Finned strainer
The present invention relates to filters used to remove debris from water being sucked into a piping system. It has particular application use in nuclear power plants, which, after a loss of coolant accident, must pump cooling water back into the reactor core from a collection sump. This water may contain various types of debris that must be removed before the water is sent back into the reactor cooling system. There are restrictions on the allowable pressure drop across the strainer and the space available for installing this equipment. The finned strainer of the present invention addresses these issues while maximizing the quantity of debris filtered from the water.
FILTER ASSEMBLY WITH LATERAL REMOVAL OF TIE RODS, AND ASSOCIATED METHOD
A wastewater filter assembly has a base, a filter module or casing, modular filter plates disposed in said filter module or casing atop the base, a header disposed on the filter module, tie rods each coupled at a lower end to the base, and tensioning elements removably connected to upper ends of the tie rods to fix the tie rods to the filter module and press the filter plates into relative rigid relationship. The tie rods are disposed in laterally open elongate channels extending along vertical edges of the filter module. The tie rods, upon a loosening or removal of the respective tensioning elements, can be shifted at least partially in a horizontal direction out of the laterally open elongate channels and laterally away from the filter module.
Filters for liquid flow based devices and systems
A filter includes an inlet side, an outlet side, and a body. The body includes a first substrate that includes an array of inlet holes passing through the first substrate, and a second substrate that includes an array of outlet holes passing through the second substrate. The body further includes an intermediate region that includes a plurality of channels extending along a plane that is transverse or at an angle to a main axis of the filter. Each channel communicates directly or indirectly with at least one of the inlet holes and at least one of the outlet holes. The filter provides a plurality of fluid flow paths through the body from the inlet side to the outlet side.
DISC TUBE REVERSE OSMOSIS MODULE
A disc tube reverse osmosis module is provided. In various embodiments, deflector disc assemblies and associated membranes are sequentially alternately disposed from top to bottom. The upper flange is in sealing connection with the central pull rod, the upper lock nut is in threaded connection with an upper end of the central pull rod and located above the upper flange, the yielding water collecting pipe sleeves the central pull rod and is in sealing connection with a lower side of the lower flange, the lower lock nut is in threaded connection with a lower end of the central pull rod, an end of the yielding water receiving pipe is fixedly connected to the yielding water collecting pipe, an inner surface of the shell is respectively in sealing connection with the upper flange and the lower flange, and the water inlet receiving pipe and the concentrated liquid receiving pipe are fixed to the lower flange.
HYDROGEN SULFIDE PRODUCTION METHOD AND SULFUR RECOVERY METHOD
An object of the present invention is to provide a hydrogen sulfide production method enabling efficient recovery of sulfur. The production method is a method for producing hydrogen sulfide from sulfur and hydrogen comprising (1) a reaction step of reacting sulfur and hydrogen to obtain a crude hydrogen sulfide gas, (2) a purification step of purifying the crude hydrogen sulfide gas by bringing the crude hydrogen sulfide gas into contact with aliphatic lower alcohol in a packed tower to precipitate sulfur contained in the crude hydrogen sulfide gas, (3) a discharge step of discharging from inside the packed tower a suspension of sulfur in aliphatic lower alcohol obtained in the purification step, and (4) a filtration step of filtering the aliphatic lower alcohol suspension of sulfur with a filter to obtain a sulfur cake, and the filter 20 is a rotary filter 22 or a leaf filter.

Methods and apparatus for treating water and wastewater employing a cloth filter
A backwash header for a cloth filter includes a body having a length, a diameter, first and second ends, a longitudinal axis, and an exterior surface, the body defining at least one internal cavity. The body includes at least one suction slot sized to allow fluids and solids to enter the internal cavity from outside of the exterior surface. A structure is attached to a portion of the exterior surface of the body around and extending away from the suction slot to form an open-ended chamber defined by the structure and a portion of the exterior surface near the suction slot. The structure allows fluids and solids to enter the open-ended chamber and then the suction slot and cavity from a material being cleaned. Cloth filters and methods of treating water and wastewater using the backwash headers and cloth filters.
