Oxygen-enhanced Claus carbon dioxide recovery

Processes and systems for oxygen-enhanced Claus carbon dioxide recovery are disclosed. Oxygen is fed to a sulfur recovery unit instead of air. The tail gas is fed to a tail gas treatment unit which produces a treated tail gas, and the treated tail gas is processed in a carbon dioxide recovery unit to produce a carbon dioxide product. A method for retrofitting an existing sulfur recovery unit and tail gas treatment unit so as to recover the carbon dioxide product is also disclosed.

SCRUBBING COLUMN FOR CLEANING OF GAS STREAMS

The invention provides a scrubbing column for cleaning gas streams laden with absorbent residues, for example with methanol, and also with solid particles, for example with fuel dust. The gas scrubbing is effected by means of a random packing disposed in the lower region of the scrubbing column and the gas scrubbing of the gas stream laden solely with absorbent residues but not with solid particles by means of a structured packing disposed in the upper region of the scrubbing column. The use of the scrubbing column according to the invention in the integrated plant system between a gasification plant and a plant for gas scrubbing which is operated by the Rectisol process, for example, offers particular advantages with regard to its industrial employability owing to the possible connections described, which bring synergies for efficient operation of the integrated plant system.

GAS SEPARATION METHOD AND GAS SEPARATOR

A gas separator includes a separation membrane complex in which a separation membrane with pores having a mean pore diameter less than or equal to 1 nm is formed on a porous support, and a gas supply part that supplies a mixed gas including CO.sub.2 and another gas from the side of the separation membrane to the separation membrane complex. Then, CO.sub.2 in the mixed gas is caused to permeate through the separation membrane and the support and is separated from the mixed gas in a state in which at least part of a permeation surface of the support, from which a gas having permeated through the separation membrane is exhausted, has a temperature lower by 10° C. or more than the temperature of the mixed gas before being supplied to the separation membrane complex.

ACID GAS REMOVAL APPARATUS AND METHOD

The embodiment provides a composite that allows the release of acid gas, even the continuous release of acid gas, at low temperature and with a high acid-gas release rate in a regeneration tower of an acid gas removal apparatus, and a regenerator and an acid gas removal apparatus, in both of which the composite is used, and a method of acid gas removal. The composite according to the embodiment is capable of separating an acid gas from an acid gas absorbent, which has absorbed the acid gas, to regenerate the acid gas absorbent, wherein the composite contains an inorganic layered compound and an aluminum-containing oxide. Also provided are a regenerator using the composite to regenerate an acid gas absorbent that has absorbed an acid gas by allowing the acid gas absorbent to release the acid gas, and an acid gas removal apparatus equipped with the regenerator.

Temperature-swing adsorption process

A temperature swing adsorption process for removing a target component from a gaseous mixture containing at least one side component besides the target component, said process being carried out in at least one reactor performing the following steps: an adsorption step (a), wherein an input stream of said gaseous mixture is contacted with a solid adsorbent selective for said target component, producing a first waste stream depleted of the target component; a heating step (b) for regeneration of the loaded adsorbent providing a first output stream containing the target component; a cooling step (c) of the regenerated adsorbent, said process also comprising: i) a preliminary heating step (a2) before said heating step (b), wherein a gaseous product containing said at least one side component is released from the adsorbent; ii) recycle of said gaseous product to a further adsorption step (a).

BONDED BODY, SEPARATION MEMBRANE MODULE EQUIPPED WITH SAME, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING ALCOHOL

The present invention addresses the problem of providing a bonded body which has a high airtightness and exhibits excellent durability under high-temperature and high-pressure conditions. This problem is solved by a bonded body in which a complex of a zeolite and an inorganic porous support, and a dense member are bonded together by an inorganic glass or an inorganic adhesive. The inorganic glass or the inorganic adhesive has a thermal expansion coefficient of 30×10.sup.−7/K to 90×10.sup.−7/K, and the inorganic glass has a softening point of 550° C. or lower. The present invention also addresses the problem of providing a method of efficiently producing an alcohol by installing a separation membrane in an alcohol synthesis reactor based on a bonding method that gives good sealing performance and durability under high-temperature and high-pressure conditions and in the presence of methanol vapor. This problem can be solved by an alcohol production method of obtaining an alcohol by allowing a raw material gas, which contains at least hydrogen and carbon monoxide and/or carbon dioxide, to react in the presence of a catalyst in a reactor. In the reactor for carrying out the reaction, an alcohol-selective permeable membrane bonded with a dense member is installed, and an alcohol generated by the reaction permeates and is recovered through the selective permeable membrane.
