture in the equalization tank. In another aspect of the invention there is a skimmer tank that contains a skimmer mixture with water and animal byproducts. The system mechanically separates the animal byproducts from the skimmer mixture in a manner that is suitable for human consumption. The system also allows the separated water to be reused in the animal processing plant.

PARTICLE SETTLING DEVICES

Settling devices for separating particles from a bulk fluid with applications in numerous fields. The particle settling devices include a first stack of cones with a small opening oriented upwardly or downwardly. Optionally, the settling devices may include a second stack of cones with a small opening oriented downwardly or upwardly. The cones may be concave or convex. These devices are useful for separating small (millimeter or micron sized) particles from a bulk fluid with applications in numerous fields, such as biological (microbial, mammalian, plant, insect or algal) cell cultures, solid catalyst particle separation from a liquid or gas and waste water treatment.

Glycerin separation system and method of use
11873271 · 2024-01-16 ·

A glycerin separation system heats a mixture of glycerin to about 231 degrees Fahrenheit and then allows the mixture to rest in a settling tank. Over time the mixture separates into layers of differing densities. The layers are removed individually by measuring the density of the exiting fluid. The glycerin is heating in a loop to allow for precise control of the temperature of the mixture. The pH is also controlled with a preferable level of 5.
