Calcium cobalt zirconium perovskites as oxygen-selective sorbents for gas separation
The present disclosure provides methods to use calcium cobalt zirconium perovskites as oxygen-selective sorbents for the separation of oxygen from a gas mixture such as air. Systems and high temperature oxygen detectors are also provided. In a preferred embodiment, the perovskite is configured as a membrane.
Wet scrubber apparatus for ammonia capture
A method for removing ammonia from a gas stream divides the gas steam into a plurality of separate gas streams and sprays a dilute acid solution into the streams. The acid solution is aqueous sulfuric acid and ammonium sulfate is produced. A device is used to divide the gas stream, the device having a plurality of conduits in fluid communication with a plenum. Spray nozzles are located in each conduit to spray the acid solution into the gas streams. The device creates less than 10 Pa back pressure to the gas stream.
Scrubbing solution for absorption of carbon dioxide and method for accelerating the absorption by germanium dioxide
A scrubbing solution is provided having an absorbent for carbon dioxide based on amines, or ethanolamines, or amino acid salts, or potash, or a combination thereof, and an additive activating the absorption rate, wherein the activating additive is a germanium dioxide. A corresponding method for accelerating the absorption of carbon dioxide is also provided, wherein a carbon dioxide-containing gas is contacted with such a scrubbing solution, wherein the carbon dioxide is physically dissolved in the scrubbing solution and is chemically absorbed with the participation of the absorbent, and wherein the germanium dioxide acts catalytically for at least one reaction step of the chemical absorption of the carbon dioxide.
Preparation of an aqueous reagent for the absorption or destruction of pollutants
Process for treating a medium by the removal or destruction of one or more undesired substances present in said medium, comprising combining hydrogen peroxide and alkali hydroxide in an aqueous solution to form superoxide, and bringing the resultant superoxide-containing solution into contact with said medium. The process is useful for the destruction of halogenated organic pollutants and also for carbon dioxide removal from flue gases. The process can also be applied for soil remediation.
CARBON DIOXIDE TRAPPING DEVICE AND METHOD CAPABLE OF PRODUCING ELECTRICITY
An apparatus and process are provided for electricity production and high-efficiency trapping of carbon dioxide, using carbon dioxide within combustion exhaust gas and converging technologies associated with a carbon dioxide absorption tower and a generating device using ions which uses a difference in concentration of salinity between seawater and freshwater. It is expected that enhanced electrical energy production efficiency, an effect of reducing costs for the operation of a carbon dioxide trapping process, and electricity production from carbon dioxide, which is a greenhouse gas, can be simultaneously achieved by increasing the difference in concentration using an absorbent for absorbing carbon dioxide.
Scrubber system improvement for sulfur containing gas streams
An improvement in a wet scrubbing process for treating gaseous industrial process streams which contain one or more of SO.sub.2, SO.sub.3, H.sub.2SO.sub.4 which comprises contacting the stream of gas with a countercurrent flow of liquid derived from a circulating liquid stream which includes (i) a purge stream configured to remove a portion of the circulating liquid having a concentration of H.sub.2SO.sub.4 from the process, and (ii) a liquid make-up stream configured to replace the portion of the circulating liquid that is removed from the circulating liquid stream, the improvement comprising controlling the flow of liquid make-up whereby the concentration of H.sub.2SO.sub.4 in the purge stream is increased to a useful value; and filtering the purge stream to remove unwanted contaminants to yield a clarified purge stream.
CARBON DIOXIDE REMOVAL USING SEQUESTRATION MATERIALS THAT INCLUDE SALTS IN MOLTEN FORM, AND RELATED SYSTEMS AND METHODS
The removal of carbon dioxide using sequestration materials that include salts in molten form, and related systems and methods, are generally described.
HIGH TEMPERATURE HYDRATOR
An apparatus includes a fluidized bed vessel with inlet ports arranged to receive at least one feed stream comprising calcium oxide, calcium carbonate, water, and a fluidizing gas into a fluidized bed vessel. The calcium oxide contacts the water to initiate a hydrating reaction to produce calcium hydroxide and heat. The fluidized bed vessel is configured to operate with a fluidization velocity that fluidizes and separates at least a portion of the calcium carbonate and at least a portion of the calcium oxide into a first fluidization regime, and at least a portion of the calcium hydroxide and at least another portion of the calcium oxide into a second fluidization regime. The apparatus further includes a heat transfer assembly configured to transfer heat of the hydrating reaction to the calcium carbonate, and a cyclone configured to separate a portion of the fluidization gas from a portion of at least one of the calcium hydroxide, calcium carbonate or calcium oxide.
Method and device for obtaining water from ambient air
A method for obtaining water from ambient air is disclosed that includes bringing the ambient air into contact with at least one liquid absorption agent for absorbing at least one part of the water contained in the ambient air, conveying an absorption agent diluted by the absorbed water to a first heat exchanger, and transferring the diluted absorption agent in at least one desorption device. Water desorbed in the desorption device is transported to the first heat exchanger, the desorbed water being cooled by means of the diluted absorption agent by means of the first heat exchanger. A device for obtaining water from ambient air is also disclosed.
Filtering Product
In accordance with some embodiments herein, a filtering product is provided. The filtering product includes titanium dioxide (TiO.sub.2), cetrimonium bromide (CTAB) and ascorbic acid (C.sub.6H.sub.8O.sub.6). The filtering product may be used for filtering smoke of a water pipe. Alternatively and/or additionally, the filtering product may be used for filtering gas.
