FILTRATION HEAD FOR A FILTER SYSTEM AND FUNNEL FOR USE IN CONJUNCTION WITH A FILTRATION HEAD
Filtration head (1) for a filter system, comprising base (2) including filter support (3) for removable filter element (4) and a fluid path from one side of filter element (4) on filter support (3), through filter element (4), and to drainage outlet (5) of base (2), and holder device (6) for removably attaching funnel (7) to base (2) to form a sample fluid reservoir on one side of filter element (4), wherein holder device (6) comprises ring-shaped element (8) configured to extend about bottom peripheral flange (7a) surrounding a lower end of funnel (7) and to selectively apply a biasing force on a radially outward protruding portion (7b) of bottom peripheral flange (7a) of funnel (7) to press funnel (7) against base (2). The filtration head allows the use of cardboard funnels without risk of liquid leakage between the funnel and the base.
Devices and methods for extracorporeal conditioning of blood
The disclosure relates to devices and methods for extracorporeal conditioning of blood. Extracorporeal blood oxygenators and blood oxygenator components, such as conditioning modules, are described. An extracorporeal blood oxygenator includes a conditioning module having an external frame, an inlet cover, an outlet cover, and an internal chamber. A fiber assembly is disposed within the internal chamber and a potting material on the fiber assembly creates a circumferential seal that defines a passageway through the fiber assembly having a substantially circular cross-sectional shape. A fluid inlet is in fluid communication with the passageway, has a lumen that extends along an axis that is substantially perpendicular to the fiber assembly, and has an internal curvilinear surface adjacent the fiber assembly. A fluid outlet on the opposite side of the fiber assembly also has a lumen that extends along an axis that is substantially perpendicular to the fiber assembly.
RESIN BARRIER DEVICE, GASKET AND METHOD FOR INFUSING A PREFORM
A resin barrier device for connection in a vacuum line, for use in resin infusion during composite manufacture, includes a housing having an inlet port for connection to a resin source and an outlet port for connection to a vacuum source. A flow path extends between the inlet and outlet ports. A gas-permeable membrane is disposed across the flow path to prevent resin from flowing to the vacuum pump. A gasket supports the membrane and is adapted to prevent resin leakage. A method of infusing a preform with a resin also is provided.
BENDABLE FLEXIBLE FLAT MEMBRANE MODULE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SAME
A bendable flexible flat membrane module includes: a membrane facing each other and constituting both outer surfaces; a support member made of a flexible material and embedded inside the membrane constituting the both outer surfaces; and a plurality of point bonding portions formed by pressing and bonding the both outer surfaces facing each other at a predetermined point.
Molecular weight filtration system and apparatus
A molecular filtration device and method of use capable of filtering and purifying molecules of a particular characteristic, wherein the amount of molecule to be filtered may be in the nanogram range and may be dispersed in a relatively large volume of solution. The resultant elution may include a substantially pure solution comprising the desired molecule.
FILTER CAPSULE AND METHOD OF USE
A module alignment element, and a filter capsule including the module alignment element, a method of filtering fluid using the filter capsule, and a system including the filter capsule, are disclosed.
MEMBRANE BUNDLE LAYOUT HAVING SPACERS
A hollow fiber membrane bundle with a longitudinal extent, with a membrane bundle cross section and with a first and a second bundle end, comprising a multitude of hollow fiber membranes extending between the first and the second bundle end, and also comprising, within the membrane bundle cross section, a proportion of threads which are arranged between the hollow fiber membranes and which keep the hollow fiber membranes apart. The arrangement of the threads between the hollow fiber membranes is such that at the first bundle end and/or at the second bundle end the hollow fiber membranes protrude beyond at least some of the threads, such that the hollow fiber membrane bundle has a smaller proportion of threads in a first and/or second end region, extending from the first and/or the second bundle end, than in a bundle region, located between the first and the second bundle end, which has a maximal proportion of threads, the length of the first end region and/or the length of the second end region being 1% to 45% of the bundle length.
A membrane module with a cylindrical housing with a longitudinal extent and with a first and a second housing end, and with a housing shell extending between the first and the second housing end, and also with a housing inner wall, where a hollow fiber membrane bundle of the above type is arranged in the housing oriented in the direction of the longitudinal extent of the housing.
WATER FILTRATION MODULE INCORPORATING HOLLOW-FIBER FILTRATION ELEMENTS
A water filtration module includes filtration elements, each formed from a bundle of hollow fibers. In each element, the end portions of the fibers are included in the coating blocks that do not close them, and a longitudinal hollow tube is arranged at the center of the bundle, so as to open on either side of the coating blocks. Each element includes a cap attached around the lower coating block providing a chamber in hydraulic communication with the hollow fibers and with the central tube. The set of elements are assembled removably in a housing of the module, such that an upper permeate collection chamber of the module is in hydraulic communication with the hollow fibers and the central tubes of each of the elements.
Disposable kits adapted for use in a dialysis machine
The specification discloses a portable dialysis machine having a detachable controller unit and base unit. The controller unit includes a door having an interior face, a housing with a panel, where the housing and panel define a recessed region configured to receive the interior face of the door, and a manifold receiver fixedly attached to the panel. The manifold includes diaphragms adapted to minimize the dead space between the dialysis machine pins and improve responsivity. The base unit has a planar surface for receiving a container of fluid, a scale integrated with the planar surface and a heater in thermal communication with the container. Embodiments of the disclosed portable dialysis system have improved structural and functional features, including improved modularity, ease of use, and safety features.
