A combined water aeration and filtration unit (WAFU), having a tank with a vent section at a top of said WAFU and above an aeration section above a filtration section at a bottom of said WAFU. The vent section has one or more demisters and one or more vents for detraining water and providing a dry air exit from said WAFU. The air section has a water inlet ending in a spray nozzle near the top of the aeration section to turn incoming dirty water into water droplets and a forced air blower on a side or top of the aeration section for blowing air through said water droplets in rate sufficient to remove volatile organic compounds and precipitate manganese and iron. The aeration section also has one or more annular rings or partially annular baffles on an inside wall of the tank to force water from said inside wall into an interior of the tank. Thus, no water escapes aeration. A backwash collection trough and backwash water outlet are positioned above the filtration section for removing dirty backwash water from the unit. The filtration section has one or more filters therein and a drain and clean water outlet near its bottom for egress of clean water from said WAFU.

Media retention plate for a block underdrain system

A media retention plate for an underdrain system having one or more filter blocks. The plate can include a first slot configured to allow the passage of air and a second slot configured to allow the passage of water during an air backwash. The media retention plate is configured to facilitate the water to flow back into the one or more filter blocks through the second slot while maintaining air flow through the first slot to create an optimal collapse pulse. The first and second slots are evenly sized and evenly spaced apart to facilitate the creation of a relatively smaller-sized collapse pulse during a sequential air-water backwash. A plurality of inserts can be arranged along a perimeter of a basal portion of the bottom surface of the media retention plate. The inserts improve the structural integrity of and prevent uplift of the media retention plate.

In situ treatment system and method for dewatering and stabilization of waste material deposits in waste impoundments

A system and method for in situ dewatering and stabilizing waste material deposits previously created from sluicing into a waste impoundment. The method includes access for installation of wells and grading for surface drainage and storm water control. If free water is present, primary dewatering siphons or decants the free water in the pond. The system includes vertical dewatering well installation that requires drilling, well completion materials for filtering leachate, and well pump installation for removing leachate from the well. Collection piping collects leachate from the wells and transfers the leachate to a discharge solution. The dewatering operation collects and removes leachate from the pond ash deposit and impoundment, reuses or treats the leachate at a discharge solution, remediates contaminants and/or hydraulic head in the impoundment, and consolidates and stabilizes the dewatered solids. Impoundment closure includes horizontal drains, final grading, final cover or overfill landfill development, and post closure.

Aquarium undergravel filter

A surface filter for aquarium water purification is placed on the bottom of the aquarium that sucks the waste out of the tank to the canister filter. Small plastic pieces make and connect the main stream channels. Each plastic piece is composed of a couple of inverted pyramids that acts like a funnel. Water flows through the main channels sucked by an external filter. In the base of each inverted pyramid a small hole opens to the drainage channel, which has a hollow inverted V shape. Water, particles and fish waste are passed through the channels to the external filter. At the end of the assembly a cross channel collects the drained water. Collected water is transferred to the external filter outside the aquarium. A hose connects the external filter with the collector. Another hose is connected to the same filter to return the filtered water back to the aquarium.

A water holding system 1 including lining a hole 2 with both a permeable 10 and impermeable 20 to water layer in the form of a film or sheet, the impermeable layer 20 positioned exterior relative to the permeable layer 10 the hole 2 is filled with a water permeable filtration medium 3, wherein the water holding system 1 includes a valve 30 positioned at a base 1a of the water holding system 1 and an access pipe 40 including Agi pipe extending from the valve 30 to ground level 4.

FEEDBACK CONTROLLED GAS LIFT CONVEYANCE OF SLURRY
20250347297 · 2025-11-13 ·

A gas lift conveyance device moves a slurry through an upwardly extending lifting section of a conduit in communication from a source location at a first pressure to a discharge location at a lesser second pressure. A gas injector of the device injects gas into the conduit through a variable position valve that is controlled by a controller that uses a representative value measured by a sensor as input to a closed loop control algorithm of the controller. The representative value may be a pressure or flow rate that is representative of the gas delivery rate. The device provides: (i) automated control over the delivery rate of slurries; (ii) real time values of air rate, valve position, and pressure; (iii) a reduction of energy input due to optimal use of air; and (iv) a reduction in air pumps stalling or plugging failures.
