HYDROPHILIC POLYMER AND MEMBRANE FOR OIL-WATER SEPARATION AND METHOD OF PRODUCING THE SAME
This invention relates to a hydrophilic polymer and membrane for oil-water separation. More particularly, this invention relates to a super hydrophilic polymer and membrane with zwitterionic property for oil-water separation, and method of producing the same. The hydrophilic polymer comprises polymer repeat units, each unit having at least one negatively charged carboxylic functional group and at least one positively charged amine functional group; and a monomer having a single aromatic ring and an imide functional group.
BILAYER 2D MATERIAL LAMINATES FOR HIGHLY SELECTIVE AND ULTRA-HIGH THROUGHPUT FILTRATION
Various examples are provided for highly selective and ultra-high throughput filtration using bilayer two-dimensional (2D) material laminates and highly absorptive medium of 2D material laminates or solution dispersions. In one example, a 2D material bilayer membrane includes a first membrane layer; an interlinking layer of interlinking molecules disposed on the first membrane layer; and a second membrane layer disposed on the interlinking layer. The interlinking molecules electrostatically or covalently interlink the second membrane layer and first membrane layer.
ZWITTERIONIC POLY(SULFOBETAINE ARYLENE ETHER SULFONE) POLYMER SYNTHESIS ROUTE AND APPLICATIONS FOR DESALINATION MEMBRANES
A zwitterionic polysulfone formed from an allyl-containing monomer, a phenol-containing monomer, and an aryl-halide-containing monomer. The zwitterionic polysulfone may be incorporated into a desalination membrane.
ION EXCHANGE MEMBRANE AND FILTER MODULE USING SAME
Provided is a method of forming a filter module. The method includes: forming a non-pore ion-exchange membrane including: preparing a mixed solution of a polymer material and an ion-exchange material; and electrospraying the mixed solution to obtain the non-pore ion-exchange membrane; and interposing the non-pore ion-exchange membrane between a first polymer nanofiber web and a second polymer nanofiber web to form the filter module.
FABRICATION OF FILTRATION MEMBRANES
Disclosed is a method of preparing a filtration membrane. The method includes providing a copolymer solution by dissolving a statistical copolymer in a mixture of a co-solvent and a first organic solvent, coating the copolymer solution onto a porous support layer to form a polymeric layer thereon, coagulating the polymeric layer on top of the support layer to form a thin film composite membrane, and immersing the thin film composite membrane into a water bath to obtain a filtration membrane. Also disclosed are a filtration membrane prepared by the method, and a process of filtering a liquid using the filtration membrane thus prepared.
