A hollow fiber membrane module having: a tubular case; a plurality of hollow fiber membranes disposed within the case; sealing and fixing parts that fix the hollow fiber membranes to each other at the ends of the plurality of hollow fiber membranes; and sealing parts that seal annular gaps between the case and the sealing and fixing parts. The sealing parts are bonded to the inner peripheral surface of the case and the outer peripheral surface of the sealing and fixing parts while being allowed to expand or contract in the direction in which the spacing of the gaps between the case and the sealing and fixing parts changes.

Methods for water extraction

The present application provides a method for extracting an extractable component from a feed liquid using a porous membrane. One embodiment of the method includes temperature-swing solvent extraction of water from saline water using a porous membrane.

The present technology provides microfabricated filtration devices, methods of making such devices, and uses for microfabricated filtration devices. The devices may allow diffusion to occur between two fluids with improved transport resistance characteristics as compared to conventional filtration devices. The devices may include a compound structure that includes a porous membrane overlying a support structure. The support structure may define a cavity and a plurality of recesses formed in a way that can allow modified convective flow of a first fluid to provide improved diffusive transport between the first fluid and a second fluid through the membrane.

A sweep gas flow is generated on the gas side of the separation membrane. Water in the urine is conducted from the liquid side to the gas flow side of the separation membrane, the separation membrane substantially preventing the passage of other components of urine from the liquid side to the gas flow side of the separation membrane. The water conducted to the gas flow side of the separation membrane is entrained in the sweep gas flow.
