A blood processing apparatus may include a heat exchanger and a gas exchanger. At least one of the heat exchanger and the gas exchanger may be configured to impart a radial component to blow flow through the heat exchanger and/or gas exchanger. The heat exchanger may be configured to cause blood flow to follow a spiral flow path.
Full-effect reverse osmosis membrane element, and water purifier having same
A full-effect reverse osmosis membrane element includes a central tube and a reverse osmosis membrane assembly wound around the central tube. The reverse osmosis membrane assembly includes a pair of reverse osmosis membranes attached at front surfaces thereof and wound around the central tube. A water feed channel has a water inlet formed at front edges of the reverse osmosis membranes and a water outlet formed at rear edges of the reverse osmosis membranes. A water division structure is arranged in the water feed channel, and includes a first water division band forming a preset space with the central tube when the reverse osmosis membranes are in an unfolded state. The first water division band divides the water feed channel into a first flow channel having a gradually decreasing cross-section and a second flow channel in communication with the first flow channel.
ALGAE CULTIVATION SYSTEMS AND METHODS RELATED THERETO
The present disclosure relates to methods and systems for algae cultivation including the integration of electrochemical carbonate production for enhancing algae growth. More particularly, the present disclosure relates to methods and systems for producing a sodium hydroxide from brine using an electrochemical cell, contacting the sodium hydroxide stream with a CO.sub.2 gas sweep and producing a carbonate stream, and cultivating an algae slurry in a cultivation vessel comprising at least a portion of the carbonate stream.
Blood processing unit with modified flow path
A blood processing apparatus may include a heat exchanger and a gas exchanger. At least one of the heat exchanger and the gas exchanger may be configured to impart a radial component to blow flow through the heat exchanger and/or gas exchanger. The heat exchanger may be configured to cause blood flow to follow a spiral flow path.
Fiber membrane tube for mass transfer between fluids and method of and core winder for making same
The invention relates to a method for producing a device for a mass transfer between two fluids, wherein at least one hollow-fiber mat (9) is wound on an at least partly hollow core assembly (1, 1a, 1b, 2), and the formed coil is inserted into a housing (10). The assembly of the housing (10) and the coil is then sealed (10), in particular potted, with a sealant at the opposing axial ends in the regions between the hollow-fiber ends and the housing. The core assembly (1, 2) is made of at least two axially adjacent core parts (1, 1a, 1b, 2) arranged one behind the other, at least one (1, 1a, 1b) of which has a hollow design, and the core parts (1, 1a, 1b, 2) are kept in specified axial positions relative to each other, in particular at a distance to each other, by means of at least one aid element (7) at least over the period of the sealing process and preferably over the period of the winding process as well. After the sealing process and the removal of the at least one aid element (7), at least the axially end-face core parts (1, 1a, 2) are kept in their relative positions to each other by means of the sealant. The invention also relates to a coil, a core assembly, and a core system.
Filtration membrane module and filtration processing method
The purpose of this invention is to provide a filtration membrane module with which is possible to improve the centrifugal separation effect of the primary-side flowpath during filtration, and the centrifugal separation effect of the area following the outer peripheral surface of the flowpath membrane element of the outer ring-shaped flowpath during backwash, and improve filtration efficiency and cleaning efficiency while curbing the accumulation of deposits on the membrane surface during filtration and during backwash. This filtration membrane module comprises: a membrane element equipped with a primary-side flowpath on the outside of a hollow cylindrical filtration surface; and a cylindrical housing positioned on the outside thereof. A flow adjuster is positioned inside the primary-side flowpath. A flow adjuster for backwash is positioned inside the secondary-side flowpath, which is an outer ring-shaped flowpath between the membrane element and the housing. The flow adjuster and the flow adjuster for backwash comprise spiral-shaped fins or the like in order to exhibit a centrifugal separation function in an area that follows the outer peripheral surface of the membrane element or the filtration surface.
