GASLESS EXTRA-CORPOREAL CARBON DIOXIDE REMOVAL

A carbon dioxide absorption medium. The absorption medium includes a plurality of hollow fibers and a plurality of binder particles. The hollow fibers have walls comprising a selectively permeable membrane that is configured to permit passage of gaseous carbon dioxide but not liquids. The plurality bind particles are dispersed between the hollow fibers and comprise an absorbent material configured to absorb gaseous carbon dioxide and to bind the carbon dioxide in a solid state.

HIGH RECOVERY INTEGRATED UF/RO SYSTEM

This specification describes membrane based filtration and softening systems and methods. A system has a microfiltration or ultrafiltration (MF/UF) membrane unit upstream of a nanofiltration or reverse osmosis (NF/RO) membrane unit, optionally with no intermediate tank. In some cases, the system and method may be used with feed water provided at municipal line pressure to the membranes. NF/RO permeate is collected in a tank and then pumped to a header. Treated water may be drawn from the header for use or recycled to the system, for example to backwash or flush one or both of the membrane units. In a combined process, NF/RO permeate flushes the feed side of the NF/RO unit and then backwashes the MF/UF unit. In another process, the MF/UF unit and NF/RO unit are filled with NF/RO permeate before being placed in a standby mode.

MANIFOLD ARRANGEMENT

Provided is an improved filtration module assembly comprising a vessel having a filtration cartridge disposed within it and a header coupled to an end of the vessel, the header including a housing having an open-ended upper end and a lower end, and an end cap including a portion that mates with a complimentary structure defined by the inner all of the open ended upper end of the housing to removable engage with the housing and the end cap may further define a passageway for fluid to flow out of the vessel. The filtration module assembly may enable an improved manifold arrangement used to communicate fluids to and from a filtration system comprising a plurality of such modules and the configurations of the present invention may facilitate improved operation of such filtration systems.

Micro flow filtration system and flow filtration method

A micro flow filtration system comprises a fluid circuitry (3) and a first reservoir (1) outside the circuitry (3) suitable for containing a fluid. The fluid circuitry (3) comprises a tangential flow filtration module (10) capable of separating the fluid sample into a retentate stream and a permeate stream upon passage of the fluid sample into the tangential flow filtration module (10) through an inlet feed (18). The fluid circuitry (3) further comprises a second reservoir (2) integrated in the fluid circuitry (3), a pump (5) for creating and driving a fluid flow, optionally at least one pressure sensor (6, 7 or 8) for acquiring and detecting data about the fluid sample, optionally a pressure regulator (9) for regulating the flow in the fluid circuitry (3) and a plurality of conduits (22) forming the fluid circuitry (3) together with the second reservoir (2), the TFF-module (10), the pump (5), the pressure sensor (6, 7 or 8) (if present) and the pressure regulator (9) (if present). The volume of the first reservoir (1) outside the circuitry (3) is significantly larger than the volume of the second reservoir (2). The first reservoir (1) outside the fluid circuitry (3) is connected to the circuitry (3) via a connection conduit (31) such that the fluid flows unidirectionally into the circuitry (3) until the first reservoir (1) is empty so that a continuous fluid flow from the first reservoir (1) to the circuitry (3) is established.

METHOD FOR PURIFYING A LIQUID

The invention relates to the purification and/or desalination of a liquid. The present method includes purifying a liquid and flushing a liquid purification means. Raw liquid is fed, via a means for increasing pressure, along a raw liquid and drain liquid mixing line to a liquid purification means. Drain liquid is fed along a recirculation line in order to be mixed with raw liquid. After a set period of time, the liquid purification process is interrupted in order for the liquid purification means to be flushed by a liquid medium for the removal of contaminants which have built up on the inside surface of the liquid purification means. Downstream of the liquid purification means, the liquid medium is discharged at high speed into a drain. Prior to flushing of the liquid purification means, the purification process is interrupted at least once for a short period of time sufficient to enable disruption of a polarized layer of contaminants. A mixture of raw liquid and drain liquid is used as the liquid medium for flushing. Technical result: a reduction in the amount of raw liquid used for flushing and an increase in the service life of the water purification means.
