A microorganism recovering method of recovering microorganisms from a liquid sample includes filtering out microorganisms from the liquid sample through a filtration apparatus, the filtration apparatus including a first end and a second end, the filtration apparatus being configured to receive the liquid sample at the first end and being configured to discharge from the second end filtrate generated through the filtering out microorganisms and recovering the microorganisms filtered out by the filtration apparatus together with a culture medium by feeding the culture medium from the second end to the first end.
FILTRATION ASSEMBLY AND METHOD FOR MICROBIOLOGICAL TESTING
The invention concerns a filtration assembly (1) for microbiological testing and a method of using the filtration assembly for that purpose. The filtration assembly (1) comprises a ring-like membrane support (10) holding a filtration membrane (11), a cylindrical reservoir (20) of which opposite axial ends have openings and one axial opening is removably and fluid-tightly attachable to the membrane support (10) to define a sample volume adjacent to the filtration membrane (11) on one axial side of the membrane support (10); and a drain member (30) removably and fluid tightly attachable to the membrane support (10) to define a drain channel space adjacent to the filtration membrane (11) on an opposite axial side of the membrane support (10).
FULL-EFFECTIVE REVERSE OSMOSIS MEMBRANE ELEMENT AND WATER PURIFICATION MACHINE
A full-effective reverse osmosis membrane element and a water purification machine are provided. The reverse osmosis membrane element includes a reverse osmosis membrane (20) and a central tube (10) provided with several water-inlet holes (11). The reverse osmosis membrane (20) is wound around the central tube (10) and covers each water-inlet hole (11) and forms a raw water flow channel. Two sides of the reverse osmosis membrane (20) are sealed by first and second water division bands (21) (22). The first water division band (21) and the central tube (10) form a first concentrated water-outlet (211). The first water division band (21) and the reverse osmosis membrane (20) form a second concentrated water-outlet (212). The second water division band (22) and the reverse osmosis membrane (20) form a first raw water-inlet (221). The second water division band (22) and the central tube (10) form a second raw water-inlet (222).
TANGENTIAL FLOW FILTRATION (TFF) SYSTEM AND DISPOSABLE TFF UNIT THAT INCLUDES AN INTEGRATED PUMP APPARATUS
A tangential flow filtration (TFF) system and disposable TFF unit that includes an integrated pump apparatus is disclosed. Namely, a TFF system is provided that includes a clamp assembly for integrating together a disposable TFF unit, two fluid reservoirs, and an air supply assembly. Further, the disposable TFF unit includes a diaphragm pump assembly and a concentration membrane. Further, methods of using the TFF system that includes the disposable TFF unit are provided.
SMALL VOLUME PROCESSING SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A fluid processing system includes a disposable fluid circuit and reusable hardware configured to accept the disposable fluid circuit. The disposable fluid circuit includes a spinning membrane separator, first and second syringes, and a flow control cassette. The reusable hardware includes a spinning membrane separator drive coupled to the spinning membrane separator, first and second syringe pumps coupled to the first and second syringes respectively, a control cassette interface coupled to the flow control cassette, and at least one controller coupled to the spinning membrane separator drive, the first and second syringe pumps, and the control cassette interface. The controller is configured to selectively operate the drive, the first and second syringe pumps, and the interface to provide a procedure according to a protocol.
Liquid-liquid mass transfer process and apparatus
A fiber bundle contactor may include a vessel including a first inlet; a second inlet; a mixing zone arranged in the vessel to receive a first fluid from the first inlet and a including fluid from the second inlet, wherein the mixing zone comprises a perforated plate assembly comprising a plate, a plurality of openings in the plate, and a plurality of riser pipes that extend from the plate and arranged to allow fluid flow through additional openings in the plate; and an extraction zone including a fiber bundle arranged in the vessel to receive the first fluid and the second fluid from the mixing zone.
Membrane Oxygenator with Gas Exchange Fiber Lumen Access Based on Fiber Effective Length
Membrane oxygenators useful in a variety of medical situations, including various short-term procedures and relatively longer-term life support, and components of membrane-based oxygenators, such as conditioning modules for exchanging oxygen for carbon dioxide during extracorporeal conditioning of blood, are described. A conditioning module includes a plurality of mats of hollow fibers and a potting material disposed throughout the peripheral edges of the mats to create a circumferential seal that defines a passageway through the plurality of fiber mats having a substantially circular cross-sectional shape. The circumferential seal defines an effective fiber length for each of the hollow fibers. A resisting member is disposed across the proximal ends of at least some of the hollow fibers and is adapted to resist fluid flow into each of the hollow fibers based on the effective fiber length of the particular hollow fiber.
