Hydrogen generation assemblies, hydrogen purification devices, and their components are disclosed. In some embodiments, the devices may include a permeate frame with a membrane support structure having first and second membrane support plates that are free from perforations and that include a plurality of microgrooves configured to provide flow channels for at least part of the permeate stream. In some embodiments, the assemblies may include a return conduit fluidly connecting a buffer tank and a reformate conduit, a return valve assembly configured to manage flow in the return conduit, and a control assembly configured to operate a fuel processing assembly between run and standby modes based, at least in part, on detected pressure in the buffer tank and configured to direct the return valve assembly to allow product hydrogen stream to flow from the buffer tank to the reformate conduit when the fuel processing assembly is in the standby mode.

A spiral-wound acid gas separation membrane element (1) includes a wound body which includes a laminate and a perforated core (5), the laminate being wound around the perforated core tube (5) and including: a separation membrane (2), a feed-side channel component (3), and an element constituent layer (e.g., permeate-side channel component (4)). The separation membrane (2) is provided with a sealing section (25) present at both widthwise ends of the separation membrane (2). The sealing section (25) is sealed with an adhesive. This makes it possible not only to separate acid gas from mixed gas more efficiently as compared to a conventional spiral-wound acid gas separation membrane element but also to save energy.

A hollow fiber membrane cartridge according to an aspect of the present invention includes a plurality of hollow fiber membranes and a body portion in which the plurality of hollow fiber membranes are arranged, and above which and below which mesh portions are formed, respectively, wherein the mesh portion includes a plurality of joints and a window formed to be surrounded by the plurality of joints, and a radius of curvature of the joint is 1 to 7 times a diameter of the hollow fiber membrane.
