In Vitro Diagnostic Device with Integrated Plasma Separator
A lab-on-a-chip cartridge includes a housing defining four separate chambers. A fluid (such as whole blood) flows through one of the chambers and into another one of the chambers, which includes a filter membrane. The filter membrane is rotated to separate a first fluid component (such as plasma) from a second fluid component (such as red blood cells), with the first fluid component passing through the filter membrane and the second fluid component not passing through the filter membrane. The separated first and second fluid components each flow into a different one of the remaining chambers, with the first fluid component contacting a lab-on-a-chip device for analyzing the first fluid component.
BRANCHED FILTER AND METHOD OF USE
Filter arrangements comprising a plurality of radially arranged filters, each filter comprising a plurality of arms, each arm comprising a hollow tube having porous side wall, each hollow tube having an open first end and an open second end, and a tube inner fluid channel having an inner diameter; the filter further including a first tube connector, comprising a first hollow body having porous side walls and a first hollow body inner diameter, connected to, and in fluid communication with, the hollow tubes, and a second tube connector, comprising a second hollow body having a second hollow body inner diameter, connected to, and in fluid communication with, the first hollow body, and filter devices including filter arrangements, and methods of use are disclosed.
REMEDIATION METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR DEEP-SEA MINE TAILINGS
A system for remedying deep-sea mine tailings includes a reaction basin in which the solid-liquid ratio of deep-sea mine tailings is adjusted and into which aluminum sulfate is injected as an additive for extraction of heavy metals from the deep-sea mine tailings.
Spin columns comprising poly(acid) membrane separation matrices, and methods of making and using the same
Spin columns that include a poly(acid) membrane separation matrix are provided. Also provided are kits that include the subject devices, as well as methods of using the devices, e.g., in sample preparation (such as protein purification) protocols.
METHOD FOR DYNAMIC FILTRATION OF A CROSS-LINKED HYDROGEL
The present invention relates to a method for dynamic filtration of a cross-linked biopolymer-based hydrogel to remove unwanted molecules from the gel. In particular, the invention relates to dynamic filtration of a hyaluronic acid hydrogel using a dynamic filtration construction with rotating and semipermeable filter discs.
FILTER SCREEN
Provided is a filter screen having a plurality of slots, each slot having a longest principal axis A1 that has a length L, and each slot having a second axis A2 that is perpendicular to A1 and that has a length W, wherein the distance between adjacent slots in the direction of the axes A2 is XP; wherein XP is greater than W; wherein the distance between adjacent slots in the direction of the axes A1 is YP; either wherein L is 800 micrometers or less and XP is 350 micrometers or less, or wherein L is 1600 μm or less and XP is 180 μm or less.
Also provided is a method of filtering feed water using such a filter screen.
Process and apparatus for separating valuable or harmful liquids from slurries
This invention relates generally to a filtration process and apparatus for separating valuable or harmful process liquids from mixtures or slurries that contain such liquids and solid particles. In particular, the invention relates to a filtration process for separating Process Liquid from a feed slurry that comprises a mixture of the Process Liquid and solid particles, the process employing a Sweep Liquid that is less dense than the Process Liquid.
Spinning crossflow filter
A rotatable filtration apparatus includes a partially submergible, rotatable filter in a shape of a torus having a central axis of rotation, the filter comprising an upper half and a lower half, with the lower half comprising a permeable membrane, the permeable membrane comprising at least one pore configured to pass a filtrate while excluding solids, a rotation motor configured to rotate the filter about the central axis of rotation, an anchor configured to anchor the rotatable filter in a body of liquid, and a pump to extract the filtrate from the filtrate chamber into a filtrate line.
Rotary filter arrangement having a plurality of hollow shafts
A filtration arrangement for a filtration device having a container. The filtration arrangement includes at least two or more hollow shafts, rotatably mounted in a machine frame, on which a plurality of membrane filter disks are arranged. At least one drive device is allocated to the plurality of hollow shafts. Permeate can be discharged from the container through the hollow shafts. Each hollow shaft can be inserted into the container on one of the ends thereof having the plurality of membrane filter disks, such that the opposite end thereof protrudes out of the container. Several or many of the membrane filter disks are arranged axially spaced apart on each hollow shaft, and deformable spacer sleeves are arranged between one part or all adjacent membrane filter disks and axially space apart the membrane filter disks on the hollow shafts.
ROTARY FILTER SYSTEM, A ROTARY FILTER DEVICE AND A SEPARATION SYSTEM
A rotary filter system includes a drive device and a rotary filter device including a filter housing and a filter unit, the filter housing having an inlet and first and second outlets. The filter unit is in the filter housing and completely enclosed by the filter housing. The filter unit has a filter element delimiting a fluid space from a filtrate space, filtrate is discharged from the filtrate space through the first outlet. The filter unit includes a magnetically effective core in a disk-shaped or ring-shaped manner. The drive device has a drive housing in which a stator is disposed to drive the rotation of the filter unit. The stator is a bearing and drive stator which interacts with the magnetically effective core as an electromagnetic rotary drive, so that the filter unit is capable of being magnetically driven without contact and magnetically levitated with respect to the stator.
