Ballast water treatment systems
A ballast water treatment system. Implementations may include an intake screen, a ballast water intake pump coupled to the intake screen, a screen filter coupled to an outlet of the ballast water intake pump, and a multi-cartridge filter system coupled to the screen filter and with one or more ballast tanks. A ballast water dump pump may be coupled with the one or more ballast tanks. The multi-cartridge filter system may include two or more cartridge filters including a quaternary organosilane coating produced from a quaternary ammonium organosilane reagent.
ELECTROMAGNETIC PRIMING OF MOLTEN METAL FILTERS
According to one aspect of the present disclosure, a method of priming a ceramic filter element for removal of solid inclusions from liquid metal is provided. The filter element is contained in a filter box and at least two separate inductors are placed on opposed sides of the filter element. The method includes the steps of a) applying an excitation current to the inductors, b) adding sufficient liquid metal to cover an upstream side of the filter element, c) allowing the current induced in the liquid metal by the inductors to create Lorentz forces which press upon and stir the liquid metal such that the liquid metal is forced into the ceramic filter element, hence priming the filter element, and d) discontinuing the excitation current once a predetermined degree of priming has been obtained.

Method for separating PHA and PHA prepared therefrom
Provided a method for separating PHA and PHA prepared therefrom. The method comprises the following steps: subjecting a PHA fermentation broth to solid-liquid separation to obtain a thallus precipitate; breaking cell walls of the thallus precipitate, and subjecting obtained wall-broken products to a plate and frame filtration to obtain PHA; a filter cloth for the plate and frame filtration is pre-coated with a PHA layer. The method adopts a plate and frame separation to replace the traditional centrifugal separation to prepare PHA, and the PHA layer is pre-coated on the filter cloth for the plate and frame filtration, thereby overcome the defects in the prior art such as high cost and operational difficulty caused by adopting multiple centrifugal separations; in addition, the method of the present disclosure also exhibits the advantages of high recovery rate of PHA and high purity of the prepared PHA product.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR COATING SUBSTRATES WITH WASHCOATS
An apparatus and a method for coating substrates with washcoats in which a substrate (10) is engaged with a headset (6) of a substrate coating apparatus (1) below a washcoat showerhead (5) are disclosed. The washcoat is discharged from the washcoat showerhead (5) onto an upper surface (12) of the substrate under control of a valve assembly (4) before being drawn through the substrate by use of a vacuum generator (7). The valve assembly (4) comprises an outlet valve movable between a closed state and an open state. The valve assembly (4) creates a pressure drop within an interior of the washcoat showerhead (5) when the outlet valve moves from its open state to its closed state.
