An air purification system for installation over a vent. The air purification system includes a housing including a rear-section having a filter-compartment; and a front-section having a set of horizontal-slats (louvers). Further, the air purification system includes a filter-receptacle removably received within the filter-compartment and configured to removably house a filter-means such as a HEPA filter. The filter-receptacle can be lowered from the housing so that a user may change or clean the filter-means, and then raised back into the housing for use. The air purification system is useful for filtering particles such as pet hair, pollen, mold, viruses, bacteria, etc. from air vented through the vent, therefore purifying air in a building.

The pocket channel frame provides a means for attaching the distal ends of a pocket frame without the need of any tools. The pocket channel frame is formed from a longitudinal member having an elongated “C” shaped cross section. One end comprises is a flared out female end with a rectangular slot or 5 hole in it. The opposing distal end of the longitudinal having a C shaped cross section is swaged down into a projecting male end including a lance punched in the web. When the male end is swaged, an edge is created in the transition area from male to female which acts as a stop means for cooperatively engaging the female receiving distal end and sets the length of a short side of the pocket channel frame. During assembly, the lance snaps into the hole cooperatively engaging the slot on the 10 female side preventing the channel frame from coming back apart.

The air filter housing further comprises a closing arrangement controllable to be in each of a first state in which the filter housing outlet is closed by the closing arrangement, and a second state in which the filter housing outlet is open. The closing arrangement may comprise an iris shutter.

An exemplary apparatus includes a trocar comprising an inlet at a distal end and an exit port at a proximal end, the inlet and the exit port are fluidly connected by a tubular hollow body circumscribing a cavity extending through a longitudinal axis of the trocar, the trocar includes a filter maintained within the cavity operable to filter at least one of fluid and particulates from a flow passing through the cavity. The apparatus further includes a vacuum source fluidly connected to the exit port, the vacuum source operable to pull at least one of fluid and particulates through the inlet, the cavity and the exit port.
