Using a passive separator to separate air and fuel of a fuel mixture passively when delivering fuel to a combustion engine of an unmanned aerial vehicle
A fuel delivery system has a tank, a fuel pump, and an air filtering apparatus coupled with the tank and the fuel pump. The air filtering apparatus includes a housing that defines a housing chamber, a fuel flow controller coupled with the housing, and a passive separator disposed within the housing chamber. The passive separator is constructed and arranged to separate air and fuel of a fuel mixture passively while the fuel mixture enters the housing chamber from the tank and while filtered fuel exits the housing chamber toward the fuel pump in response to operation of the fuel flow controller. Such a system is well-suited for supplying fuel to a combustion engine in which consistent fuel pressure may be critical. Furthermore, the passive separator alleviates the need for a power source for active air and fuel separation, a control mechanism, and so on.
Air-oil separator with two flow paths
There is disclosed an air-oil separator for a gas turbine engine. The separator has a first separator section having a first separator rotatably mounted about a rotation axis and having an air-oil mixture inlet and an air-oil mixture outlet; a second separator section having a second separator rotatable about the rotation axis, the second separator having a first air-oil mixture inlet fluidly connected to the air-oil mixture outlet of the first separator, and a second air-oil mixture inlet; and an air outlet. A first flow path extends from the first air-oil mixture inlet to the air outlet through the two separator sections, and a second flow path extends from the second air-oil mixture inlet to the air outlet, solely through the second separator section A method of operating an air-oil separator is also disclosed.
Surface cleaning apparatus
A surface cleaning apparatus includes an air flow path, a filter housing, and a filter member in the filter housing. In some embodiments, the filter member includes a plurality of individual filter elements arranged in parallel, each including porous filter material having at least one upstream face and at least one portion defining a porous filter media air outlet. In other embodiments, the filter member has an outer upstream surface that abuts an axially extending air impermeable wall to inhibit bypass of the filter.
FILTER MEDIA PACK WITH POROUS WRAPPER
A filter media block and filter element incorporating same are provided. Methods of forming a filter media block and filter element are also provided. The filter media block includes a block of filter media and an outer permeable layer. The outer layer provides support for the block of filter media.
Air-oil separator with first separator radially outward of matrix separator
There is disclosed a separator having a first separator and a matrix separator. The first separator caters to an air-oil mixture having a first oil concentration and the matrix separator caters to an air-oil mixture having a second oil concentration being less than the first oil concentration. The matrix separator is disposed at least partially concentrically within the first separator. A wall is disposed radially between the first and second separators. A radial passage extends through the wall. An air-oil mixture outlet of the first separator is fluidly connected to an air-oil mixture inlet of the matrix separator via the radial passage. At least one passage extends radially outwardly from the matrix separator across the first separator. The at least one passage fluidly connects the matrix separator to an environment outside the air-oil separator. A method of removing oil from an air-oil mixture is also disclosed.

A filter media block and filter element incorporating same are provided. Methods of forming a filter media block and filter element are also provided. The filter media block includes a block of filter media and an outer permeable layer. The outer layer provides support for the block of filter media.
SEPARATION METHOD AND ASSEMBLY FOR PROCESS STREAMS IN COMPONENT SEPARATION UNITS
A method for removing contaminants from a process stream that includes the use of reticulated material to filter the process stream. The reticulated material also facilitate process stream flow distribution in process units. The reticulated material can be packed with a void space between a substantial number of the reticulated material that can be varied to enhance filtration and flow distribution. The method of filtering also provides a method of removing contaminants leaving process equipment. The methods can be used on a variety of process streams and process equipment. The reticulated material can include ceramics, metallic materials, and chemical vapor deposition elements. The reticulated material can be of various shapes and sizes, and can also be catalytically active.
Separation method and assembly for process streams in component separation units
A method and assembly for utilizing open-cell cellular solid material in a component separation unit to separate one or more process streams into component process streams having desired compositions. A method and assembly for using said open-cell cellular solid material to separate process streams into desired component process streams in a component separation unit, wherein the open-cell cellular solid material can include oxides, carbides, nitrides, borides, ceramics, metals, polymers, and chemical vapor deposition materials.
