Systems, Methods, and Devices for Removing Circulating Tumor Cells from Blood
A crossflow filter includes a rigid cylindrical inner wall and a rigid cylindrical outer wall inner with an inelastic filter membrane positioned therebetween defining a retentate channel inside the filter membrane and a permeate channel outside the filter membrane. Further, the filter includes transition channels shaped and connected to the inner and outer walls to deliver a flow of fluid from an inlet port to the retentate channel and to capture flow flowing longitudinally along the cylindrical inner and outer walls from both the retentate and permeate channels to respective outlet ports.
Membrane separating method and membrane module for processing liquids
A membrane module and a membrane separating method for processing liquids, that includes: the liquid stream of a liquid to be processed is supplied, via an inlet, to a separating membrane designed as a flat membrane, such that a purified permeate passes the separating membrane; and the separating membrane is irradiated by UV light at least on the side of the separating membrane facing the inlet, the irradiation by UV light occurring by means of a mat and/or a fabric and/or a grating and/or a net, which consists, in full or in part, of optical waveguide fibers which out-couple light laterally, forming an irradiation element.
Separating Device for Separating at Least One Undesired Fluid from a Liquid, Membrane of a Separating Device, Filter, Filter Element, and Liquid System
A separating device for separating an undesired fluid from a multi-component liquid has a region flowed through by the multi-component liquid and at least one membrane disposed in the region to separate a first fluid region from a second fluid region. The membrane has a first permeability to the undesired fluid and a second permeability to the multi-component liquid. The first permeability is different from the second permeability. The membrane is equally permeable to all components of the multi-component liquid. The membrane is permeable to the multi-component liquid and impermeable to the undesired fluid, or the membrane is impermeable to the multi-component liquid and is permeable to the undesired fluid, wherein the multi-component liquid is a liquid multi-component operating medium. A filter with such a separating device and a filter element, in particular for diesel fuel, as well as a liquid system with such a separating device are described.
METHODS OF PURIFYING AN ENVELOPED VIRUS
The present disclosure relates generally to the manufacturing of gene therapy products, and specifically to methods of purifying an enveloped virus from a cell culture fluid, comprising an endonuclease and/or anion exchange chromatography.
TANGENTIAL FLOW FILTER SYSTEM FOR THE FILTRATION OF MATERIALS FROM BIOLOGIC FLUIDS
Systems and methods for filtering materials from biologic fluids are discussed. Embodiments may be used to filter cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from a human or animal subject. In an example, CSF is separated into a permeate and retentate using a tangential flow filter. The retentate is filtered again and then returned to the subject with the permeate. During operation of the system, various parameters may be modified, such as flow rate and waste rate.
MEMBRANE DISTILLATION SYSTEM WITH GAS BUBBLE SOURCE AND METHOD OF USE
A membrane distillation system includes a hollow fiber aerator configured to provide gas bubbles to a relatively cool permeate stream so that the relatively cool permeate stream contains gas bubbles when it contacts a porous and hydrophobic membrane in a direct contact membrane distillation process. The system can further include an additional hollow fiber aerator configured to provide gas bubbles to a relatively hot feed stream so that the relatively hot feed stream contains gas bubbles when it contacts a porous and hydrophobic membrane in a direct contact membrane distillation process.
Single pass tangential flow filtration systems and tangential flow filtration systems with recirculation of retentate
A method of filtering a liquid feed is described, comprising passing a liquid feed through a single pass tangential flow filtration (SPTFF) system and recovering the retentate and permeate from the system in separate containers. A method of filtering a liquid feed is also described comprising passing a liquid feed through a tangential flow filtration (TFF) system, recovering permeate and a portion of the retentate from the system in separate containers without recirculation through the TFF system, and recirculating the remainder of the retentate through the TFF system at least once. The methods of the invention can be performed using an SPTFF or a TFF system that comprises manifold segments to serialize the flow path of the feed and retentate without requiring diverter plates.
Filter for mammalian cell culture perfusion and clarification with hydrophobic hollow fiber
This disclosure relates to the use of a hydrophobic hollow fiber filter for the filtration of cell cultures and other biological perfusions, due to its resistance to fouling, as well as the ability to filter solutions with a high solid content. A hydrophobic hollow fiber filter may be used within a filter housing in conjunction with a process vessel and a traditional separation system. When the system is used with alternating tangential flow or tangential flow filtration, the hydrophobic hollow fiber filter results in more effective filtration of the filtrate, leading to greater concentration of the retentate, even in solution containing high levels of solids.
