Methods of inhibiting fouling in liquid systems
Provided are methods of inhibiting microbial fouling and improving efficiency in biocide dosing in an industrial process containing an aqueous liquid having a biocide demand. In exemplary embodiments, the methods comprise treating an aqueous liquid having a biocide demand with a biocide, monitoring the biocide demand of the aqueous liquid, and filtering a stream of the aqueous liquid. The filtering may be performed in a full-flow or side stream manner.
SOLID-LIQUID SEPARATOR AND SOLID-LIQUID SEPARATION SYSTEM
A solid-liquid separator that separates solid particles from a fluid in which the solid particles are dispersed includes: a flow channel part where a linear flow channel into which the fluid is introduced is formed; and an ultrasonic vibrator as a secondary flow generation mechanism that generates a secondary flow in a cross-section direction in the fluid flowing on an upstream side of the flow channel. The flow channel includes a rectangular cross section defined by a flow channel width and a flow channel height perpendicular to the flow channel width. An aspect ratio of the cross section at least on a downstream side from the secondary flow generation mechanism in the flow channel is in a range from 10 to 100, the aspect ratio being expressed by a ratio of the flow channel width to the flow channel height.
Regenerative Media Filter Cleaning Apparatus and Method
A method of filtering water in a system comprising a regenerative media filter is disclosed. The method includes operating the system in a filtration mode, operating the system in a cleaning mode responsive to a differential pressure measurement across the regenerative media filter, and operating the system in a pre-filtration mode after operating the system in the cleaning mode. A water filtration system is also disclosed. The water filtration system includes a regenerative media filter vessel, a pressure sensor subsystem, a filtrate line, a feed line, a recirculation line, a plurality of valves, at least one pump, and a controller. The controller is configured to direct the water through the system. A method of facilitating filtration of aquatic or recreational facilities water is also disclosed. The method includes providing a water filtration system and providing a controller.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MANUFACTURING A SILK FIBROIN SOLUTION AND POWDERS CONTAINING SILK FIBROIN
The disclosure relates to systems and methods for improving the manufacturing of silk solutions and powders containing silk fibroin obtained from silkworm cocoons. The solutions and powders can be used to improve the post-harvest preservation of perishables and to improve the performance of packaging, including biodegradable packaging.
Water purifier and flow rate control method therefor
Provided is a water purifier that includes a filtering unit for producing purified water by filtering influent water; a TDS measuring unit for measuring the total dissolved solids (TDS) in the water flowing into the filtering unit; a purified water passage through which the purified water is discharged; a concentrated water passage through which concentrated water, filtered by the filtering unit, is discharged; a concentrated water flow control valve for controlling the flow rate of the concentrated water discharged through the concentrated water passage; and a control unit for adjusting the degree of opening and closing of the concentrated water control valve, on the basis of the TDS and the pressure of the water flowing into the filtering unit.

Water purifier and control method for water purifier
Provided is a water purifier comprising: a filter unit filtering water supplied from a water source, including a reverse osmosis filter; a discharge unit discharging water filtered by the filter unit externally; a flushing portion connected to the reverse osmosis filter; and a controller configured to flow water filtered by the reverse osmosis filter to the flushing portion, and to flush the reverse osmosis filter.
RECIRCULATING FLUID FILTRATION SYSTEM
A fluid filtration system comprising a cross-flow filter is arranged to permit a first pump to recirculate part of the retentate of the filter to the inlet of the cross-flow filter and a second pump to return part of the permeate to the inlet of the cross-flow filter. A third pump is configured supply source fluid to the inlet of the filter. The flow path between the second pump and the cross-flow filter inlet may include an adsorption filter that may selectively remove contaminants, toxins, or pathogens in the permeate. A controller may control the first, second and third pumps to provide predetermined flow ratios among the fluid flow paths of the system in order to achieve a desired filtration level. This system may be applicable to the removal of harmful substances from blood, by first separating the plasma from the blood and then removing harmful substances from the plasma.
