A METHOD FOR ADSORBING ETHYLENE GAS USING AMORPHOUS GRANULAR STARCH
The invention discloses a method for adsorbing ethylene gas using amorphous granular starch. The method firstly prepares amorphous granular starch, wherein starch slurry is prepared from starch with a ethanol aqueous solution and NaOH solution is added dropwise so as to react at 30 to 35 C. for 20 to 50 minutes; Then the slurry is centrifuged, neutralized with an ethanol hydrochloride solution, washed and dried to obtain the amorphous granular starch. The amorphous granular starch is placed in a high-pressure reactor and ethylene gas is introduced after the reactor is vacuumized to react at 0.8 to 1.5 Mpa and 20 to 30 C. for 15 to 25 h so that starch powder product adsorbing with ethylene is obtained. The test result shows that the content of ethylene in the obtained product can reach more than 30%. The method is simple, highly efficient and cheap for the adsorption process of ethylene, and the product is expected to be widely applied in the field of fruit and vegetable modified atmosphere preservation.
Solar thermal unit
Solar thermal units and methods of operating solar thermal units for the conversion of solar insolation to thermal energy are provided. In some examples, solar thermal units have an inlet, and a split flow of heat absorbing fluid to either side of the solar thermal unit, along a first fluid flow path and a second fluid flow path. Optionally, one or more photovoltaic panels can be provided as part of the solar thermal unit, which may convert solar insolation to electric power that may be used by a system connected to the solar thermal unit.
Photoactive separation of solutes
Disclosed are methods of separating solute from solvent using a photoactive extractant. The photoactive extractant can be switched between two states by exposure to light. This can change the affinity of the photoactive extractant for either the solute or the solvent, causing absorption of the solute or solvent. The photoactive extractant can then be separated from the fluid stream containing the solute or solvent. The absorbed solute or solvent is then separated from the photoactive extractant. The photoactive extractant is a photoisomer. Applications for these methods include desalination, water purification, and metal extraction.
Olefin polymerization catalyst system comprising mesoporous organosilica support
A catalyst system comprising a combination of: 1) an activator; 2) one or more metallocene catalyst compounds; 3) a support comprising an organosilica material, which may be a mesoporous organosilica material. The organosilica material may be a polymer of at least one monomer of Formula [Z.sup.1OZ.sup.2SiCH.sub.2].sub.3 (I), where Z.sup.1 represents a hydrogen atom, a C.sub.1-C.sub.4 alkyl group, or a bond to a silicon atom of another monomer and Z.sup.2 represents a hydroxyl group, a C.sub.1-C.sub.4 alkoxy group, a C.sub.1-C.sub.6 alkyl group, or an oxygen atom bonded to a silicon atom of another monomer. This invention further relates to processes to polymerize olefins comprising contacting one or more olefins with the above catalyst system.
Filter and method for producing same
A filter for binding constituents of a gas stream includes a supporting member and a filter layer applied to surfaces of the supporting member. The filter layer includes a component for the physisorption of constituents, a component for the chemisorption of constituents, and a component for dissolving oil constituents which comprises ionic liquids.
SULFUR SCAVENGING MATERIALS
Materials which react with (scavenge) sulfur compounds, such as hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans, are useful for limiting sulfur-induced corrosion. Surface-modified particles incorporating a hexahydrotriazine moiety are disclosed and used as sulfur scavengers. These surface-modified particles are used a filter media in fixed filter systems and as additives to fluids including sulfur compounds. The hexahydrotriazine moiety can react with sulfur compounds in such a manner as to bind sulfur atoms to the surface-modified particles, thus allowing removal of the sulfur atoms from fluids such as crude oil, natural gas, hydrocarbon combustion exhaust gases, sulfur polluted air and water. The surface-modified particles may, in general, be sized to allow separation of the particles from the process fluid by sedimentation, size-exclusion filtration or the like.
