Biogas Buffer Storage System
Processes, systems, and associated control methodologies are disclosed that control the flow of biogas during the biogas cleanup process to create a more consistent flow of biogas through the digester, while also optimizing the output and efficiency of the overall renewable natural gas facility. In representative embodiments, a biogas buffer storage system may be used during the cleanup process to control the pressure and flow rate of biogas. The biogas buffer storage system may monitor and control the biogas flow rate to either bring down or increase the digester pressure, thereby maintaining a normalized biogas flow rate.
HEAT INTEGRATED PROCESS AND SYSTEM FOR ORGANIC SOLVENT PRODUCTION USING VAPOR RECOMPRESSION
A distillation and dehydration system is provided that produces an anhydrous organic solvent. The provided system includes vapor recompression (e.g., a mechanical or thermal vapor recompression unit) to recover heat from a rectification-distillation section (e.g., a rectifier/stripper column). The addition of vapor recompression enables further heat recovery within a stream by increasing the condensation temperature and pressure of that stream and later using its latent heat by condensing it.
DRYER, DRYING METHOD, AND DEHUMIDIFICATION FILTER
A dryer includes a dehumidification filter containing a temperature responsive material with an upper critical solution temperature, a fan sending gas through the dehumidification filter, a heater heating the dehumidification filter, and a controller controlling the fan and the heater and switching an operation mode of the fan and the heater between a drying mode and a regeneration mode, wherein, in the drying mode, an object to be dried is dried with the fan sending the gas through the dehumidification filter that is heated by the heater to temperature higher than or equal to the upper critical solution temperature, and in the regeneration mode, the dehumidification filter is regenerated with the fan sending the gas through the dehumidification filter at temperature lower than the upper critical solution temperature.
MOISTURE SWING CO2 SORBENTS WITH ENHANCED CAPACITY AND KINETICS
A composition of matter having a porous cross-linked polymer network, quaternary ammonium ions in the cross-linked polymer network, and at least one counter ion in the cross-linked polymer network that is at least one of hydroxide or a counter ion capable of forming hydroxide upon reaction with water. A method to produce a porous material includes polymerizing a compound containing quaternary ammonium and a cross-linker using controlled polymerization and ion exchange in the presence of at least one of hydroxide or a counter ion capable of forming hydroxide upon reaction with water. A method to capture CO.sub.2, includes employing a sorbent comprising a quaternary ammonium ions in a porous cross-linked polymer network in an environment to adsorb CO.sub.2.
Heat Pump-Based Water Harvesting Systems
Water harvesting systems and methods of making and using such water harvesting systems, for capturing water from surrounding air using configurations that reduce overall energy costs and improves water harvesting cycle efficiency in the water harvesting system. In particular embodiments, the water harvesting system can be configured for dehumidification-humidification of air, and a method in the water harvesting system for dehumidification-humidification to control moisture level in the air conditioned by the water harvesting system. The systems and methods use sorbent materials, such as metal-organic frameworks, to adsorb water from the air. The systems and methods desorb this water in the form of water vapor, and the water vapor can be condensed into liquid water and collected to dehumidify air conditioned by the water harvesting system. The collected liquid water can be sprayed to humidify air conditioned by the water harvesting system.
MULTI WASTE PROCESSOR
A multi-waste processing system includes a processing chamber. The processing chamber includes one or more heaters and a piston, and the processing chamber is configured to evaporate liquid waste and compact solid waste input. A condenser is operably connected to the processing chamber. The condenser is configured to condense water from the evaporated liquid waste output from the processing chamber. A gas and water separator is operably connected to the condenser. The gas and water separator is configured to separate water from the evaporated liquid waste output from the processing chamber. A recirculation pathway connects the gas and water separator to the processing chamber to recirculate gas from the gas and water separator to the processing chamber. The piston is actuated to keep the one or more heaters in close proximity to the solid waste and the liquid waste in the processing chamber.
Methods and systems for liquid separations
Methods and systems for separating liquid components are disclosed. A vessel is provided containing a solids conveyance device. At least a first portion of the vessel acts as an indirect-contact heat exchanger and a second portion of the vessel contains a filter. A process liquid stream, containing a first component and a second component, is passed into the first portion of the vessel. A portion of the second component is frozen and entrained in the first portion of the vessel into the process liquid stream, resulting in a process slurry stream. The process slurry stream is passed into a second portion of the vessel by the solids conveyance device. The process slurry stream is separated into a solid product stream and a primary liquid product stream by passing the primary liquid product stream through the filter and out of the vessel while separately removing the solid product stream out of the vessel.
Adsorption device for compressed gas
An adsorption device for compressed gas, is provided with a vessel with an inlet for the supply of a compressed gas to be treated, and an outlet for treated gas and an adsorption element is affixed in the vessel. The adsorption element extends along the flow direction of the compressed gas to be treated, between the inlet and the outlet. The adsorption element has a monolithic supporting structure that is at least partially provided with a coating that contains an adsorbent.
