Systems and methods for generating and using a water filtration media containing date seed powder are provided. The method of generating the date seed powder for use in a water treatment system includes drying the date seeds, cleaning and removing the date seed envelopes, grinding the date seeds, and segregating the date seed powder according to a predetermined particle size. The method of using the date seed powder to treat water includes using a treatment tank with a date seed media bed layer, introducing water, and filtering suspended solids from the water stream using the date seed media bed layer. The system utilizing the date seed media bed layer includes a treatment tank, a date seed media bed layer, water inlets and outlets, backwashing equipment, and media support screens.

A filter assembly includes a body of filter media, a seal, and a compression ring. The body of filter media having a first end surface, a second end surface spaced apart from and opposing the first end surface, and an outer surface extending between the first end surface and the second end surface. The seal surrounds the first end surface. The compression ring is disposed about the second end surface. The compression ring includes a first channel configured to allow fluid communication between the second end surface and the outer surface.

A regenerable system for filtration of microfibres contained in a liquid effluent from a textile treatment device comprises at least one enclosure (10) in which a granular medium (30) is arranged, means (100) for passage by percolation of the liquid effluent through the granular medium, means (110) for discharging the liquid effluent under granular medium (30), and means (120) for connection to means for regeneration by fluidization of granular medium (30). A water intake and pretreatment system (10) comprising an inlet for delivering water from a natural source to a reservoir (12); said inlet to reservoir having a net screen (16) to prevent entry of organisms above a predetermined size and including a one-way gate (30) to allow organisms to exit the reservoir; said reservoir further comprising a granular filter media for water and algae filtration; and a drainage layer for removal of filtered water from the granular filter media to a drainage outlet. A method of filtering a main fluid using a rotary fluid filter. A 360 degree filtration cycle is initiated by receiving, at an initial position, a first portion of a main fluid at a front end of a first fluid flow passage extending through a filter body rotationally mounted within a housing. The filter body is rotated in a rotation direction and the first portion of the main fluid is discharged from a rear end of the first fluid flow passage, having passed through a filter received in the first fluid flow passage. The filter body is rotated further in the rotation direction and a first portion of a backwash fluid is received through the first fluid flow passage from the rear end to the front end. The rotational cycle is completed by rotating the filter body back to the initial position.

The present disclosure provides improved methods for conducting a wash cycle in a filtration unit. The methods may be used alone or in combination with one another to achieve the improvements described herein. Filtration units adapted for carrying out the novel methods are also provided. Through the use of the methods and filtration units described, significant economic benefits are obtained without a significant increase in the costs of the filtration unit or in the costs of operation of the filtration unit.
