ROTATING PACKED BEDS WITH INTERNAL HEAT TRANSFER FOR ABSORPTION/REGENERATION APPLICATIONS
A gas-liquid contacting apparatus and method are described, in which at least one rotor assembly including packing is arranged in a contacting chamber containing at least one stator assembly including at least one heat exchanger arranged to thermally modulate the gas-liquid contacting so that each stator assembly is operatively arranged with each stator assembly to provide gas-liquid contacting at temperatures effective for mass exchange between the gas and liquid. The rotor and stator assemblies may be of annular shape, or may be of disk shape in a stacked array of rotor assemblies alternating with stator assemblies. Such apparatus and method are usefully employed for CO.sub.2 capture from CO.sub.2-containing flue gases such as combustion effluents from power generation plants.
APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR ENHANCING GAS-LIQUID CONTACT/SEPARATION
An environmental control system includes an air conditioning subsystem; a mix manifold downstream of the air conditioning subsystem and upstream of an environment to be conditioned; and a contaminant removal subsystem downstream of the environment to be conditioned. The contaminant removal subsystem includes a first gas-liquid contactor-separator. The first gas-liquid contactor-separator includes a first rotating porous bed that provides a heat/mass transfer surface for contact between a contaminated air from the environment and a liquid absorbent.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ADJUSTING CARBON DIOXIDE AND WATER CONCENTRATIONS IN AN ENVIRONMENT
A device controls levels of carbon dioxide and water in a controlled environment. The device comprises a first electrode chamber, which receives an input fluid comprising first concentrations of carbon dioxide and water and is configured to deliver a first output fluid having concentrations of carbon dioxide and water lower than the first concentrations to a first environment, and a second electrode chamber having an outlet configured to deliver a second output fluid having third concentrations of carbon dioxide and water to a second environment. A reduction catalyst layer in the first electrode chamber reduces carbon dioxide and water in the input fluid to form ionic carrier species, an ion-transporting membrane is positioned between the first and second electrode chambers and comprises carrier species, and an oxidation catalyst layer in the second electrode chamber oxidizes the ionic carrier species to form carbon dioxide and water.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR RECOVERY OF PURIFIED WATER AND CONCENTRATED BRINE
This disclosure provides water processing apparatuses, systems, and methods for recovering purified water and concentrated brine from wastewater. The water processing apparatuses, systems, and methods utilize ionomer membrane technology to separate water vapor from volatiles of a wastewater stream. The wastewater stream is evaporated into a gas stream including water vapor and volatiles of the wastewater stream in an evaporation container. The gas stream is delivered to a water separation module spatially separated from and fluidly coupled to the evaporation container. The water vapor of the gas stream is separated out in the water separation module while the volatiles are rejected. The water vapor can be collected into purified water while concentrated brine from the wastewater stream is left behind in the evaporation container.
Dual stripper with water sweep gas
An environmental control system includes an air conditioning subsystem and a contaminant removal subsystem downstream of the environment to be conditioned. The contaminant removal subsystem includes a first gas-liquid contactor-separator, a second gas-liquid contactor-separator, and a third gas-liquid contactor-separator. One of the first, the second, and the third gas-liquid contactor-separators is configured to receive used absorbent liquid having at least a first contaminant and discharge at least a first contaminant for recovery and reuse. Another of the first, the second and the third gas-liquid contactor-separators is configured to receive used absorbent liquid having at least a second contaminant and discharge at least the second contaminant for recovery and reuse.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SEPARATING GASES
The invention pertains to processes for separating water from air. The processes may employ using an LCST solution with or without subsequent reverse osmosis, nanofiltration, or ultrafiltration.

HYDROXYL GROUP-CONTAINING AMINE-BASED SULFUR DIOXIDE AND SULFUROUS ACID ABSORBENT, AND METHOD FOR PREPARING THE SAME
The present disclosure relates to a hydroxyl group-containing amine-based sulfur dioxide and sulfurous absorbent, and a method for preparing the same. The absorbent uses an ionic liquid in the form of a salt including a diamine compound substituted with a hydroxyl group, and can be used as an absorbent capable of removing not only sulfur dioxide (SO.sub.2) but also sulfurous acid (H.sub.2SO.sub.3) formed by combination of sulfur dioxide with water.
SUBSTRATE PROCESSING APPARATUS AND SUBSTRATE PROCESSING METHOD
A substrate processing apparatus includes a processing container configured to accommodate a substrate and perform a substrate processing that generates a byproduct that becomes a source of a harmful gas; and a liquid holder provided in an area of the processing container where the byproduct generated by the substrate processing adheres and configured to hold a liquid that adsorbs the byproduct.
Method and system for reducing CO2 emissions from industrial processes
A method and an integrated system for reducing CO.sub.2 emissions in industrial processes. The method and integrated system (100) capture carbon dioxide (CO.sub.2) gas from a first gas stream (104) with a chemical absorbent to produce a second gas stream (106) having a higher concentration of carbon monoxide (CO) gas and a lower concentration of CO.sub.2 gas as compared to first gas stream. The CO gas in the second gas stream is used to produce C.sub.5 to C.sub.20 hydrocarbons in an exothermic reaction (108) with hydrogen (H.sub.2) gas (138). At least a portion of the heat generated in the exothermic reaction is used to regenerate the chemical absorbent with the liberation of the CO.sub.2 gas (128) captured from the first gas stream. Heat captured during the exothermic reaction can, optionally, first be used to generate electricity, wherein the heat remaining after generating electricity is used to thermally regenerate the chemical absorbent.
