OFF-GRID TURBINE-DRIVEN CENTRIFUGAL REVERSE OSMOSIS SYSTEM, AND APPLICATIONS THEREOF
Integrated tidal desalination system that harnesses tidal power to produce drinkable water through a mechanically linked or direct drive integrated tidal turbine (ITT) and centrifugal reverse osmosis (CRO) system. The ITT-CRO system eliminates conversion losses in the power take-off unit by eliminating the need for electrical energy conversion. The ITT-CRO system is modelled, and the model used for control, and predictive maintenance.
Filter and method for the desalination of water by means of reverse osmosis of the centrifugal type, involving the generation of dean vortices
This invention concerns a method for desalination of sea water and a design and construction of a centrifugal filter for desalination of water. The process uses the filter developed based on reverse osmosis technology as a fundamental component that uses hollow fiber membrane modules arranged in a spiral manner around a central support pipe and distributed in concentric rings around the periphery of the rotating section to favor the formation of Dean vortices. Wherein the membrane is built with a structure of an aromatic polyamide as the first layer, followed by a layer of polyestersulfone and a support layer of polyester; applying the material Kevlar 49 in position 1 and 4 on the aromatic chain structure to increase the structure and resistance of the membrane.
Method and device for centrifugation and filtration
The invention provides a filtering and centrifugation device, comprising a barrel, a volume in the barrel for receiving a fluid sample to be processed, a filter medium, at least one piston movable in the barrel to force fluid in the volume through the filter medium to produce a filtrate, and a space for pelleting particulate material. The device is centrifugeable, and said space is located in or communicates with the volume and is located preferably away from the filter medium such that the particulate material does not or at least not completely clog the filter medium during such centrifugation of the device. The invention also provides a method for the sterile filtration of a sample, comprising the steps of introducing the sample into the volume of such a device, subjecting the device to centrifugation to pellet particulate material contained in the sample at the space away from the filter medium, and applying force to the piston(s) to force fluid of the sample in the volume through the filter medium to produce a filtrate. By providing the space for pelleting the particulate material under the influence of the centrifugation force, the clogging of the filter medium can be avoided or considerably delayed. Further, the entire process can be performed in the same device without having to remove the sample for any intermediate clarification steps.
Divalent Ion Removal From Monoethylene Glycol (MEG) Feed Streams
A system and process for removing divalent ions from a MEG feed stream is presented. The system includes a chemical treatment tank where chemicals are mixed with the feed stream to form insoluble carbonate and hydroxide salts. The system also includes a solid-liquid separation unit that receives the feed stream from the chemical treatment tank and separates it into a liquids portion containing MEG and a insoluble salts portion. The system may also include washing the insoluble salts portion to remove additional MEG, which is then recycled to a MEG regeneration or reclamation process. The system may also include a dryer that receives waste slurry from the solid-liquid separation unit and dries it to form a solid waste, thereby facilitating its handling, storage, and disposal.
FILTER SCREEN
A filter screen for cross-flow filtration includes a cross-sectional thickness measured from an outer surface to an inner surface, the outer surface configured to exclude particles; and a plurality of slots that are evenly spaced apart. Each of the slots have a length along a longest axis at the outer surface; a width measured from a perpendicular axis relative to the length at the outer surface that is less than the length; and a depth along the cross-sectional thickness that is tapered.
Rotary filter apparatus for roll-to-roll nanomaterial dispersion papermaking
An apparatus for roll-to-roll nanomaterial dispersion papermaking includes a suction pressure for consolidating nanomaterials on a fluid permeable filter in one region of the filter and an opposite pressure region or regions for separating a mat of the consolidated nanomaterials and transferring the mat to a transfer roller. A transfer roller may have a suction pressure within the transfer roller to help transfer the mat from the filter to the transfer roller, for example. An inlet port distributes nanomaterials using row and zone inlets, for example.
METHOD FOR DYNAMIC FILTRATION OF A CROSS-LINKED HYDROGEL
The present invention relates to a method for dynamic filtration of a cross-linked biopolymer-based hydrogel to remove unwanted molecules from the gel. In particular, the invention relates to dynamic filtration of a hyaluronic acid hydrogel using a dynamic filtration construction with rotating and semipermeable filter discs.
