CATALYSTS AND METHODS FOR THE HYDRATION AND ABSORPTION OF CARBON DIOXIDE
The present disclosure provides catalysts comprising zinc and one or more ligands that improve the hydration of carbon dioxide at a zinc metal center, including but not limited to ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid and its derivatives. In certain embodiments, one or more of the ligands on the zinc is water that is replaced with carbon dioxide. In certain embodiments, the zinc catalyst coordinates an appropriate carbon dioxide adsorption solvent to reduce the activation energy for carbon dioxide hydration. Methods and apparatuses that are designed to efficiently utilize sorbents with improved sorption and desorption characteristics, such as those that include an inorganic catalyst or modified carbonic anhydrase, are also disclosed.
Filter and method for producing same
A filter for binding constituents of a gas stream includes a supporting member and a filter layer applied to surfaces of the supporting member. The filter layer includes a component for the physisorption of constituents, a component for the chemisorption of constituents, and a component for dissolving oil constituents which comprises ionic liquids.
Systems and methods incorporating ionic liquids for electrochemically mediated capturing of lewis acid gases
The present invention generally relates to methods and systems for capturing a Lewis acid gas (e.g., CO.sub.2). In some embodiments, the methods and systems utilize an ionic liquid incorporated into one or more electrochemical cells.
Ionic liquids comprising heteraromatic anions
Some embodiments described herein relate to ionic liquids comprising an anion of a heteraromatic compound such as optionally substituted pyrrolide, optionally substituted pyrazolide, optionally substituted indolide, optionally substituted phospholide, or optionally substituted imidazolide. Methods and devices for gas separation or gas absorption related to these ionic liquids are also described herein.
Gas Sorbent and Carbon Dioxide Separation and Recovery System and Method
A gas sorbent is characterized in that a gas sorbing material that undergoes a phase change from solid to liquid at time of gas sorption and also undergoes a phase change from liquid to solid at time of gas desorption is supported in a carrier and the sorbent keeps its solid-like outer shape before/after the phase changes of the gas sorbing material.
Carbon Dioxide Sorbent and Method for Producing Carbon Dioxide Sorbent
A carbon dioxide sorbent characterized in that carbon dioxide sorbing material incorporated in pores of the porous inorganic particles is sealed in the pores with a resin.
SYSTEM FOR FLUID SEPARATION, METHODS OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME
A device for separation of fluid species is disclosed. The device comprises at least one header connected to a monoblock. The header transitions one or more fluid streams between bulk flow and multi-channel flow patterns using a transition element. The header is attached to a monoblock, which conditions an untreated process fluid stream by adjusting the temperature of, and/or separating at least a portion of one or more fluid species from, the untreated process fluid stream. Fluid separation is accomplished by the use of high boiling point liquids infused into the pore structure of the monoblock with the outputs being a conditioned process fluid stream and an exhaust fluid stream. Methods of making the device and methods of using the device to separate at least a portion of fluid species from a process fluid stream are also disclosed.
Combined oxidation and absorption of NOx by an ionic liquid tandem process
The present invention relates to a new strategy for capturing NO.sub.x using a two-step process.
Methods and systems for treating a switchable polarity material, and related methods of liquid treatment
A method of treating a switchable polarity material comprises introducing a first feed stream comprising a solvent and a non-polar form of the switchable polarity material to a first side of a gas diffusion membrane. A second feed stream comprising an acid gas is introduced to a second side of the gas diffusion membrane opposing the first side of the gas diffusion membrane. Molecules of the acid gas of the second feed stream are diffused across the gas diffusion membrane and into the first feed stream to form a product stream comprising a polar form of the switchable polarity material. A treatment system for a switchable polarity material, and a method of liquid treatment are also described.
