Diffusion and/or filtration device
The present disclosure relates to diffusion and/or filtration devices comprising hollow fiber membranes, e.g., ultrafilters for water purification, plasma filters, or capillary dialyzers for blood purification; housings and end caps for the devices; and methods for the production of the devices.
Fluid vessel with removable and reversible filtration unit
A fluid storage and dispensing assembly includes a fluid chamber having at least one side wall extending between an upper end and a closed lower end thereby defining a reservoir. A lid connectable proximate the chamber upper end has a first surface and an opposite second surface and defines a fluid inlet connecting the first and second surfaces. The fluid inlet defines an axis and includes a first fluid sealing member. A fluid filtration unit having a first end configured for removable fluid tight attachment to the lid at the second surface and a second end is provided with a filtration channel defined therebetween. The second end defines a filter outlet, and a unit of filter media is positioned between the first and second ends. The filtration outlet is in fluid communication with the fluid inlet when the first end is attached to the lid unit, wherein the first sealing member is configured for releasable attachment in a fluid tight seal with a head of a pressurized fluid source when engaged such that the pressure from the fluid source forces fluid from the source through the filter media and from the filtration outlet into the reservoir.
Film separation device, structure for arranging film element, and film cassette and film unit
There is provided a film separation device 1 equipped with a treatment tank 2 receiving a liquid to be treated, a film unit 3 to be immersed in the liquid to be treated, and a guide mechanism 4. The guide mechanism 4 is composed of holding sections 14 and a guide section 15. The holding sections 14 are provided on a side section of a film cassette 5 constituting the film unit 3, and the guide section 15 is fixed to the treatment tank 2. The guide section 15 has a tank-wall fixed section 15a, an upper extension section 15b, a held section 15c, a lower extension section 15d, and a tank-bottom fixed section 15e. When fixing the film unit 3 to the treatment tank 2, the holding sections 14 are fitted to the held section 15c, thereby guiding the film unit 3 to a predetermined position in the treatment tank 2.
Filter device
A filter device may include a filter housing and a filter element defining a longitudinal axis disposed in the filter housing. The filter element may be configured to be penetrated by a fluid flow in a radial direction from a raw end to a pure end of the filter element. A water separator may be disposed at the pure end of the filter element and arranged axially spaced from the same. The water separator may have a hydrophobic and annular diaphragm extending in an axial direction of the filter element configured to be penetrated by the fluid flow from a raw end of the water separator in a radially outward to a radially inward direction with respect to the longitudinal axis to separate water from the fluid flow.
Membranes
A composite gas membrane comprising: a) a porous support; b) an activated gutter layer; c) a discriminating layer located on the gutter layer; and d) optionally a protective layer on the discriminating layer; wherein the said layers remain in place when a peeling force of 2.5 N/1.5 cm is applied to the outermost of said layers.
MODULAR FILTRATION PLATFORM
A modular filtration platform having at least one manifold head and at least one respective filter cartridge assembly. Each manifold head is connected to one another to establish a water flow in a series or parallel manner. Each filter cartridge assembly is releasably secured from rotation relative to the manifold head by a locking mechanism. An aperture on the filter cartridge assembly annular collar mates with a protruding resilient extension on either the manifold head or support bracket. Alternatively, an aperture on the filter cartridge assembly annular collar and an aperture on the manifold head annular collar mate with a protruding member from a locking ring extending through both apertures. An integrated sensor package may be integrated with the system for true managed water visible/audible indications and Wi-Fi interface to facilitate virtually instantaneous response times for filtration needs.
WATER CONDITIONING SYSTEMS HAVING DIVERSION DEVICES
A portable water conditioning system is provided that includes an incoming water inlet; a reverse osmosis stage in fluid communication with the incoming water inlet, the reverse osmosis stage having a permeate outlet and a concentrate outlet; a diversion device having a diversion valve, the diversion valve placing the concentrate outlet in fluid communication with a waste water outlet; a deionizing stage in fluid communication with a pure water outlet; a bypass valve configured to selectively place the permeate outlet in fluid communication with one or more of the waste water outlet, the deionizing stage, and the pure water outlet; and a controller configured to control the diversion device and the bypass valve to provide water at the pure water outlet of a desired condition.
MULTIPLE MEMBRANE SEPARATION CAPSULE
A membrane capsule for biological and chemical separations comprising a cassette comprising an upper surface and a lower surface adjoined by a cassette sidewall, an inlet and an outlet located on the upper and lower surfaces of the cassette, tubes fluidly connected to the inlet and the outlet, holes or slots in the tubes to facilitate separation, and a membrane wrapped, pleated, and/or spiral wound around each of the tubes. Methods of separation comprising flowing fluid flow through the inlet of the membrane capsule, allowing the fluid to permeate through the holes or slots of the tubes, separating biological and/or non-biological substances, collecting the fluid within a reservoir, and draining fluid from the reservoir.
DIALYSIS MACHINE
A disposable cartridge for use in a hemodialysis machine has a blood flow path for carrying a volume of blood to be treated in a dialyser and a dialysate flow path, isolated from the blood flow path, for delivering a flow of dialysate solution through the dialyser. The cartridge is received in an engine section of the machine. The engine section has first and second platens which close when the cartridge is inserted to retain the cartridge. Actuators and sensors arranged on the second platen control operation of the cartridge.
IMPROVED GAS EXCHANGE SYSTEM AND METHOD
A gas exchange system, said system comprising: a plurality of cartridges, each having a casing, said casing having a cartridge inlet adjacent to a first end and a cartridge outlet adjacent to an opposed second end; each casing having a bore in which is placed a gas permeable, liquid impermeable, hollow membrane; each hollow membrane having a membrane inlet arranged to receive a gas from an inlet chamber and a membrane outlet for venting said gas; each cartridge inlet in communication with a concentration zone, and arranged to receive a solvent from said concentration zone, so as to exit said solvent through said cartridge outlet; wherein said bore is arranged to flow said solvent adjacent to said hollow membrane so as to permit the exchange of gas through said gas permeable, liquid impermeable membrane.
