System and method for a hash table and data storage and access using the same
The present teaching relates to method, system, medium, and implementations for storage management. A hash table is constructed, having an index file having one or more slots, each of which includes one or more buckets. Each bucket stores one or more types of records, including a direct record, an indirect record, and a forwarding record. A direct record stores data directly in a bucket of a slot of the index file. When a storage request is received related to some relevant data, the request is handled based on the constructed hash table.
Filter for removing silica from ultra pure water and method of use
A method for removing silica from ultra pure water (UPW) comprises passing UPW through a filter comprising a microporous cationically charged membrane having an upstream surface and a downstream surface; and a porous asymmetric membrane having a first surface and an upstream portion and a downstream portion and a second surface, and a bulk between the first surface and the second surface including the upstream portion and the downstream portion, the porous asymmetric membrane having decreasing pore sizes in a direction from the first surface and the upstream portion to the downstream portion and the second surface, the second surface comprising a skin having a nanoporous average pore size, wherein the first surface of the porous asymmetric membrane contacts the downstream surface of the microporous cationically charged membrane; the method including passing the UPW through the microporous cationically charged membrane before passing the UPW through the porous asymmetric membrane.
Advanced filtration membranes using chitosan and graphene oxide
A composition of five parts by mass of chitosan and one part graphene oxide is suspended in water. The composition may be used to form filtration layers of any size or shape and may be reinforced by additional layers. The composition may be used to construct a large filtration apparatus of any size or shape and may be used to form highly resilient, antimicrobial structures and surfaces for a variety of applications.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR EXTRACTING A PROTEIN FOOD PRODUCT
Disclosed herein are systems and methods of extracting a high protein food product from legumes comprising: milling a supply of legumes to form a fine powder; hydrating the fine powder to form a liquid slurry; separating solids from the liquid slurry to form a milk-like fluid; pasteurising said milk-like fluid to remove unwanted organisms therefrom; filtrating said pasteurised milk-like fluid to remove permeates therefrom to form a substantially liquid product; and removing most of the moisture from the substantially liquid product to generate a high protein food product in the form of a powder.
CELL CULTURE BIOREACTOR
A cell culture bioreactor has perfusion membranes and gas transfer membranes or a gas phase in an extra-membrane space in contact with a film on the perfusion membranes. Gas transfer membranes may travel through the perfusion membranes or through the extra-membrane space. Examples with hollow fiber and flat sheet membranes are shown. One or more of the membranes optionally has a responsive surface, for example a thermo-responsive surface. In some examples, membranes are located in X-Y planes while the length of the reactor extends in a Z-direction.
HOLLOW FIBER MEMBRANE ELEMENT, HOLLOW FIBER MEMBRANE MODULE, AND METHOD OF FORWARD OSMOSIS WATER TREATMENT
A hollow fiber membrane element, comprising: a core tube comprising a side face having a plurality of pores; and a hollow fiber membrane group consisting of a plurality of hollow fiber membranes disposed around the core tube, the hollow fiber membrane element being a both open-ended type hollow fiber membrane element in which both ends of the core tube and the plurality of hollow fiber membranes are open. The hollow fiber membrane group includes a first hollow fiber membrane layer composed of a plurality of first hollow fiber membranes disposed so as to surround the core tube and a second hollow fiber membrane layer composed of a plurality of second hollow fiber membranes disposed so as to surround the first hollow fiber membrane layer, and a permeability coefficient of the plurality of first hollow fiber membranes is smaller than a permeability coefficient of the plurality of second hollow fiber membranes.
Membrane separation system and operation method for membrane separation system
The present invention relates to a membrane separation system including a plurality of separation membrane elements connected to one another, each of the separation membrane elements including a plurality of separation membrane pairs, each separation membrane pair including separation membranes each having a feed-side surface and a permeate-side surface and disposed such that the feed-side surfaces face each other, in which the plurality of separation membrane elements include a first separation membrane element and a second separation membrane element, and at least one first separation membrane element serves as a stage preceding the second separation membrane element.
Catalytic Carbon Fiber Contactor
A fiber bundle contactor may include: a flow path defined by a conduit; a catalytic carbon fiber bundle disposed in the conduit; and an inlet allowing fluid flow into the flow path. A method may include: introducing into vessel a hydrocarbon comprising mercaptan sulfur, an aqueous caustic solution, and an oxidizer; reacting at least a portion of the mercaptan sulfur and the aqueous caustic solution to produce a mercaptide; and reacting the mercaptide and the oxidizer in the presence of a catalytic carbon fiber bundle to produce a disulfide oil.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR WATER BLENDING CONTROL
A reverse osmosis water system including a housing, a reverse osmosis cartridge, an unfiltered waterline, and a blend waterline. The housing includes an inlet and an outlet. A medial waterline transports pretreated water to the reverse osmosis cartridge. An unfiltered waterline includes a flow restrictor. A blend waterline transports a blended water mixture to the outlet. The blended waterline receives filtered water at a first flowrate from the medial waterline and unfiltered water at a second flowrate downstream of the flow restrictor. The flow restrictor provides the second flowrate at a substantially equal rate to the first flowrate.
