The connection pressure includes a single pressure or a plurality of pressures at which both the amine unit and the reduction oxidation unit are configured to operate.
MEMBRANES FOR GAS SEPARATION
Membranes, methods of making the membranes, and methods of using the membranes are described herein. The membranes can comprise a support layer, and a selective polymer layer disposed on the support layer. In some cases, the support layer can comprise a gas permeable polymer and hydrophilic additive dispersed within the gas permeable polymer. In some cases, the selective polymer layer can comprise a selective polymer matrix and carbon nanotubes dispersed within the selective polymer matrix. The membranes can exhibit selective permeability to gases. As such, the membranes can be for the selective removal of carbon dioxide and/or hydrogen sulfide from hydrogen and/or nitrogen.
Method and device for cooling a synthesis gas flow
The invention relates to a method and to a device for performing a process (P) having at least one heat-consuming process step (F). A first fluid (2), which arises in the process and contains acid gases and water vapor, is cooled indirectly against a second fluid (7), an acidic condensate thus being formed. The invention is characterized in that the first fluid (2) is cooled in at least two successive steps (E1, E2), between which heat for use in the heat-consuming process step (V) is indirectly drawn from the second fluid (10).
Process for producing CO from CO2 in a solid oxide electrolysis cell
The invention concerns a process for producing carbon monoxide (CO) from carbon dioxide (CO.sub.2) in a solid oxide electrolysis cell (SOEC) or SOEC stack, wherein CO.sub.2 is led to the fuel side of the stack with an applied current and excess oxygen is transported to the oxygen side of the stack, optionally using air or nitrogen to flush the oxygen side, and wherein the product stream from the SOEC, containing CO mixed with CO.sub.2, is subjected to a separation process. The process further comprises heating the inlet gas on both the fuel side and the oxygen side by means of separate heating units, so as to supply heat to the SOEC, where the operation temperature of said heating units is at least equal to the operation temperature of the cell stack minus 50 C., preferably at least equal to the operation temperature of the cell stack.
CARBON DIOXIDE SEPARATION/CONVERSION DEVICE
The carbon dioxide separation/conversion device includes: one or more separation units (10) configured to separate carbon dioxide from a carbon dioxide-containing gas to obtain a carbon dioxide-enriched gas; a reaction unit (30) including a catalyst which absorbs and converts the carbon dioxide in the carbon dioxide-enriched gas, and configured to allow the catalyst to absorb the carbon dioxide in the carbon dioxide-enriched gas to obtain a converted gas containing a conversion product formed of the carbon dioxide absorbed by the catalyst and hydrogen; and a hydrogen delivery unit (40) configured to deliver the hydrogen to the reaction unit (30), in which the separation unit (10) includes: one or more separation membrane modules including a separation membrane which separates the carbon dioxide from the carbon dioxide-containing gas; and a separation membrane module connection unit connected to each separation membrane module and including a carbon dioxide delivery port through which the carbon dioxide-enriched gas is discharged.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR RECYCLING TAIL GAS IN SYNGAS FERMENTATION TO ETHANOL
The invention present provides a method (and suitable apparatus) to convert biomass to ethanol, comprising gasifying the biomass to produce raw syngas; feeding the raw syngas to an acid-gas removal unit to remove at least some CO.sub.2 and produce a conditioned syngas stream; feeding the conditioned syngas stream to a fermentor to biologically convert the syngas to ethanol; capturing a tail gas from an exit of the fermentor, wherein the tail gas comprises at least CO.sub.2 and unconverted CO or H.sub.2; and recycling a first portion of the tail gas to the fermentor and/or a second portion of the tail gas to the acid-gas removal unit. This invention allows for increased syngas conversion to ethanol, improved process efficiency, and better overall biorefinery economics for conversion of biomass to ethanol.
Method for oxygen removal from hydrogen using adsorbent
The present subject matter relates generally to a method for the removal of oxygen from hydrogen using a manganese, iron, nickel or cobalt based adsorbent. More specifically, the present subject matter relates to the methods for the removal of oxygen from hydrogen using a manganese based adsorbent without the generation of water or other oxides.
Method for removal of a foulant from a carrier gas in a single vessel using recycled cold solids
A method for removal of a foulant from a carrier gas is disclosed. A solids conveyance device that spans a vessel and a solids coolant system are provided. A cold solid foulant is provided to the solid inlet of the vessel. The carrier gas containing the foulant is provided to the carrier gas inlet of the vessel. The foulant condenses or desublimates onto the recycled solid foulant, forming a foulant-depleted carrier gas and a solid foulant product. The solids conveyance device passes the solid foulant product out of the vessel. The foulant-depleted carrier gas leaves the vessel. The solid foulant product is split into a final solid foulant product and a recycled solid foulant. The recycled solid foulant is cooled through the coolant system to produce the cold solid foulant. In this manner, the foulant is removed from the carrier gas.
METHOD AND PLANT FOR GENERATION OF SYNTHESIS GAS
Method and plant for generating a synthesis gas which consists mainly of carbon monoxide and hydrogen and has been freed of acid gases, proceeding from a hydrocarbonaceous fuel, and air and steam, wherein low-temperature fractionation separates air into an oxygen stream, a tail gas stream and a nitrogen stream, wherein the tail gas stream and the nitrogen stream are at ambient temperature and the nitrogen stream is at elevated pressure, wherein the hydrocarbonaceous fuel, having been mixed with the oxygen stream and steam at elevated temperature and elevated pressure, is converted to a synthesis gas by a method known to those skilled in the art, and wherein acid gas is subsequently separated therefrom by low-temperature absorption in an absorption column, wherein the nitrogen stream generated in the fractionation of air is passed through and simultaneously cooled in an expansion turbine and then used to cool either the absorbent or the coolant circulating in the coolant circuit of the compression refrigeration plant.
