Disposable device for filtering a large medium volume
A single-use device for filtration of a large volume of medium including a plurality of single-use filter units, at least some of which, preferably all of which, are connected to each other by rigid pipes. The filter units include at least one prefilter and at least one main filter for virus filtration which is configured as a hollow fiber capsule.
TANGENTIAL FLOW FILTER SYSTEM FOR THE FILTRATION OF MATERIALS FROM BIOLOGIC FLUIDS
Systems and methods for filtering materials from biologic fluids are discussed. Embodiments may be used to filter cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from a human or animal subject. In an example, CSF is separated into a permeate and retentate using a tangential flow filter. The retentate is filtered again and then returned to the subject with the permeate. During operation of the system, various parameters may be modified, such as flow rate and waste rate.
BIOGAS UPGRADING APPARATUS AND PROCESS
A biogas upgrading system can include a multiple stage membrane system that is configured to remove oxygen so that the biogas is upgraded to have a higher concentration of methane, a pre-selected oxygen (O.sub.2) concentration (e.g. less than or equal to 0.2 mol %, etc.), and a pre-selected carbon dioxide (CO.sub.2) concentration (e.g. less than or equal to 5 mol %, etc.). The membrane system can be configured to reject O.sub.2 by utilizing a low CO.sub.2/O.sub.2 selectivity that is within a pre-determined range (e.g. less than 5 or less than 4.5). In some embodiments, the upgraded biogas that is output from the system can be entirely made up of methane, carbon dioxide, and oxygen. In other embodiments, the biogas can be almost entirely composed of these components along with a small amount of nitrogen and a trace amount (e.g. less than or equal to 0.2%-0.1%, etc.) of other components.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING DIALYSATE
The present invention relates to a device and to a method for producing dialysate, wherein the device comprises a first part and a second part designed as a circuit, wherein the first part comprises a water connection or a water container and the primary side of a filter, wherein the filter is designed to produce purified water from the water by forward osmosis, and wherein the second part comprises the secondary side of the filter, a reservoir, a filtrate line which leads from the secondary side of the filter to the reservoir, and a return line leading from the reservoir to the secondary side of the filter, wherein an electrodialysis unit comprising a diluate chamber and a concentrate chamber is further provided, wherein the concentrate chamber is fluidically connected to the secondary side of the filter.
SEAWATER TREATMENT TO OBTAIN HIGH SALINITY WATER WITH LOW HARDNESS FOR ENHANCED OIL RECOVERY
A high salinity feed water such as seawater is treated to produce a reverse osmosis (RO) concentrate and an RO permeate. Optionally, some or all of the RO concentrate may be filtered to produce a nanofiltration (NF) permeate. Optionally, some feed water can also be filtered to produce NF permeate without first being concentrated by RO treatment. The NF permeate, or a blend of the RO permeate and NF permeate, may be used to produce a product water for injection into an oil-bearing reservoir to enhance oil recovery. Optionally, the product water may have salinity greater than the feedwater, or at least 30 g/L. The product water may have hardness of less than 20 mg/L.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR PREPARING DIALYZATE
The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for preparing dialyzate, wherein the apparatus has a first part and a second part that is configured as a circuit; wherein the first part comprises a water connection or a water container as well as the primary side of a filter; wherein the filter is configured to prepare purified water from the water through forward osmosis; and wherein the second part comprises the secondary side of the filter, a reservoir, a filtrate line that leads from the secondary side of the filter to the reservoir, and a line leading from the reservoir to the secondary side of the filter, with the reservoir being a container having means for connecting the container to a dialysis machine.
COMPOSITE SEMIPERMEABLE MEMBRANE, SPIRAL MEMBRANE ELEMENT, WATER TREATMENT SYSTEM, AND WATER TREATMENT METHOD
A composite semipermeable membrane 12 of the present invention includes a porous support membrane 12a and a skin layer 12b supported by the porous support membrane 12a. The membrane surface of the composite semipermeable membrane 12 has an elastic modulus of 250 MPa or more and 500 MPa or less as calculated by force curve measurement using AFM in water. A spiral membrane element 20 of the present invention includes the composite semipermeable membrane 12 of the present invention. A water treatment system 100 of the present invention includes the spiral membrane element 20 of the present invention.
PROCESSING SEAWATER SUBSEA
There is described the processing seawater in a subsea facility on the seabed in various methods and apparatus. In various examples, the facility is coupled to at least one well, is configured to provide the well with water to be injected into at least one formation of the well, and comprises filter elements arranged in housings, the filter elements being configured for ultrafiltration or microfiltration. In such examples, treated seawater in at least one of the housings is filtered using at least one filter element, producing thereby filtered water, and at least one filter element in at least one other of the filter housings is cleaned by backwashing performed using at least some of the produced filtered water.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR WATER TREATMENT
Water treatment systems including electrically-driven and pressure-driven separation apparatus configured to produce a first treated water suitable for use as irrigation water and a second treated water suitable for use as potable water from brackish or saline water and methods of operation of same.
