Filtered Containment Venting System
A filtered containment venting system includes a filtered containment venting tank having: an organic iodine remover for collecting organic iodine; scrubbing water for collecting inorganic iodine; and an alkalizing agent for adding an action of buffering a pH value to the scrubbing water.
Method for dehumidifying humid gas mixtures using ionic liquids
The invention relates to a process for dehumidifying a moist gas mixture. The invention further relates to an apparatus for dehumidifying a moist gas mixture and to the use of said apparatus in the process according to the invention.
Process for dehumidifying moist gas mixtures
The invention relates to a process for dehumidifying a moist gas mixture and to the absorption medium used in the process. The invention further relates to an apparatus for dehumidifying a moist gas mixture and to the use of said apparatus in the process according to the invention.
PROCESS FOR SYNTHESIZING ZWITTERIONIC BASES, ZWITTERIONIC BASES, PROCESS FOR CAPTURING CO2 AND USE
The present invention relates to a process for capturing CO2 on a large scale using aqueous solutions of zwitterionic bases by contacting a gas stream containing one or more acid gases with said solutions. The internal salts obtained in the present invention have the advantage of not being volatile, being less susceptible to chemical and thermal decomposition, and also have lower absorption enthalpy. The present invention can be used in various industry sectors, such as in the energy sector, for capturing CO2 from exhaust gases, in the chemical sector, for removing CO2 from the gas streams of catalytic processes in which the CO2 can poison the catalysts, and, in particular, in the oil and gas sector, for purifying natural gas.
Materials, systems, and methods for CO2 capture and conversion
A system configured to capture CO.sub.2 and able to be washed of the captured CO.sub.2 includes a material including an ionic liquid configured to capture CO.sub.2 in response to exposure to a gas comprising CO.sub.2 and to a thermal energy source and an aerogel holding the ionic liquid therein. The system may also include a washing solution configured to wash the captured CO.sub.2 from the material.
OXYGEN CONCENTRATING SELF-RESCUER DEVICE
A process for converting post-explosion gases of an inhabitable level, low-oxygen ambient environment to a breathable mixture for human consumption comprises receiving a flow of post-explosion gas with oxygen, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen, and methane. The oxygen, carbon monoxide, and carbon dioxide are removed from the from the flow of post-explosion gas to create both a mixture including oxygen, carbon monoxide, and carbon dioxide; and a residual stream including nitrogen and methane. The oxygen is removed from the mixture of oxygen, carbon monoxide, and carbon dioxide, and concentrated in a primary oxygen storage canister. The nitrogen is removed from the residual stream and stored in a nitrogen storage canister separate from the oxygen storage canister. The methane is vented back to the inhabitable level, low-oxygen ambient environment. The stored oxygen and nitrogen are metered through a breathing mask at a habitable level of 19-21% oxygen to a user.
Capture and release of acid gasses using tunable organic solvents with binding organic liquids
A class of water lean, organic solvents that can bind with various acid gasses to form acid gas bound molecules having a high degree of intramolecular hydrogen bonding which enables their use as regenerable solvents for acid gas capture. Unlike the other devices described in the prior art, the present invention takes advantage of shortened distances between the portions of the molecule that form hydrogen bonds within the structures when loaded with an acid gas so as to create a molecule with a higher internal bonding affinity and a reduced proclivity for agglomeration with other molecules.
Liquid Desiccant Based Dehumidification and Cooling System
A liquid desiccant system including a high desorber, a low desorber, and an absorber that are in fluid communication with a working solution, where the high desorber provides rejected water vapor from the working fluid for condensation in a condenser of the low desorber that provides heat for rejection of additional water from the working solution in the low desorber effectively multiplying the heat provided for desorption. The low desorber provided the concentrated working solution to the absorber where water from ambient air is condensed into the concentrated working solution to provide a dilute working solution within a working solution conduit of the absorber that is thermally coupled to an internal cooler of the absorber. In some embodiments, the working solution can be an aqueous solution of at least one ionic liquid.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS INCORPORATING IONIC LIQUIDS FOR ELECTROCHEMICALLY MEDIATED CAPTURING OF LEWIS ACID GASES
The present invention generally relates to methods and systems for capturing a Lewis acid gas (e.g., CO.sub.2). In some embodiments, the methods and systems utilize an ionic liquid incorporated into one or more electrochemical cells.
1-Amino-2-Methyl-2-Propanol Derivatives
Amines and amine derivatives that improve the buffering range, and/or reduce the chelation and other negative interactions of the buffer and the system to be buffered. The reaction of amines or polyamines with various molecules to form polyamines with differing pKa's extend the buffering range resulting in polyamines that have the same pKa yields a greater buffering capacity. Derivatives that result in zwitterionic buffers improve yield by allowing a greater range of stability.
