Compositions and methods of cleaning polyvinyl pyrrolidone-based hemodialysis filtration membrane assemblies
A method and a composition of cleaning and reprocessing a hemodialysis filtration membrane assembly that employs polyvinylpyrrolidone-containing membranes, the method comprising the step of treating the assembly with an aqueous mixture or a gas-liquid mixture comprising an inorganic base and from 100 to 1,000 ppm of a hypochlorite salt, wherein the mixture has a pH between about 12.0 and about 12.5, an oxidation reduction potential of less than 0.5 volts, a temperature of 40 to 55 C. and wherein the mole % of hypochlorous acid, HOCl, relative to the sum of hypochlorous acid plus hypochlorite anion, OCl, is less than 0.004%.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR EXCHANGE OF BUFFER SOLUTIONS
Systems and methods for exchanging buffer solutions are disclosed. In accordance with some embodiments, the methods and systems for buffer exchange may be automated and/or the methods and systems may include mixing during filtering operations.
INTERMITTENT-BUBBLING EQUIPMENT
The present invention provides intermittent-bubbling equipment used while being immersed in a liquid. The intermittent-bubbling equipment includes a tubular casing vertically disposed; and a plurality of partition walls disposed substantially parallel to an axial direction in the casing, and configured to define a gas introducing chamber, a gas inducing chamber, and a gas discharging chamber. The gas introducing chamber and the gas inducing chamber communicate with each other at a top of the casing, and the gas inducing chamber and the gas discharging chamber communicate with each other at a bottom of the casing. An upper side of the gas introducing chamber and an upper side of the gas inducing chamber are closed by a lid plate, and a lower side of the gas inducing chamber and a lower side of the gas discharging chamber are closed by a bottom plate. A cross-sectional area of the gag introducing chamber may be greater than a cross-sectional area of the gas discharging chamber. An upper edge of a connecting hole between the gas inducing chamber and the gas discharging chamber may be substantially horizontal. A bottom plate that closes the gas inducing chamber and a bottom plate that closes the gas discharging chamber may be formed by a single flat member.
Filter membrane with bi-directional flow enhancing features
A novel filter media includes an array of raised features formed directly on the membrane surface, which create a feed channel. The predetermined configuration of features is dually optimized both for filtration in a first flow direction to maximize unobstructed fluid flow and prevent fouling. The same feature configuration is also optimized for enhancing/increasing turbulence and scouring of the membrane when the flow through the filter is reversed during a cleaning operation. The feature configuration can also be optimized to capture bubbles in reverse flow such that the captured bubbles can be oscillated to further scour the membrane and the features themselves (e.g., in their cavities, etc.).
Modular manifold for filtration modules
A modular header for a filtration module assembly is provided. The modular header includes a main body, a first liquid passageway and a second liquid passageway extending through the main body, and a gas passageway extending through the main body. The gas passageway has a first open end formed at a first side surface of the main body and an opposing second open end formed at a second side surface of the main body. An auxiliary adapter is secured to the main body at at least one of the first and second open ends of the gas passageway.
Membrane filtration device and method for cleaning membrane filtration device
A membrane filtration device includes a plurality of membrane separation units vertically disposed in multiple stages. The membrane separation unit has a primary side communicating with a backwash drainage system and a flushing-air supply system to receive supplied raw water and a secondary side communicating with a backwash-water supply system to collect permeate. The backwash-water supply system includes a backwash-water main pipe and a plurality of backwash-water branch pipes to feed the backwash water into the membrane separation units. The backwash drainage system includes a plurality of backwash-drainage branch pipes and a backwash-drainage main pipe connected in parallel to the backwash-drainage branch pipes. The flushing-air supply system includes an air main pipe for passing flushing air upward and a plurality of air branch pipes for feeding flushing air into the membrane separation units, the air branch pipes being connected in parallel to the air main pipe.
MULTI-ELEMENT FILTRATION VESSEL
A multi-element filtration vessel included spaced beams for supporting and/or aligning filtration elements from below. The filtration elements have bottom ends adapted to rest upon adjacent support beams and also to extend between them to form a cavity that can capture feed fluid and an aeration gas and conduct it into the filtration element. In another aspect, a multi-element filtration vessel has removable aerators mounted on a projection on the wall of the filtration vessel.
FILTRATION TREATMENT SYSTEM AND FILTRATION TREATMENT METHOD
This filtration treatment system is provided with a membrane filtration device as a prefiltration treatment device for removing insoluble components from the water to be treated containing organic substance, a reverse osmosis membrane treatment device for subjecting the prefiltration-treated water to reverse osmosis membrane treatment, and a chemical agent supply pipe for supplying a chemical agent into the membrane filtration device, wherein the chemical agent contains a sulfamic acid compound, and a bromine-based oxidizing agent or the reaction product of a bromine compound with a chlorine-based oxidizing agent, or, contains the reaction product of a sulfamic acid compound with a bromine-based oxidizing agent or with the reaction product of a bromine compound with a chlorine-based oxidizing agent.
