GAS GENERATOR
The present invention relates to a gas generator including a cylindrical filter in a housing including a gas discharge port, the housing including a plurality of independent protrusions or an annular protrusion protruding inwardly from an inner wall surface of the housing, the independent protrusions including an annular protruding wall surface, the annular protrusion including an annular tip surface, the cylindrical filter including a first annular end surface and a second annular end surface, a support member which includes an annular surface portion for supporting the cylindrical filter being arranged, the annular surface portion being an annular planar portion, or including an annular planar portion and a deformed portion for which all or a part of at least one of the inner peripheral portion and the outer peripheral portion of the annular planar portion is deformed, the support member being configured such that a part of the support member including an outer peripheral portion of the annular planar portion is arranged abutting against the annular protruding wall surface of the independent protrusions or the first annular protruding wall surface of the annular protrusion, and the second annular end surface of the cylindrical filter abutting against the annular planar portion of the support member, and the first annular end surface abutting against an inner wall surface of the housing.
INFLATOR, METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME AND MODULE INCLUDING SAID INFLATOR
An inflator as well as a method of manufacturing an inflator, a module including an inflator and an airbag module. In an inflator, especially for a protective device in a vehicle, comprising plural components a sealant is applied in the area of abutting components, especially a sealant which adheres to both abutting components.
Expanded metal filters
Expanded metal sheets are used to produce tubular filters. The expanded metal sheet has a multiplicity of rows of openings arranged to reduce nesting when the sheet is rolled on itself. In particular, the pitch between the rows of openings, the sizes of the openings, or both the pitch between the rows of openings and the sizes of the openings are varied to reduce nesting when the expanded metal sheet is rolled on itself. The filters can include external circumferential grooves, rounded corners produced by a point loading process, textured surfaces between openings, and/or torturous internal paths produced by non-perforated areas of an expanded metal sheet. The expanded metal sheet can be composed of carbon steel coated with a material having a higher heat conductivity, e.g., tin. Among other things, the filters can be used in automobile airbag inflators to capture slag and absorb heat produced by the inflator's explosive charge.
Inflator filter
A filter for an inflator includes a rolled sheet centered on an axis or three dimensionally printed as a whole and including a plurality of openings. A deflector is associated with each opening for directing inflation fluid in a non-radial direction relative to the axis.
Inflatable Valve Filter
A valve filter used for inflatable having infill inside. The valve filter has a filter body to stop the infill from escaping from the inflatable, and a patching sleeve to be attached on the inflatable or air valve of the inflatable.
Seatbelt pretensioner shield and heat energy dissipator
A lap belt pretensioner for a lap belt configured to secure an occupant of a vehicle seat includes a pyrotechnic device. The pyrotechnic device is configured to generate a force directed to tension the lap belt around the occupant and emit an exhaust gas including particulates at high pressure and high temperature as a byproduct of the generated force. The lap belt pretensioner also includes a housing configured to retain the pyrotechnic device and defining an exhaust passage configured to expel the exhaust gas from the lap belt pretensioner. The lap belt pretensioner additionally includes a shield arranged over the exhaust passage and configured to collect and/or deflect the emitted particulates and dissipate heat energy thereof. A vehicle having the vehicle seat mounted to the vehicle structure and employing the seatbelt system is also provided.
Hollow cylindrical filter and manufacturing apparatus
Embodiments of the present invention provide a hollow cylindrical filter for removing efficiently foreign substances from fluids. This is performed by forming complicated passages including an axial direction and a radial direction in the filter. The hollow cylindrical filter is formed by winding a metal wire rod in a spiral and multilayered manner. The metal wire rod includes a recess formed throughout the entire length in a longitudinal direction, or recesses repeated along said longitudinal direction. Some wire rod layers extend in an axial direction of the hollow cylindrical filter while the adjacent wire rod layers extend in an intersecting direction, thereby forming a plurality of communication paths for communicating between the overlapping wire rod layers. Additionally, a space is formed between the recess of one wire rod layer and another adjacent wire rod layer, allowing the plurality of communication paths to communicate with each other.
AIRBAG INFLATOR FILTER USING EXPANDED METAL ORIENTED ROUGH SIDE FACING TOWARD THE INSIDE DIAMETER OF THE FILTER
A flattened expanded metal strip (9) is wrapped into an airbag inflator filter (21) with the strip oriented such that the flattened rough side (17) of the strip is pointing toward the inside diameter (ID) of the filter and the flattened smooth side (15) is pointing towards the outside diameter (OD). With this orientation, the filter (21) is able to capture more slag than filters made using the standard wrapping method in which the smooth side is oriented inward. The expanded metal can be of various types including, for example, variable expanded metal (VEM) or standard expanded metal (SEM).
