High pressure recovery of carbon dioxide from a fermentation process
The present invention relates to a method for recovering carbon dioxide from a gaseous stream originating from a fermentation process by compression, absorption, condensation and distillation, wherein at least the absorption and condensation is performed under a high pressure of at least 30 bar.
Catalyst for purification of CO2 from chlorinated hydrocarbons
A process for the purification of CO.sub.2 from chlorinated hydrocarbons and non-chlorinated hydrocarbons, comprising: contacting a CO.sub.2 stream with a chromium oxide catalyst, wherein the stream comprises the CO.sub.2, and impurities, wherein the impurities comprise the non-chlorinated hydrocarbons and the chlorinated hydrocarbons; forming a purified CO.sub.2 stream by interacting the impurities with the chromium oxide catalyst to form additional CO.sub.2 and chromium chloride; and regenerating the chromium oxide catalyst by contacting the chromium chloride with an oxygen containing gas stream.
Processes and apparatuses for reducing carbon monoxide levels in a gaseous stream
Processes for reducing carbon monoxide levels in a carbon dioxide rich gaseous stream. The carbon dioxide rich stream is passed to a preferential oxidation zone to selectively convert carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide. Excess oxygen is consumed by reacting with hydrogen, which may be added or controlled based on PSA operating conditions upstream of the preferential oxidation zone. The preferential oxidation zone may be contained within a bed of a dryer.
Equipment for purifying a wet gas stream containing CO2 and NOx
A plant for purifying a gas stream comprising at least 0.02% by volume of water, CO.sub.2 and NOx, comprising an adsorber characterized by: a cavity (1); an adsorbent (2) included in the cavity (1); an outer casing (3) made of carbon steel; an inner casing (4) made of stainless steel making a space having a width of between 10 and 100 mm between said inner casing and the outer casing, said space being at equal pressure with the cavity.
PROCESSES AND APPARATUSES FOR OPERATING A GAS COMPRESSOR
Processes and apparatuses for operating a centrifugal gas compressor. A storage tank containing a liquid buffer material is provided and used to offset density fluctuations in the gas stream passed to the compressor. The storage tank may contain a component of the high-pressure gas stream provided by the compressor, such as carbon dioxide.
MONITORING GAS IMPURITIES WITH TOTAL SULFUR DETECTION
A system and method for determining impurities in a beverage grade gas such as CO.sub.2 or N.sub.2 relies on FTIR gas analysis for measuring non-sulfur impurities as well as SO.sub.2. CO.sub.2% also can be determined. A multiplexer selects a sample gas from multiple gas samples. Conversion of reduced sulphur present in some impurities to SO.sub.2 is conducted in an oxidizing furnace. Climate control and measurements of oxygen gas impurities also can be provided.
SYSTEM AND METHOD OF REDUCING OXYGEN CONCENTRATION IN AN EXHAUST GAS STREAM
An oxygen scavenging system that includes a first catalytic converter unit configured to receive an exhaust stream from a power production unit. The exhaust stream includes oxygen. The system also includes a hydrocarbon injection unit configured to channel a hydrocarbon stream for injection into the exhaust stream upstream from the first catalytic converter unit such that hydrocarbons from the hydrocarbon stream react with the oxygen from the exhaust stream within the first catalytic converter unit.
MEMBRANES FOR FLUID SEPARATION
Membranes, methods of making the membranes, and methods of using the membranes are described herein. The membranes can comprise a gas permeable support and a continuous phase comprising a selective inorganic material disposed within the gas permeable support. In some embodiments, the membranes can exhibit a CO.sub.2:N.sub.2 selectivity of at least 10 at 24° C. The membranes can be bendable, such that when the membranes are wrapped around a 1.5-inch diameter cylinder and returned to a planar conformation, the CO.sub.2:N.sub.2 selectivity of the membranes is at least 25% of the CO.sub.2:N.sub.2 selectivity of the membranes prior to having been wrapped around the cylinder.
UTSA-74: A METAL ORGANIC FRAMEWORK WITH TWO ACCESSIBLE BINDING SITES PER METAL CENTER FOR GAS SEPARATION AND GAS STORAGE
A metal-organic framework (MOF) and uses thereof are provided herein, including an MOF comprising a repeat unit of the formula [Zn.sub.2(H.sub.2O)L.0.5H.sub.2O].sub.n, wherein L is a ligand of the formula:
##STR00001##
The MOFs provided herein may be used in the separation of two or more gaseous molecules from each other. In some embodiments, the gaseous molecules are carbon dioxide and acetylene.
Steam permselective membrane, and method using same for separating steam from mixed gas
A steam permselective membrane containing a crosslinked hydrophilic polymer is provided. The steam permselective membrane may further contain at least one alkali metal compound selected from the group consisting of a cesium compound, a potassium compound and a rubidium compound.
